do you live under a rock?

have you ever been to logitech.com?

doesn't the mx duo run USB? (at least according to CNet)

#1 - No
#2 - No
#3 - No clue
All the keyboards that I have encountered at stores run PS/2. I am sorry that I am not a master of keyboard tech...

On PC PS/2 is not obsolete. it's how you interface with the computer before the USB drivers load. Like using the PS/2 keyboard to access the BIOS, for example.

hmm... my PC which is about 3 years old now has a USB keyboard and I can use the BIOS just fine with it... oh and my keyboard is about 3 years old as well. So I don't know what all the other posters are talking about not having USB keyboards. Maybe they just have the USB to PS/2 adaptors on and don't realize they can take them off.

are you running XP?

i don't think on 2000 this is possible. I don't ever want to run a windows machine higher than 2000. XP scares me enough; Longhorn is pure evil ...

this is more a bios thing (not os dependable). It just depends on the motherboard u use. some will let you boot from usb devices, some will not. same thing

Yeah, this is a BIOS issue. I use a USB keyboard with a Windows 2000 machine with no problem. You should find out the company who makes your chipset (the name on the screen right when you turn your machine on, or the name in the bios), and visit their website. They most likely have an update that will give USB boot support.

ah yes ... i see. thanks for the info guys. :)

it's a work computer; so it's my bosses preference (i guess). he's a bit old school now (falling behind tech trends ... though as soon as i tell him he'll probably will tell me he already knows). i'll pass along the info.

Man, how on earth does it all fit?!

Can we have pics? :D

Here's my 'office' setup at the University. I finally got around to swapping desks to one that isn't quite so embarrassing.

Mac mini 1.25, 1gb, bone stock otherwise
17" Dell Ultrasharp (don't remember model #)
OWC Neptune 160gb backup drive
iBook G3/800/CD/640mb (only on my desk because I'm waiting for the video to go all wonky again so I can snap a pic to show Apple)

Audio is a pair of Grado SR-60's, old school Cambridge Ensemble II's (for after working hours, very loud trance music is great at 2am), all fed by an iMic & amplified by an old Technics receiver.

And that's Budha on the mini, holding a cell phone and an espresso, and another grad student added the mini bottle of Tabasco sauce to his lap.

Can you tell my advisor is on sabbatical? :)

Here's my setup

Well, here it is...

733mHz QuickSilver G4 - put in 2 120 gig hard drives, two usb cards, more ram, and a DVD burner... needs to upgrade to a G5
15" Apple studio monitor (needs to turn into at least a 20 inch, I'd say)
1.2gHz 14" iBook
SoundSticks
Canon scanner
10gig iPod with dock
M-Audio Studiophile speakers
M-Audio USB Quattro
Apple Pro Keyboard (going wireless in the near future)
(yuck) Microsoft 5 button mouse
Griffin PowerMate (freakin' cool!)
Keyspan Digital Remote
HP printer (free with laptop)
External hard drive enclosure (not pictured) loaded with a 120 gig (going bigger soon - maybe 250 gig)

The desk is from Wal-Mart (I know, I know... but it was cheap, and I needed something quick, plus I love the look of the glass desktop, even if it does get gross overnight.)

I just got a Canon PowerShot A85 for my birthday, and wanted to try it out a little bit, so I decided to snap a shot of my setup... so yeah, I don't know if anyone bothers reading this forum topic anymore, but here it is. Enjoy

You've got my respect for not calling the Soundsticks "Soundsticks with iSub." Thanks! It's probably because you know your speakers. I'm hoping to get a set of studio monitors one of these days. What do you think of your Studiophiles? Also, what are those things sitting on top of the speakers?

It's essay writing time here in Wolverhampton. Which means it's time to make a mess, hook the CRT up to the iBook, do some work, and end up posting a horrendous setup pic to Macrumors. Class.

Speakers, scanner, printer and books all out of shot.

Do I get a prize for the Messiest Setup On Macrumors Ever? :)

I havent seen any messier! Is that mouse actually pluged in to anything?

edit: Hey, coca cola glass!! I have 2 of them, somewhere :p

The metal Logitech is plugged into the iBook; the Microsoft into the PC (out of shot, cable buggers off behind the CRT.)

Your set-up may be messy, but for some reason it shows off the iBook really well. I guess the iBook even looks good in a big mess :)

don't feel bad... mine has its days... i'm serious. I could probably have given you a run for your money when i was staying on campus. But then i moved and now have bigger space... i still have a rat's nest behind my TV and LCD on my desk...

a rats nest? OMG, I think I just threw up inside. If I were you, Id buy a grenade on the black market, and throw it behind the tv before id ever sleep in that room again.
