Woah, i fixed it :)

Man, theres a lot of screw on these KBs.
Awesome! I took apart a black (graphite) Pro Keyboard a couple of times to clean it. It's not easy but it's worth it to get rid of dust and hair. I had bought it second hand (I got it for free though because the eBay seller said it was mint condition in the listing but it was far from mint so the guy refunded me). It cost me a couple of hours of time though.

My Setup

No mac yet but. Waiting for Tiger.

My old mac setup (WAY back in 1987) was a Mac 512 (yes, that's a full HALF a meg!) on a cardboard box in my dorm room. The box was for a HUGE daisy wheel printer that didn't work (it was big enough to be a desk, after all!); I had an Imagewriter 1, thank you very much!

My current set up has approximately 200 times more CPU speed, 1,500 times as much RAM, and 100,000 times as much disk storage

But I still don't have a desk: most of the time I use my iBook sitting at the kitchen counter.

I just finished setting up my new desk and cleaning up and rearranging my room.

I plan to get ether an iMac or a Dell 2005FPW to replace the CTR. And I'll be painting over the Orange as soon as possible

I changed things around a bit (again)--

I picked up a better chair, new audio mixer, and HDTV :D

I dumped the old SD CRT, and moved the VCR to the rack under the desk. I also added some extra equipment to the rack, though you can't see it very well from the angle of the photo. There's an HD reeceiver in there, as well as some extra tape decks and DVD players.

Nice editing suite

MacNoobie that set up is beautiful. Really is, god i love those aluminium displays.
One thing i highly highly recommend is get rid of those black speakers and get some gorgeous aluminium Altec Lansing's FX6021's, they would match that set up beautifully.
Very jealous

ive looked through this thread a number of times, and finally today took a pic to post up.

my PB is right there, with a 19" CRT to the left (hooked to my back up windows box wich is a PII (the PIII motherboard died so i had to go to my back up)) I usually use the windows box for my GPS because it is serial and wont hook up to mac (easily) then theres my 250GB firewire drive hidding under the USB hub. but its all about to change. 1) i have a 20.1" dell 2005FPW in the mail right now and 2) i will be moving to a new apt in a couple of weeks and will have a different desk etc (right now im on campus at my university and am using campus supplied furniture)

i need some new speakers!!!! i previously had my mini-system hooked up to my PB but moved that downstairs for some party music to go with the bar i built. (www.leaveapenny.net/bar.html) anyway . . . here is the pic

Those black speakers are Klipsch ProMedia THX 2.1.

I have the same, and they are pretty good (About 300$).

I get stressed about cables... the Apple keyboard needs to be freed!!! grr it annoys me.. The amount of cables on MacNoobies setup would drive me insane. I just hate cables!

The tiger on background has NOTHING to do with OS X Tiger. I've had a tiger as my back drop since I had a GUI (7 yrs old - now 18)) it changes whenever it feels tired. He protects my comp (Favourite animal btw, im only slightly weird).

Here it is!

I'm way late on this one, but to all of you who are running multiple machines with multiple keyboards, mice, and displays, you may want to check out Synergy.

It's a piece of software for Mac, Windows, and Linux that acts as a virtual switch. You use one keyboard and one mouse, and it operates like a dual-monitor setup.

This is probably my 4th or 5th set of setup pictures I'm posting in this thread. :) I just moved from the suburbs into the city. I don't have my table yet . . . that might take another few days.

Here's my view of Lake Michigan and the top of the Sears Tower, and my present computing situation. I haven't brought my 23" yet so I'm using the 17" by itself for now.

That's an antenna next to the surge suppressor. It replaces the stubby Airport antenna that comes with Power Mac G5s and it's necessary for picking up open wireless access points. :)

You should look into getting a desk too. I hear that they are handy.

Yeah, I probably forgot to mention that. :) I prefer using a table as a desk anyhow. I'll probably get a folding table (one that's sturdy though) so that it's easy to move it in and eventually move it out. There are some tables at the Ikea in Schaumburg, Illinois, that feel sturdy enough.

You can look at my awesome table (white legs, stainless steel top) in my previous posts in this thread. That won't be easy to move up here to the 21st floor, so that's why I'm thinking of a folding table.

I am loving that minimilast setup Rod Rod. The only thing is how uncomfortable that would get lying on the floor all day. But I guess with Mac, anything is bearable...:p

Thanks. I'm pretty motivated to get a table and chair up here already, as you can imagine. I'll probably do that in the middle of the night tonight. The setup was way more minimalist before I attached my four external FW hard drives (one of them is not in the frame) -- at that point there was only one thing plugged into the surge suppressor.
