Nice monitor with a nice, unique PowerBook wPod...

BTW, where did you get that *odd* Altoids case? Just curious...

thanks! you can check out my 'unique' PB at www.leaveapenny.net/macmods.html

the altoids case, is actually my CAMERA case!!! i have a Pentax Optio S that happens to fit in an altoids case. (i swear some Pentax engineer won a bet of "i bet i can design a camera to fit in an altoids case!!!) but about two years ago altoids started running an ad campaign that featured a number of characters on the altoids tins (the little boy was on one, the muscule builder was on another) check out altoids.com and click on ad gallery at the top and you will see various characters. though i no longer see them on the altoids tins. im not sure how long they ran the special edition tins, but i snatched two up of the um, devil woman, and have not seen any since! (it was about a year and a half ago) btw. .. it works great at parties when you want to get a pic with a girl. .. you pull out the altoids case and they are like "whats that" then pull out the camera and they are like "wow"!!!

<edit> heh. . .check out e-bay, and search altoids tins. . . there are a LOT of unusual altoids tins, including the devil woman one. i want curious george!!!!

yay, a fellow eMac user! Nice speakers.

Yeah, I've had my eMac since back in December and it's been the best computer I've ever had so far.

The speakers, I got back in like September, '03 or so. My friend had bought 'em a year or so before that and I got 'em off him. They are Altec Lansing 2100's. They sound great.

here i go again
After some troubles with my 21" ASD i bought myself a 2005FPW. I got the B&W ASD (left one :D) for free - it won't last long, presumably. In the end i had my own ASD (graphite - right one) repaired at a local tv repair shop.
Long story, there's a thread (more of a blog  ) around here somewhere.
Anyway
B&W <- XP hog, 2005FPW <- mini, Graphite <- B&W G3
mini is hidden in the picture, other computers are on the metal shelf to the right of my leather coated desk. </brag>
sorry for the shabby picture quality

NICE setup, although the sub being on the desk does no good. Put it in the floor and I guarantee it'll sound MUCH better.

Yeah, I used to have it on the floor but the switch to turn it off is on the back of the sub. I like to turn the speakers off when I am not using the PowerMac. Does anyone else bother turning their speakers off?

New PowerMac... :D

hey,

i have a similar desk (well, pretty mucht he same actually). the one thing i hate about a glass desk is that you just cannot hide the wires, no matter how hard you try! it's annoying when you have a computer that doesnt need any wires (imac g5) but you can see them everywhere! grrr.

btw, how much did you get the desk for? i paid $320 USD / $411 AUS.

I do,
One of the major features i was looking for in my speakers was the ability to turn them of from my desk, volume and sub volume where important as well.
A few posts up you can see my speaker amp & control under the right CRT (with the blue light). The woofer is hidden and collecting dust behind my desk.
I use a U.S. Blaster MM1500 2.1 speaker set.

It was a bargain... really!

Funny you should ask about the desk - there is a little tale about that...

I was after one of these desks ('Zed' desks - available from Freedom furniture here in .au) for quite some time and when I got the PowerBook last year, I migrated from the den downstairs where the G4 tower was back up to my room. I needed a cool desk to complement my other stuff so I chose this one.

I went to the local Freedom store and enquired about getting a silver metal coloured one. At the time, that store did not have the silver ones - only black and gun metal. The salesperson offered to search for another store with the silver one so I agreed. A silver one was located at another store so I spoke to the salesperson from that store over the phone and put a deposit of $200 to reserve it for me. So, off I went to the other store to pick it up.

On arrival, they had the desk ready for pickup. To my surprise they had the shipping docket ready to sign indicating THE DESK HAD BEEN PAID IN FULL!!! So, I grabbed the pen, signed away and drove the car round to the loading dock. The desk was in and I was away!!! $200 for a desk that was $379
Zed desk at Freedom Furniture

The geek was (and still is) very pleased with his purchase!! :D

Yeah, that would get annoying having to turn off the speakers on the back of the sub. That's not a logical place to put an on/off switch, IMO. My speakers have a remote that just sits on the desktop.

desk

Speaking of cool desks here is the one that 2 of my buddies have. I would have bought it, but the corner in which i would have put it isn't quite big enough to get the second desk in there (there is a window that was ingeniously put entirely too close to the corner of the 2 walls...)

Its from StudioRTA and when i get a bigger living quarters, i'm going to get it.

Here is the desk.
