That doesn't even matter so long as the phone is sold bundled to a carrier there will be a big market for unlocking it. I have an unlocked iPhone and I'll be damned if Apple get the right to select my phone carrer for me. There are many people that share this view, it's one of the reasons tools like Pwnage are being developed.

I am not worried about it because I have never had an apple product fail on me, but if apple ever tried to deny me warranty service on my hardware because I did not activate with AT&T, I will be taking them to small claims court or doing a chargeback with AMEX.

How exactly are you using your iPhone now?

someone else somewhere will do the same thing: we have only to wait and be damn excited. i have a feeling that apple's release of a good (very good recorder for the iphone/touch with line ins etc will never happen as well... no external accessories).

iPhone DevTeam PRESS RELEASE

The "DevTeam" would like to announce the immediate withdrawal from the iPhone development arena.

It was anticipated that the DevTeam would be releasing a tool for the iPhone sometime this week, unfortunately it has been decided to withdraw all development activities on this tool.

Criticism of the validity of the tool has been reported in the press and certain actions were taken to prevent the release of the tool on the 30th March.

Due to these actions, certain developers ceased their work immediately, with others reconsidering their position.

On Monday the 31st of March the DevTeam was approached by an unnamed party to sell all of thei intellectual property and related applications.

After much consideration the offer was accepted and work has ceased.

The name of the company that has made this offer is private, and the details of the deal are confidential.

Our only comment is that Pwnage Tool and other such applications will not be seen outside of the lab.

We would like to thank our users for their support over the last 10 months.

I asked a russian friend and he told me he is saying "HI!"

The rumors are that pwnage will be released on Thursday - although there is an outside chance of a Wednesday release.

I have this from a good source - however that probably means it won't come out on either day now lol!
