Can confirm that the PwnageTool unlocked my iPod Touch 16GB and Cydia is on there and working... not many packages available though, don't really see much to install except for OpenSSH and some other basic utilities.

I'm actually quite happy that I'm a Windows user, so all the kinks of the process get worked out before I have a crack at it, rather then diving right in.

??? I think there is a software that can convert the window to mac capability format .... is there?

" trying to use pwnage but got a window lol"

I didn't think you were serious, sorry.
You can run Windows apps on a Mac by using wither Boot Camp to boot your Mac into Windows or by using a virtual machine such as Parallels or VMWare (there are other free VMs, but I haven't used them).

There is no out of the box solution to run Mac applications in Windows. You could try the Hackintosh route and setup your machine to dual boot between Windows and OS X. Google hackintosh or osx86. Good luck with that...

Maybe for you a Mini wouldn't be such a bad solution after all ;)

Well, I'm looking at the pineapple logo as iTunes restores, so all is looking good so far once I passed that DFU hurdle.

Edit: BootNeuter started up and was doing its thing, as iTunes was finishing restoring the backup and said it would restart the phone. I was freaking thinking it would restart it mid-flash, but it didn't seem to...

Edit2: Bootneuter restarted the phone once it was done, itunes is now copying media over, so looks like it is fine

Can anyone get T-Mobile $5.99 EDGE working? Waiting for confirmation that someone can get it working before I update :)

I unintentionally upgraded with the regular 2.0 from iTunes, instead of using the pwnage desktop version... Thought, it will take it automatically... Shame on me:(
Now everything is just black...
Whenever I now try to select the modified one, it gives me the error 1600.
For sure, the deleting of /itunes/device support doesnt help now anymore.
Any idea to bring it back with an downloadable peace of SW?
Thx

Hello? Anybody...? Also, how do you retrieve your contacts from your T-mobile sim card? Starting to think I should have waited on this one.

I started a new topic on this subject here. Hopefully that will get some attaention.

Crisis averted.

I've got my O2 signal back, although I'm back in jail. :(

Next time, I'll try setting my phone up anew rather than restoring its settings from a backup. I seem to remember that mixing backups across the jailbreak is not a particularly good idea but I thought I'd try.

Is there any way to jailbreak it without losing everything on your ipod? Also, do I just download it and click jailbreak or is there anything I have to prepare?

**** bricked my iphone....

THE ZIPHONE WAS SO MUCH BETTER!!!

going to contact apple and hopefully have them lock out the hack so no one can hurt themselves.

You Pu**y.

Doesn't matter what this person can or can't do, regarding Apple. It's about who they are. And this action reeks of it.

Congratulations, you've got 14 posts and you've contributed nothing to this forum in any of them.

i keep getting failed to enter dfu mode

I kept getting that too until I put the touch in restore mode, clicked ok in itunes but didn't do a restore with the desktop ipsw, then used the pwnagetool and it gave me steps (holding power and home, yada yada) to get into dfu.

When I was first trying it, it didn't even give me steps to get it into dfu, it just said that it failed... i think the pwnagetool simply didn't recognize or communicate with the touch correctly.

After jailbreaking I simply restored my backup when it prompted the first time the ipod booted up. It installed all my mail settings and store apps, and I still had Cydia (full unlock).

Don't know about music and media... I hadn't put anything back on after upgrading to 2.0 when it erased it all (just been just been using pandora!).

I did too... over and over. I think the only thing that finally worked for me was a much shorter "hold the power button and the home button" for a few seconds (it looks like nothing really happened) and then pwnage (or whatever it's called) finally kicked in and did it's thing. Or I just got lucky... I had to do it quite a few times.

Honestly, after spending the last 1.5 hours or so trying to get this to work and being successful I'm left wondering what was the point. Apparently, most of what worked on older versions won't work on the new 2.0.

ok - I could now reenter the DFU mode and now its some kind of installing - at least I see now the pinaple on the screen:)
Thx everybody for the support to a newbie....

Does anybody know how to configure netatalk?

Or at least know how to get AFP running? I think that's what netatalk is anyway.
