is there a way to get the original ipcc file ?

I tried this modified one here, got the icon for MMS, it isn't working.

Tried the tethering functions, not working either.

now my visual voicemail isnt working, it keeps asking me to "Set up Now" but after the final step says "voicemail unavailable".

If you choose the "reset settings" option in the Cellular Data area to reset them all back to just wap.cingular the Visual Voicemail will start working again. (need to reboot)
Guess is that mms and Visual voicemail use same settings by deafult and changing the one changes the other.

I have a feeling AT&T is going to get the MMS issue taken care of much sooner than they have said. I think there will be a lot of outcry especially from people who buy the 3G S, since MMS is advertised heavily for the phone. Maybe AT&T will want to cut down on the calls they'll get about MMS not working.

AT&T told me June 18th

So I just got off the phone with AT&T and they told me twice (two different reps said this) I have to call Apple and have them activate it...

I don't see how AT&T can get away with not having MMS working on June 18th. People buying new iPhones and whatnot will overload their tech support with calls.

Thanks for the guide... I'm gonna try this when I get home. Does anyone have a default carrier file in case something goes wrong?

ok I now have all the settings - what do I fill in for hte visual voicemail and other settings?

So I tried last night and MMS/Tethering didn't work. This morning I updated my carrier file with the original one because VM wasn't working, except the MMS and Tethering options are still there. I didn't change anything (in settings) and turned on tethering and it worked. MMS still doesn't though.

Okay I got it working.

This is what I did... I followed the directions and it didn't work, I then deleted all the information you input yourself in the carrier settings and wala, i sent and recieved MMS. I then tried to setup Tethering, and in the middle of it somewhere everything disappeared...

 Now I'm back to the beginning...

What settings did you put in for the MMS to work. Can you take a screenshot of it? My MMS doesn't work and I am really wanting it to work.

Now I clicked on "Reset Settings" in the "Cellular Data Network" and the Internet Tethering option came back... but not the option to send MMS. There is no option to turn on MMS from the 'Messages' setting. I will now try restarting.

After restarting, Internet Tethering is still there but MMS is still not...

I didn't put any settings in, just "wap.cingular" for all three (3) APN fields... then it worked for a little while, then went away.

I had the IPPC file updated already in beta 5, and the newest update removed my MMS options but not my tethering options. I guess Apple really went out of their way to take that out.

I have the GM release, all the MMS and tethering options available on my phone and I talked to AT&T per the instructions:

4. Call AT&T Tier Two Technical Support at 888-892-9760 press option 1

5. When talking to representative explain that you are a registered software developer for the iphone and need to have your phone activated for MMS.

These are the things they need to do to make it work

a. Make sure you are on a standard texting plan and not the iphone texting plan
b. Enable Media Net and WAP Push
c. There are two areas in Snooper that need to be checked off to enable MMS
d. They need to do a push OTA (over the air activation)

Still, not working...... The ATT lady at that number said she couldn't save the necessary changes to enable Medianet and Wap push...

What else can be done?

Call back and try again. They have to enable on their end right now for it to work.

I got the option to send MMS and the icon back but I tried sending some MMS's like before and nothing... doesn't work anymore (did the same thing that I did the first time)

for the media net thing and WAP push which helped me was the following

put my sim into an older phone. then wait for it to appear within the AT&T page

had tried to send an MMS from the older phone (this took about 30 mins to take place)

then went to http://mymedianet.wireless.att.com/ and signed up using my phone account and then had one of the services pushed to my phone ( i think i used weather or something) and then sent another MMS after that (dont know if that was needed or not)

finally put my sim back into my iphone (leaving the iphone on the whole time) and was able to send MMS

Granted this was all done with SwirlyMMS for the jailbroken iPhone, AND im on a familly text messaging plan so :p

Me: Hi Lawrence, I am a developer for the iPhone and I need you to remove the mms opt-out codes on my account

Lawrence Skellington: Good afternoon and I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your iPhones MMS feature addition. I will be happy to assist you with this and in order to assist you, may I access your billing account records?

Me: Yeah

Lawrence Skellington: This is a secure channel. Please provide the following information:

1-The wireless phone number you are inquiring about, area code first.
2-The first and last name as listed on the account.
3-Your full name.
4-The last four digits of the Social Security # or password listed on the account.

Please bear with me while I access your account. Once I have the information it may take me 1-2 minutes to complete this.
Thank you.

Me: ...........

Lawrence Skellington: Thank you. Please give me 3-4 minutes to add the MMS feature to the billing account.

Me: OK, thanks alot

Lawrence Skellington: You're welcome and sorry for the delay as the billing system is giving me an error message. Please bear with me while I attempt to resolve it.

Me: OK, no problem

Lawrence Skellington: I have updated the back end systems for MMS for the iPhone and unfortunately, since it will not officially be available until sometime this summer, there is no way for us to test it out.

Me: ok, sounds good.

Me: thanks

Lawrence Skellington: You're welcome.

Lawrence Skellington: Other than your MMS issue, is there anything else I can assist you with today?

Lawrence Skellington: By the way, if you have any additional questions about your device, you may want to access our self-help device tutorial site at: www.att.com/tutorials .

Me: That is it, thanks alot Lawrence

Lawrence Skellington: You're welcome.

Easy as that!

Big YMMV on this just had one rep tell me the following:

Cassie Steele: I am sorry that the iPhone does not support the MMS at this time. Apple has specifically advised us not to add it under any circumstance at this point. They have not officially announced that MMS will be on 3.0 and that the development kit has a way to test it without our network.

Me: Hmmm while thats true with the simlator I'm needing to test my application on an actual phone per apple's best practices

Cassie Steele: I apologize but you will need to contact Apple if you are a developer. Please contact Apple iPhone Support by calling 800-694-7466. Their hours of operation are 8am to 8pm CT daily.

Me: Apple told me I needed to contact AT&T Cassie; is there anything you can do for me?

Cassie Steele: I apologize but there is not anything that we can do. We were instructed by Apple to not at this feature.

Me: Thank you for your time.

Has anyone got it to work and it NOT disappear? If thats the case, maybe it has something to do with the carrier settings... because in order to get the MMS to show, you have to input something (from my experiences) in the carrier settings info part...

oh att....

i just got off the phone with tier 1 ATT tech support.
i explained the situation, she said that yes, the DO have the ability to provision MMS at this time, but they WILL NOT.
She said that all it needs is to be provisioned, and then activated over the air (WAP Push is the missing link) the opt-out is already removed...

i think i will call again and NOT mention anything about me being an iPhone user. i will ask if they can provision MMS on my account and perform an OTA activation.

if this doesn't work, i'll try popping SIM into another ATT phone and calling tech support...

i am determined to get this to work.
