Quick guide to enable MMS and Tethering on iPhone 3.0

I just called and tried to get it turned on. The guy said they cant do that and if someone has done so for another customer they have done so in error. And that they have no way of telling who is a developer or not.
 
I was denied twice. The second rep said they don't have a way to turn on the feature, and it would be done automatically towards the 'end of summer'.

I did what you said, but the MMS doesn't send the pictures. It gets all the way to the end of the bar, then stops. Yes I checked and saw if I put in the incorrect info. How do I fix this???????????????????? Do I have to activate my mms with att, even though I'm NOT a developer?????????????

Read last two pages please. Everyone is having this problem.

If you aren't a developer you shouldn't be using the 3.0 firmware. And if you don't have 3.0 firmware, you don't have MMS.

There, solved that one for you :)
 
Thanks for sharing... maybe AT&T will get their act together and offer the features that are coming out on their "exclusive" phone.

The iPhone OS 3.0 Gold Master will most likely be the one given to everyone so thus the 'if you are not a developer, you shouldn't be using it' argument doesn't really apply anymore. They just have it a little early.
 
How the hell do we get the old ipcc? This new one has really f***ed up my iPhone. No visual voicemail, everything is super laggy. Help?
 
The link he has at the top of his post does nothing when opened, and the ipcc that is on my phone now that has messed it up is the one he posted.
 
I would guess you renamed it to ATT_US.ipcc and re-updated your iPhone with it? Then restarted your phone as well?
 
When I downloaded it initially my MacBook already named it ATT_US.ipcc, so yes I updated it to my iPhone and then restarted it.

And it is still acting weird? Other than a restore from a previous backup, I don't know what to say to help. I just did what you did an hour ago and it worked fine for me.
 
i've followed these instructions to the letter...twice...and still i get the li'l red exclamation points with my mms messages.
oh well...i may just have to wait until the hopeful date of june 18, which some have stated they've been told by at$t...or maybe longer. grrr...
 
has any one resolved the issue of tethering dissappearing from the menu when it is activated?
 
well ****, now my visual vm has stopped, mms doesnt work - that was not a surprise though, not tried tethering....but guess I can.

I did a restore to 3.0 GM not a new phone and it still sees the old IPPC....hmmpppphhhhh lol
 
Hello guys. This is my Success Story...

I have been VERY VERY frustraded since march because my wife's iphone was sending MMS since beta1 mine never did.

WELL Today! i got it to work......

here's what i did:

i have a unibody macbook so i have itunes beta 8.2 10 i went ahead and installed the IPCC file using itunes and shift update. when i did that i got my mms menu and tethering and the cellular network data menu.

still no mms. I decided to call this number 1-866-700-2105 which is at&t technical support. i told the lady that my wife's phone mms works and doesnt. she compared the lines and they were the same. she sent a test mms to her phone and it worked since hers was already working. she sent one to mine and did not go throgh.

i restarted my phone and my mms icon was gone. i went to data settings and entered the mms APN:

wap.cingular
wap@cingulargprs.com
CINGULAR1
mmsc.cingular.com
66.209.11.32

restarted my iphone and as soon as the phone restarted the TEST MMS the rep had sent came through

NOW I HAVE MMS woking im soooooooooooo happy

have the AT&T rep send you a mms from their system and also use this values for the data settings

Until is mysteriously disappears...
