Took the sim out my iPhone and placed it in my old HTC 8525. Called AT&T and had them enable MMS. Sent/received a couple of messages with my 8525. Took out my sim and popped it back in my iPhone. Followed the settings for MMS and now it works. Had a problem with visual voicemail, but was able to fix it.

Tried this. ATT asked why I was using a different phone if I had an iPhone plan. I told them I was switching between phones for work purposes, but they still refused to do so given the fact that I had an iPhone. ATT rep said she couldn't help me. Any other options?

Same here. Switched to an old RAZR and called them up. They said they cannot switch on MMS because the system sees the iPhone plan. I could switch off the iPhone plan and then enable MMS, but I wouldn't have any iPhone plan afterwards. For those of you who got this working, is that what you did? Completely get rid of the iPhone plan and use a regular plan?

I removed all settings except for the APN and it still didn't work. As soon as I rebooted my phone the option to even send an MMS went away.

Me too, i left everything blank and after a reboot the camera icon in messages was gone:confused:

Seems I ran into a problem by switching the sim card from 8525 to iPhone. My MMS was working until a couple of minutes ago so I'm assuming the system did its usual sweep and deactivated MMS when it realized I was using my iPhone. I called AT&T and the rep told me I was on Media Max plan so thats why my MMS was working. She said MMS was restricted on my account. I told her I was able to send/receive MMS last night without a problem. She lifted the restriction and sent me a test MMS and now it's working again. Not sure if she removed the MediaMax though.

Okay, just was able to send (1) MMS to my buddy. That said, I'm trying again a few times before I'm convinced that it's working 100%.

most likely it will shut back down when the systems get swept and see you have an iphone again. I dont understand why ATT wants to with hold this from us so bad - just to be jerks I guess - def. not winning fans from this.

Still works. All I'm gonna do is switch back to my RAZR and call 'em up again and bitch that my MMS isn't working. Hopefully, this doesn't have to happen but I'm enjoying MMS and now I don't want to go back. :D

inconsistencies ...

i was able to set up my iphone with 3.0 and then updating the ipcc to work with sending and receiving mms on my main line

but when it comes to the other phone on my plan i still cant get it to work...

maybe at&t is blocking it now? ... but im still able to send mms from my main iphone on the plan

I think they are definitely blocking something here. I can't even get mms to work when swapping sim cards into my blackjack. Until a few days ago this worked perfect fine. They are also blocking all data connections when I have the sim in my blackjack,

Think they are blocking it too. Everytime I switch my sim from phone to phone it works, but only for a little bit. I think the system is sweeping the iPhone accounts allot faster now.

My tethering option disappears shortly after I turn on Tethering. I have a hunch that it is because I am on EDGE. Can anyone else with EDGE confirm that they see the same "problem"?

I got tethering to work! Is this illegal? I mean... I'm only doing the same things I would normally be doing on my iPhone... but it's a lot easier and faster to do it on my computer.

I'm getting the internet installed tomorrow, so this will probably be the last time I need to tether to my Mac.

Do you think this is illegal?

GUYS HELP I HAVE ONLY ONE PROBLEM!
I did everything but when i press option + check for updates i cant click the carrier bundle what gives anyone know any fixes to that problem?

I downgraded to the pre release, then when i plug my phone in nothing happens. iTunes doesnt even recognize my phone, the phone doesnt signify it being plugged in or anything. Sound familiar to anyone? Im currently running 3.0 GM with tethering working but i want to get MMS figured out tonight as well. I dont know if it makes a difference but im also running Snow Leopard. Thanks

if you read through this thread you would see that you need to have the PRE-release of itunes 8.2 in order to update the IPCC file, (the public release version WILL NOT allow you to update this file)

just a quick update,

have NOT got MMS working on my second line, but MMS is still working on my main line, it's just frustrating when i have everything on the second line set up correctly, i will be calling at&t tomorrow to try and fix this so i will report back with my findings :p ....

just a side note : last time i tried calling and asking them to enable the settings for my phone they tried telling me that i neede to have an enterprise data plan in order to get picture messages and that i wouldnt be able to use the iphones internet (what a bunch of douchebags at&t have working for them... oh well.. BED TIME!)

i didnt want to open up another discussion just for this question, but when using the tethering and the iphone is on a wireless network would the iphone be recieving the wifi's internet or the 3g internet. just wondering if the have it setup the same way PDAnet has theres setup. Also because if your sitting in starbucks your iphone gets the free wifi and it would be nice to tether from there wifi instead of 3g. Which is already in use with PDAnet.

media net still says forbidden using those steps

I actually switched to the AT&T option that said my phone wasn't listed (since I have a Rogers branded LG Shine). I made a few bogus calls (random calls to Apple, just so the network would pick up the activity), and turned the LG Shine off and on twice. That took 10-15 minutes, THEN it let me register. It said no initially for me also.

Works perfectly. You tether up your laptop, and it uses your phone's data, no matter where it comes from. I did the Starbucks trick yesterday.
