Real MacPro3,1 installed Dosdude1 patched installer 10.15.6. Are you on 10.15.6? I had to install the dosdude1 patcher to get WIFI and my Graphics card to work properly its the GTS 8800. So I installed the Graphics Legacy patch worked without issues on 0.59.

Going back to 0.59 to see if the menu appears as it did before then I can assume something is going on with 0.60

059 forced Graphics mode in all cases as text mode was broken.

Change the name of BOOTx64.efi to BOOTx64-REL.efi and BOOTx64-DBG.efi to BOOTx64.efi, then reboot and post the debug log. It will be in the EFI folder.

Here you go went back to 0.59 you will see more icons since I modified the config to show more but that has nothing to do with with no refind GUI in 0.60. So there is some issue in 0.60 on my end.

See attached. Why can't it find graphics output, 0.59 does?

What GPU are you running?

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

But as I said it worked fine in 0.59. I said already in one of the posts I am using the 8800 and using Dosdude's legacy patch no issue at all in 0.59.

So even with Dosdude1 legacy graphics patch basically rEFInd Gui is broken in new rEFInd version, Ill stick with 0.59 until they fix this.

This is the output from my 3,1 with 060:

6:022 0:027 Switched to Graphics Mode
The code searching for GraphicsOutput is the same between 059 and 060. GOP and UGA both work on mine (andother tester before release) but not with yours.
I think there is some kind of misconfiguration afoot and unless someone else reports a problem, I wouldn't investigate this any further. You can stick with the 059 Refind efi file as you indicated.

Ok switched over to an MSI Aero ITX RX560 4GB, I don't want to use my RX580 in a cMP3,1. It looks like the Nvidia 8800 just won't cut it for rEFInd no matter what Dosdude1 patch does.

I still don't know why you keep saying trim is taken care of when in fact it is not in the default OC included. In OC third party drive is set to "No" therefore no Trim Support when set to "Yes" I have trim support.

Weird Vram shows 7mb on the graphics card, ok kext no loaded I will re-install dosdude1 without legacy graphics kext? No Matter what I do I can't win with this cMP3,1 and I have several cMP5,1 and a couple of cMP4,1 and a huge arsenal of Mac PC clones and I have not had this much trouble compared to this, but its well worth the troubleshooting and experienced gained by it.

Also I have canopy working with this Graphics Card.

You can’t install the legacy video card patch on the 3,1 if you want a modern gpu like the rx series amd card to function.
the 3,1 is unique enough to make things frustrating.

also why don’t you want to use the RX 580 in the 3,1? I have one in mine and another one in my iMac pro hack, they seem quite comparable with each other performance wise. The 3,1 has a pulse 4gb OC, in the hack I have a powercolor red devil 8gb.

I know I should use the RX580. The RX560 is working as well. I only installed the legacy video patch for the nvidia 8800 because the resolution on my 4K Samsung TV was setting only to 800 by 600 and scaling was unavailable without the legacy video patch, not realizing that actually broke any modern graphics card you place into the device, so I am going to reinstall Dosdude1 without the legacy patches, only the WIFI and go from there.

Edited a hour or so later:

All working now with the RX560 will have to purchase a couple more RX580's when the price comes down some since I do have 3 now but one is reserved for the MacPro5,1 and the other two for the High End PC Mac Clones.

Question about these settings may have asked before, in the opencore thread, shikigva=80 mbasd=1 wegtree=1 -no_compat_check

with the RX560 can shikigva=80 setting cause any issues of monitor going to black once the boot is complete, without that setting, boots normal every time. Maybe RX560 doesn't respond well to that setting? mbasd=1 I think was for Apple Optical Superdrive setting. The config.plist settings in OP_ALT always boots to desktop, only difference is the config.plist settings leave out shikigva=80 and mbasd=1

I thought you said it was working on 059. Follow up on the GPU and/or Unsupported Mac threads. Link provided on first page.

Should be YES. Reverted in error from the upstream default. Will change.

In reality, it is not so difficult to configure a 3,1. Essentially the same actions as 5,1 with one or two minor differences.
Your reports point to a frequent misreading/disregarding of instructions which I think is the issue at play.

Just to clear things up, the nvidia 8800 does work in 059 rEFInd GUI menu and works in 060 with rEFInd text mode rather than GUI.

I had to remove shikigva=80 because once the boot is complete and its clearly boots I see the Apple logo just before it gets to the Desktop, then my LCD monitor goes black if I remove that setting it boots to the desktop everytime so it must be the RX560 possibly, I'll ask in the OpenCore forum.

Vram was wrong initially on the RX560 because the kext was not loaded I had installed dosdude1's legacy graphics patch and that broke the kext for modern day GPU's, after reinstallation of 10.15.6, it displays the VRAM properly.

Have you noticed with the new release was it yesterday?, that occasionally on restart the icons do not show up in rEFInd. Its boots to rEFInd and I see the cMP computer icon at the bottom and apple logo at the top but no icons in the middle requires me to power down and power back up. This could be again related to my graphics card but wanted to see if you noticed this with the RX580. It will require for you to occasionally restart a few times throughout the day may catch this or not?

I will post on OpenCore thread regarding the issue with Shikigva=80 setting and RX560 related questions.

Also just so you don't think I just pulled this out of no where, this was under the section, Other Considerations this is what I was referring to about rebooting several times but it was out of context.

"Reboot and Hard Reset NVRAM (Hold the OPT + CMD + P + R keys down until the fourth chime)" The 4th chime is about 4 times of restarting. :)

I can't get NVIDIA and AMD working alongside anymore. NVIDIA (at least Kepler) hijacks the screen outputs. It is either/or.

Please dump and grab the reattached v060a if you downloaded before.

I just use one or the other but not both, and I also only use chainloading on the cMP3,1 on cMP4,1 and cMP5,1 only use OC no chainloading on them.

Try v060a. Note that I reattached the file so if you downloaded it when first attached, junk that file and redownload.
Run the debug version and attach the log.

Try pressing any key when this happens.

"Reboot and Hard Reset NVRAM (Hold the OPT + CMD + P + R keys down until the fourth chime)" The 4th chime is about 4 times of restarting.
That's just another misinterpretation.
If you needed to reboot four times, the guide will say "Reboot Four Times".
Reboot and hold down some keys until the fourth chime is not the same thing as Reboot Four Times at all.

Not sure how it is even possible to interpret what was written in that way.

@osxfr33k See if this works for you:
1596552559590.png

First you boot with the cable connected to NVIDIA and later you switch the monitor to the AMD. I actually have 2 screens one attached to the AMD and the other to NVIDIA. If you have 1 screen you can plug both cards to the screen.

So when Hold the OPT + CMD + P + R keys down the Mac does not restart each time until you let the keys go? All I was trying to say is I took this out of context obviously the Guide does not mention anywhere to reboot 4 times.

What changed in version 060A besides the one fix in OC config.plist third part drives set to Yes?

I would like to test the Nvidia 8800 again but it will require me to install the Legacy Video patch to work on my Samsung 4K tv but for now I'll try it on my normal monitor to avoid the dosdude1 legacy patch and post the debug. Give me a bit, the MacPro3,1 it cramped behind my entertainment center will need to pull cards out and re-install the Nvidia 8800.

Remember to download a fresh copy of v060a from Page 1 if downloaded before.

Yes first thing I did was to grab a fresh copy. I shouldn't need to reset P&R and/or resetstartdisk app before I bless 060a?

No GUI see attached log

Rename the v060 Bootx64.efi, paste in the Bootx64-DBG.efi from v059, rename this as Bootx64.efi, reboot and attach log from that.
