thanks, this is after selecting the windows legacy button in MyBootManager. I don't see anything in MBM's log to suggest anything is wrong, it ends with - Boot Windows (Legacy) from 'BOOTCAMP'.

edit:attached log
edit: I managed to get a poor photo of verbose attached

Thanks. Will have a look later.

To repeat my previous post, MyBootMgr (or however you want to spell it) is not what boots anything.
What boots stuff is RefindPlus or OpenCore. What MyBootMgr does is configure those two to work together so that you can use one of them, RefindPlus or OpenCore, to boot something.

The reason why I bang on this is that if you don't know what you are using to do what and don't understand the basics of what is happening, you are likely to have issues.

EDIT:
Took a quick look at the log and can't see anything as well apart from that you did not use the latest release of MyBootMgr to set things up. You will want to do that first before trying to figure anything else out.

Hi!
I've been somewhat redirected here from the OC thread.
What I'm trying to achieve is a bare essentials setup on a cMP4,1->5,1 that will only be used to boot Win10 in UEFI mode on a separate SSD and protect from the certificates.
When I boot 10.13 High Sierra which is natively supported, I want no "interference" from RFP or OC. Just the regular "boot picker".
I've tried OC, but found it's "forceful intrusion" in nvram not to my liking.

Is this possible with MBM?

Ideally a bootx64.efi file that protects nvram and then automatically chainloads the "bootx64.win10.efi" from the same partition, and will not stay dormant after a reboot.
Nothing else.

As the sole purpose of MyBootMgr is to configure RefindPlus and OpenCore and as you have stated that OpenCore is not for you, it would follow on that the same would apply to MyBootMgr.

You could however go to the RefindPlus Repo on GitHub, download and install it and then disable whatever you want to disable in the config file and use this. Pretty much the same you could have done with OpenCore.

I reconfigured with MyBootMgr-081 but the same (APFS?) verbose still appears and no Bootcamp. I reformatted a SATA SSD HFS+ and installed on its EFI with no change.

I see. Please raise the issue on the RefindPlus GitHub repo. Link is in Post 1 under support options.

How does one get their macOS to start in Safe Mode with MyBootMgr?

I have two ways to boot macOS from the startup screen, one is through OpenCore and the other is just vanilla macOS. Would I choose vanilla and hold the shift key as normal?

No idea as MyBootMgr cannot start MacOS or any other OS in the first place. What it does is to configure RefindPlus and OpenCore such that they work together.

If you meant booting via OpenCore, then you could be able to hold down the relevant keys when running this (never actually tried this). If you meant booting via RefindPlus instead, then select the MacOS instance and click F2 to see the available boot options. (This is explained at the bottom of the RefindPlus main screen btw)

Boot argument "-x" should boot to safe mode.

Indeed. I just assumed he already knew that but wanted a one-off boot time option equivalent to the native implementation.

The boot arg is permanent so you have to go in again to remove it and remember to maintain whatever args you had before.

Ok, I am a cMP newbie (but not a MACOS newbie).

Through the ironic set of circumstances that compose my life, an almost pristine MP 3,1 landed in my home lab.

Single Xeon, quad core, 12MB, AMD 1200xt, two ~300GB HDs, keyboard and mouse. Now running High Sierra thanks to the dosdude patch.

Came across this thread and now it looks like I should switch to MyBootMgr. Just wondering if the first post in this thread is still the place to start for a newbie or is a better post to start?

Since there was no response, I did go ahead and start at the first post in the thread. There is a lot to digest there, even for somebody semi-familiar with Mac OS. I will keep reading until it sinks in.

I have further enlarged the notice in Post 1 that preempted your question and moved it to a more prominent location to reduce the chances of it being missed again. I also changed the text colour to black and made this bold as on reflection, it might have previously not been accessible.

Hello,
I try to install your package "082_MyBootMgr.dmg" but I always get error

Could not access required folder:
'/Users/Shared/MyBootMgr'

checked here
csrutil status

System Integrity Protection status: disabled

this on a New Install of High Sierra on MacPro 4,1/5,1 DualCpu with GT 120, bootdrive+ one other hard drive attached.

Is there something wrong with my system?
Thanks.

EDIT: this SSD from where iam booting has hosted an OC configuration before, but SSD has been wiped with clonezilla after issues with SIP/EFI partition.

I have ReFindPlus now installed manually (first ReFind, then changed .efi and .config to ReFindPlus) and it functions, but how can i add manually OC to chainload? installed OC manually on the same EFI as ReFindPLUS (NOT a MacOS Bootdisk), but nothing happens, plus, when i use a unflashed GraphicsCard, cannot see StartupItems (with ReFindPlus only, not BootMgr as it would not install)

Your opening statement suggests you have faced an issue while following the instructions given in Post 1.

However, to install MyBootMgr, you are supposed to run MyBootMgrSetup but it appears from the error message that you have instead accessed the package and then tried to run the components directly.

That is, it appears you have not followed the instructions in Post 1:

Hello Dayo, thanks, but no, i think just downloaded, opened the .dmg file and then "right-click" to open MyBootMgrSetup ... it asks for Userpassword, and afterwards comes the error message, everytime i try.

Resorted to install manully by

1. install Martin Lo OC 0.8
2. install refind manually
3. downloaded your latest package from github (mybootmgr) as zip
4. used clover configurator to open EFI where refind installed
4.a > replaced refindx64.efi with one of the two ones included in your zip-file (renamed to refind_x64.efi)
4.b > replaced refind.conf with config.conf (renamed config.conf to refind.conf)

now it sort of works, but it is not very elegant yet.

Had to re-upload the package to fix a bug introduced when fixing the previous.
So if v082a was downloaded before this post, please discard that and download again.
