That however is not a RAM issue since my wife‘s M4 iPad with 16GB RAM does it, too. It’s just how iOS/iPad OS is ‚designed‘.

You‘ll have to switch operating systems and hope they’ll do better (hint: they mostly don’t).
It’s Safari. Chrome on a Samsung tablet is miles better in that respect.

Compared to using less power.
But it does use less power, unless you are doing something that needs that power.

If you need that power, you need it; don’t nerf the maximum speed of the phone when it has no effect on battery life for normal tasks. There is a reason why we have efficiency cores.

If someone needs to convert 300Gb of ProRes footage to mp4 on their phone then yeah, that’s going to rinse the battery, but that doesn’t mean the phone is going to be more power hungry when browsing Safari and listening to music.

Don’t hamper pro features that some people use when it wouldn’t change anything for people who don’t use them anyway.

My point is that most people don’t need it, but most people still run into the situation of their phone running hot. And running hot is a direct consequence of reaching processing levels where the SoC isn’t that efficient anymore, and is wasting battery to unnecessarily heat the surroundings.

It’s great that Apple is improving efficiency every year. But they are counteracting these improvements by also raising processing power every year (note how in the keynote they are comparing efficiency at the same processing performance, not at the respective peak performance), which most users don’t actually need.

The mute switch should have stayed. The Action and Camera buttons should have been a single Action button. Outside Camera, long press launches customisable shortcut/app, double press launches camera. Inside Camera, restrict to only Camera controls.

While they’re at it, Siri should be triggered using a squeeze motion and would align well with the new Apple Intelligence animation. Bring back long pressing the side button for power off.

Crazy how many people in this thread are defending Apple.

Two years in a row we've had useless buttons added to the iPhone that nobody has asked for. Someone suggests we get a RAM bump up or better modem instead and they're told they're being unrealistic 😆

No wonder Apple get away with ripping us off every year.
This is going to blow your mind but not everyone thinks the buttons are useless. They may be useless to you, and you're entitled to that opinion, but you don't speak for everyone. Perhaps consider that your wants and needs are not universal.

So, what are you saying? The camera button is useless. The entire phone moves when you press it. Is that good?

I think you must be holding it wrong. My phone is more secure using the camera control, just like when I used the volume bottom, as you’re effectively squeezing the phone between your fingers. Tapping the screen you are pushing the phone away from you, causing it to move.

It’s useless as a camera button since the entire phone moves when pressing it.

This is like watching one of those infomercials where people struggle to drink a glass of milk without spilling it all over themselves.

Max Tech remains a complete joke of a review channel, always inventing ridiculous new "problems" every year to drive clicks on their videos.

I have yet to master this with the new camera button. It takes a bit more of a squeeze than the volume button because it’s not protruding from the body. Maybe I’ll get it eventually, but so far I’m in the camp of it being awkward as well. 🤷‍♂️

Edit: I also want this to work because it seems like it’s placed well. But so far in practice it hasn’t been very convenient. Maybe I do hold my phone different. Who knows.

My old Pixel 3a had the "squeeze" to activate Google Assistant feature, and it would go off sometimes. Thankfully, Google has provided a sensitivity scale and the option to turn it off.

I think camera control button would be more useful if it included Touch ID and could be used to scroll content without obstructing screen (although I don’t know how comfortable it would be) and it could be opened up for the third parties.

That makes no discernible difference in daily use though. Other than the phone running hot and draining battery more quickly.
It's not running hotter nor draining battery more quickly. Where did you get that?

Apple is pretty much the only company to run on 3nm chips currently, which is more energy efficient than any Android device basically.

3nm process can be more efficient but that greater efficiency can be used to reduced power consumption while maintaining processing throughout OR improving processing throughout while maintaining power consumption (or something between).

Apple has basically used the increased efficiency to increase processing throughput while maintaining power consumption. And improved battery life is mainly a result of battery updates.

Agreed; reminds me of that ad for the better bedder sheet thing which is filmed in grey with a bunch of useless people who can't even make a bed.

Why do they need to address that first? More demanding Apple Intelligence features could come in a couple of years regardless.
More demanding what? Hardware resources are always finite, thus optimising its use will always happen. Besides, Apple is not known for bumping its RAM/Storage on their Devices to force/nudge people to buy higher tier, where It is more profitable. Ever remember the 16GB base storage? Ever remember 1GB RAM iPhone 6/6 Plus? What is actually going to happen is Apple will try to keep 8GB of RAM as long as possible on iPhone, like it or not, and maybe introduce more RAM on 1TB/2TB iPhone models later, just like iPad Pro today.
