Yes, I would upgrade my phone to play this game (although I don't need to because i have a modern mac and iPad pro). But since I'm already an iPhone user and would own one anyway, I would actually rather have invested in a newer iPhone over a whole PS5 i barely use.
That's what most normal adults would do.

I'm on a 13 Pro Max now that is turning 2yo when I renew my contract for a 15 Pro Max. Whether RE4 came out or not I'd still be renewing every 24 months until I die.

So RE4 being available without my needing to buy a gaming PC or console is a bonus.

Apple knows users like me are already replacing their mobile phones on a schedule for nearly 3 decades already. This is not a problem for me or other users with my profile.

Are you buying the game?

We will see how smart or not smart they are in a few years. I think will not be successful with this strategy. you mentioned once their market cap. I see they are already losing.
So apple lost more than the market today.

I dont think you understand how market cap works or how billions of other people who never owned a gaming PC or console lived their lives.

It may come to a shock to many that not all PCs come with AMD or Nvidia dGPUs. Most are sold with weak iGPUs. Millions of users would never upgrade their RAM or HDD. They're more likely to buy a whole new laptop 5-6 years later.

A replacement that slow breaks gaming PC practices where in they replace parts sooner than 5 years.

In the past hours I don't think he understand how businesses works. Or even know how Apple does business.

I think what he fears is that Apple and Google will eat into the revenue of the incumbents that may trigger higher prices due to worsening economies of scale. Fear of the unknown is a trigger as well.

I was alive prior to the launch of the 1995 PlayStation & 2001 Xbox.

I know that the switchover from Atari & Sega wasn't as bad as many may think.
Same, I grew up with NES and Sega. I don't understand why people want this to fail so badly but I think the folks who do are just coming from a place of ignorance. I mean, we're literally having to explain to people that this isn't the same game that came out almost 20 years ago, as if it would even make sense for that to be big news. I've been playing RE games since the late 90s, and I have played all of the modern versions including RE2 Remake, RE4 Remake, RE7 Biohazard, and RE8 Village, so it's obvious to me why this is a big deal. Seems like people just want to see Apple fail.

Do i think apple is going to become known for their gaming? No. They've tried a bunch of times to make gaming a thing and it never takes off. Do i hope they succeed this time? Sure do.

So why are you trying to make out as a meddler when you're not buying? 😳
Mostly because I want the games I want on the platform, which for Capcom is Megaman and Street Fighter for me.

If I can get all you guys to buy maybe they will burn some cycles to make those happen.

We will see if apple becomes a big player in the games business or not. We will see if apple still be under the top companies regarding market cap.
Non-triple A gaming is nearing or is already saturated with Apple leading revenue.

They are expanding to the market adjacent: triple A games.

They never seriously attempted it as their business process and technologies were not a fit for it or flexible enough. It was better served by other players. It was easier money to go after casual gamers.

As they need more growth so they're entering it correctly with competitive tech.

There are many doubters especially those who love gaming PCs & consoles but as I said previously your user profile is their final target.

Their initial targets are people who'd never buy those hardware. They just want to play 1-2 triple A title on their existing or future smartphone.

You can argue that they should buy what you have but they'll never do so. They know the value of their time and money and an investment of any gaming PC or console necessitates around 10 titles to make it worth it.

Intereating. So you tell how genius apple is with this step but even you don’t buy this game. Me neither. It will flop.
I look beyond RE4 when it comes to Apple's long term iPhone strategy. If it flops then it is just advertisement expense.

Sixty dollars for a Gamecube game? Wow. Just... wow.
It's a 6 month old game. It's currently on sale for $39.99 (reg. $59.99) on the Playstation store and at Gamestop.

Smart move.

No doubt other titles will come to Apple devices.

The citations of my post that you quoted is supporting your reply to me.

If the new user is just buying 20% of the quantity of games of a typical console then why a console?

Buy a Switch just for 1-2 games only when it is already available on any smartphone with ray tracing & 8GB RAM they likely already have or scheduled to buy within the next 5 years?
I'm not sure if I understand your point.
Switch is completely different.it has it's unique IPs and library that cannot be found anywhere else.and that's it's selling point.
The iPhone cannot match the quality and performance of a real gaming console, and I explained why.
battery life limitation, small screen, need for controller attachment, are some of those problems.
people who game on smart phones and tablets play different types of games than those who game on consoles/PC.
just because the phone has 8GB of ram and do some form of ray tracing doesn't mean it's ideal for gaming.

Persons buying a gaming PC or console tend to have around 10 games attached to it.

With that use case then the hardware is worth buying into.

But if the use case is 1-2 games over nearly a decade then settling for an iPhone, Android, iPad or Mac may be a better value proposition.

These are the users Apple and Google are going after. They can be found within the more than 5 billion iPhone & Android active users worldwide.

So say worst case only 1% of that 5 billion are interested. That translates to 50 million new users.

Assuming all those new users buy $60 RE4 then that is $3 billion for a 2023 port of a 2005 game.

Those 50 million users will at most spend $60 using a phone they have now or scheduled to buy within 3-5 years & never have to spend for gaming PC or console + TV.

You're skipping that this is also available for macOS, you're making assumptions about the quality and performance, and ignoring the fact that some of us don't want to spend $500+ on a console for a couple of games we might want to play. Personally, I'm hoping the next gen AppleTV has this level or better capability, and that'll be enough for me to buy the occasional $60 AAA game for several years.

I see your argument. But it’s only valid if you have a device which can run this game. Would you upgrade your iphone only to be able to play this game? I bet no. It’s a better idea to get the console instead.

Not in an extreme case but in less extreme cases — why not? I upgraded to a PS5 for just Returnal at launch. There will be games that support older iPhones like there are still games coming out that support PS4. If you like a piece of software enough it can help make your purchasing decisions.
