iPhone 13 Pro, on 16.0.3

I have tape to wake delay, as well as scroll/tap delay after using spotlight or exiting an app (I either have to scroll/tap twice, or wait 2-3 seconds)

I have an appointment at the Genius Bar this upcoming Wednesday because I dropped my phone last week so I thought it was a display issue

Might just be a software issue after all lol
It looks my issues have been fixed with 16.1

My experience was the following: I tried several settings, restarts etc. but the lag never disappeared. I tried to turn off this search field just to try, and right after turnig it off the lag immediately gone. I restarted and never turn this field on. For about 5 days i have no lag at all, and today i tried to turn on the search field. Right after turnig it on in the next minute the lag appeared again.
It seems to be the solution

I believe you’re right, tap to wake has not failed yet since the update and I haven’t seen any lags or stutters at all even before this. The tap to wake hesitation was the only issue with my 14PM.

Something happened here too. I don’t know if it was because I turned off the search menu on Home Screen or due to iOS 16.1

Hope I'm not speaking too soon, but looks a lot better to me since updating to iOS 16.1 .. haven't tried the search button hack yet. Will give that a shot next if this doesn't hold. But most of the lag I consistently experience is in the morning right when I take the phone off of charging, so that'll be the real test. Will report back..

Seems okay so far. Memory management is better than 16.1 RC but that build had my safari tabs reloading every time I switched to another app. Saw the lag when swiping up 1-2 times so far but otherwise stable. I would recommend to everyone who experiences this issue to update to 16.1 public + turn off the search button that replaces the page dots

The issue existed in RC. Updated to the version released yesterday, turned off background app refresh and just started seeing the stutters again now.

I restarted all devices this morning as I always do the day after updates. Everything still smooth as butter here. And I have had no tap to wake lag as I frequently had before on my 14PM.

For those of you thinking that this has been fixed with 16.1, it hasn't. It takes a little time after installing but it for sure shows back up. Either Apple isn't aware of it, or they are and they don't know how to fix it.

Everything was fine without that swipe up lag UNTIL I opened the Photos app, then I saw that dreaded swipe up stutter. Ugh.
I just went through my Photos and there is still no lag. This seems to be a very isolated issue. I’ve asked several times on the Apple beta forums and I’ve not had even one reply from anyone aware of this. I’ve not seen any mention of it outside of this thread. Even among my friends who have new and older phones none have mentioned this when I’ve asked.

Whatever may be causing this to be seen by those posting here would seem to be specific to those users. Perhaps some app or setting that most others don’t use. A software or perhaps some specific app update in the future might resolve it but that could be a long time.

Still no lag for me - but I do have search disabled on home page as i prefer swiping down for spotlight.

I did all kinds of test with Apple Support, no dice (that was before the 16.1 update) so we booked an appointment at the Genius Bar for tomorrow

Now that the problem seems to be gone, I think I'm gonna cancel it

Its not isolated at all. Its a known issue with the OS. Some people notice it, others don't.
