This solution only fixed for one day...

My apologies I am only seeing this thread now but have you tried and considered the “Reset all settings” route?

This will reset the entire plist settings that might be causing the issue as it may not be a bug but rather a symptom of a bad .plist config.

It shouldn't be that much. On the 13 Pro Max it doesn't happen and everything is smooth and I close apps in the same way. I have already said that I have called support and they have numerous reports of this bug and I am aware of it so it is clear that it is a UNIVERSAL problem and they are iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max! It is useless to deny or say that the problem does not exist. It exists and is for everyone.
I’m laughing at people now. Nothing else left to do. If they really use their iPhone like I do, 6 hours/day, they will surely see it, on each and every sold iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max.

Nor have I - 14PM. And I know what it looks like, having had it on an earlier phone & build.
I’ve bought 3 iPhones 14 pro max. Yes, I am an Apple maniac. The first one was on France with 512Gb, the second one on China with 256Gb and the third one on the USA with 1Tera. I didn’t buy them all at the same time, obviously, so it can’t be attributed to possible previous versions. All the three iPhones have the same issue. Considering that only 10% of the iPhones are affected, I won the lottery with the odds of 0,001. LOL.

I’m not affirming that some people can’t see it because they’re dumb, blind, ignorant, etc. but that the stutter may be triggered by a combination of settings and apps on most iPhones. Susceptibility is present in each and every iPhone 14 Pro/Pro max. If I apply my settings and install my apps on your iPhone, we’ll see the stutter.

I think you have it in the last paragraph - some combination of settings, etc. that causes the problem. I had the problem in spades with the 12 Pro Max and an earlier iOS release and fully appreciate the frustration for anyone dealing with it. It would be interesting to test a phone out of the box with no additional installs, just the stock apps and default settings.

I’ve tried to do it. I’ve reseted one out of the three and just installed the stocks apps applied the basic settings. But I ended up not using the phone. I need my phone, my settings and my apps. So we can’t know for sure.

That’s why it’s being reported by so few people. Even through this thread it’s mostly the same ones mentioning this over and over. No one else is going to have your exact settings, your exact apps, and use the device and the apps in exactly the same way as you. I’ve asked on other forums even the Apple beta forums several times, even once specifying the new 14 phones, and I got exactly one response from someone who said that he’d never seen any such issue. One response on various forums, other than here. An issue obviously exists for some, I do know that I’ve had a couple issues in the past dealing with a physical keyboard and Mail as well as Safari that got very few responses because most don’t use them the way I do. When I finally got someone willing to do precisely what I described he said he could see what I was talking about but since he never uses it that way it really wasn’t much of an issue. I suspect this is the same pattern here. Most don’t use the devices the same way you do and will never see this, for them, and myself, unless I don’t make proper contact with the screen, there isn’t an issue.

I know with my own previous “phantom” issues a year or so later they were resolved, probably because of some other fix that just happened to have an effect on my situation. My guess is that this stutter will follow the same pattern.

Yeah, there's that and then the tedium of trying to replicate the issue on that device. It's the kind of test Apple would hand over to an unpaid intern.

That Apple forum thread is 2 years old and the last post over a year ago said ios 14.5.1 fixed all the stuttering. I’m not sure that old thread is indicative of anything other than some people did have an issue, I don’t think that’s in doubt and maybe a future release will fix this current run but when one thing clears up there’s usually something to take its place. My wife currently has deleted message conversations continue to reappear on her phone each time she restarts. Some were deleted weeks and months ago. I have seen that in the past but nothing like it recently, and haven’t seen any other similar posts in quite a while.

Simply pointing out that this same issue occurred in the past and that Apple resolved it, leading to hope that they see a possible correlation and path to a fix.

It's funny because in my group of friends (who all bought the 14PM on launch day, 4 different people) we all have the problem. 100%. What's also true is that we all use a similar combination of apps. What we surely all have in common are Instagram and Telegram... but beyond that, who knows? We also make a very intensive use of the iPhone. Maybe users who make a "lighter" use of the iPhone see it less or not at all?

One of you should install the public 16.2 beta 1. I can't tell it's a beta, it's flawless and no animation stutter. I'm scared to update to 16.2 beta 2 when it's out because beta 1 has been so good.

My problem with 16.2 beta 1 is that apparently you can't swipe out of the camera when opening it from the lock screen. And that's one of my main uses for the iPhone. If that's broken, it would be hugely annoying to me. So I'll have to skip this beta.

it’s not perfect but it’s much better. When I restarted on iOS 16.1, in a few hours the stutter was back.

I suppose I am lucky...a good few days on 16.1 now (well, since it came out) and haven't had a single instance of the issue..

Is it only when swiping up?

Tap delay or having to tap a 2nd time has also been an issue

And sometimes swiping left to previous page as well
