Guys, really appreciate the wallpaper posts.

But a few people are just posting blown up 2048x2048 pictures. I don't see the point of doing that. If you truly have a hi-res image post it, but these blown up low-res images are not making any sense here.

All the star wars pictures two pages back are a good example. Really blurry when you look at it full size.

Most wallpapers out there aren't even close to 2048x1536 resolution, let alone being 2048x2048 to properly fit the iPad in either orientation. So we have to use what's available. Most of those Star Wars ones that I posted have been enlarged and sharpened to the best of my abilities. I will admit the 2 I grabbed directly from the movie don't look that great (Theed Palace & Coruscant Space), but the others still look pretty decent when viewed on the iPad.

I always try to find the highest quality images of whatever subject I'm looking to use for a wallpaper, but sometimes I have to deal with bad jpg compression or lower resolution than I'd like.

Earlier in the week, Tom's Hardware noticed that Safari on the new iPad was automatically scaling large images down significantly.

Large images were automatically scaled down to near 1 megapixel resolutions. This means that if you are viewing large images through Safari, you aren't getting the full Retina experience. A workaround mentioned is to save the image to Photos which seems to preserve the original resolution.

To everyone who noticed that on the iPad the retina wallpapers are showing up as 1024x1024 in Safari, MacRumours posted an article on the front page which says Tom's Hardware found that this is happening. Saving them to the Photos app will still result in the original 2048x2048 images.

Do you have the top photo in a res to fit a Mac

Macbook15inch?

Would be great, is that the Mountain Lion wallpaper.....if not it should be!

Yup, that's the default Mountain Lion wallpaper. Here's the full size 3200x2000 wallpaper.

Can someone pleeeeeze make a Houston Rocket retina wall paper?
I'm a huge fan and can never find any high quality ones!!

A favor, please.

Hello. Wondering if anyone might have a Pittsburgh Pirates, or Pittsburgh Penguins wallpaper? Thank you.

Would someone be able to convert this image into New iPad Retina Display wallpapers? This is one of my favorites. Also if you are super skilled or ambitoius, perhaps you could make a version that includes the new X (for A5X chip).

Thanks ahead of time if someone can do it!!!!

The image wasn't big enough, it's not as simple as just making it bigger as the iPad can do that itself and it looks crap,

I'm interested in an A5X chip wallpaper, too (just without that ugly blue tint).

still, I liked the idea (even though it looks nothing like the insides of an actual iPad) so I got to work, I managed to stumble across the original circuit board image on google while looking for a suitable replacement, turns out on its own it was plenty big enough, so a while later after some photoshopping I ended up with these...

Hope you like them.

EDIT: updated images as it was pointed out the A5X text was not in line.

EDIT 2: updated again to blend the white boxes in to match the surrounding colour

A5x

I doctored up the chipworks scan of the actual A5X. Makes a great lock screen.
