Don't take this stuff lying down. The only way for your voice to be heard is by saying "no" to this company by returning your phones. Put a nastygram in the return box, too.

NO!

Not going to happen, Jean. You can return yours while I continue to enjoy mine.

Where are you going to go, Android? LOL!

I am sure the nasty gram will make a huge difference!

That's really it. The way this has been done is very troublesome, but at the end of the day I spent years with Android phones and I don't ever want to go back into that cesspool.

7.3/10 too much salt. They should have been transparent about it, yes.

I'm not going back to Android though. The only reason I'd even consider buying an android device again is to read/write NFC tags, and even then Apple claims they're doing something with NFC soon(tm), so even that need may vanish.

Why is this such a scandal? I legitimately don't understand why some people are so up in arms about this...
Unless like a nice majority of iOS users were to "return" their devices, your little protest would be quite ineffective. Good luck!

Ok No. It’s a non story. Yes Apple do slow your phone down but there is a benefit to it, it preserves battery life.

So can we take it that you the OP have returned yours, and we will be seeing less of your ridiculous threads. Also for the record I will be returning NONE of my iPhones. I will also continue to purchase them. Thanks

Another problem with the "return your phone" theory is that the phones that you can return are precisely the ones that don't need to be returned. :( My iPhone 7 is theoretically subject to Apple's undisclosed and involuntary throttling, but at 15 months old you can't detect it at all - it still performs at the top of the GB benchmarks. The phones that really need attention are the 6 and 6S, and unless you bought a refurb recently there's no way to return it.

And, as I said, as bad as things can be in the Apple ecosphere, Android is simply a tar pit. Instead of dealing with one bad actor, you have to deal with the unholy quad of your carrier, the hardware manufacturer, the app developer who operates in the Wild, Wild West, and Google as Dark Lord of the OS.

Love it.... People angry against apple for slowing their phones down in the belief it is to get those people to upgrade to the latest iPhone listen to other companies stating Apple should allow users to replace their batteries instead.... Don't they realize the companies( iFixit, etc) have a vested interest in their opinion of what Apple should have done instead? Granted a battery replacement is cheaper than a new phone, but of course iFixit would be biased in their opinion of how Apple should have handled it because they want your money too.

Thanks for saving me from evil Apple, OP, it is all you!

I am not suprised Apple is using this technology to make peoples phones last longer. Afterall better to have a working phone then a dead one. However I think this should be an option and not forced upon users through an update. Just inform users of this when the new update is there so people take the decision themselves.

Seriously: The way Apple handled this whole story is disgraceful, but there was nothing worse than my 6 randomly shutting down while being at 30 - 40% battery. When having to choose between reduced performance and this behaviour, I choose the first one, hands down. All the time.
