Don't take this stuff lying down. The only way for your voice to be heard is by saying "no" to this company by returning your phones. Put a nastygram in the return box, too.

Sure... come pry it out of my cold, dead hands. No issues with my iPhones here... I'm using a 7+ as my daily driver... but still use a 4S and a couple of 5S devices for specific purposes... no issues with "slow down" thing at all.

That must be the funniest comment of the year! You win!

Funny enought my iPhone was fine before Apple protected it, now I am happily using a Xiaomi and will not look back.
Sounds like it all worked out for you.

Wait until next year when your 7+ slows below your 5S ;)

The 5S isn't affected. Strange, because it also uses lithium batteries. Must just be magic.

My 4S feels faster than my 6 despite the 6 being four times more powerful.

They don't mind their phones slowing down.... especially the hardcore iSheep. They will applaud it.
There’s a lot of people with poor reading comprehension flapping their arms about this. The slowdown only happens with phones with degraded batteries. Smart phone batteries sadly only last about 2 years of normal use before their charge capacity is noticeably degraded. If you want full speed back, replace the battery... simple.

No I’m pretty sure everyone understands that. You seem to be the one with poor reading comprehension since people have already stated their experiences dealing with Apple and them suggesting they upgrade instead of replacing the battery and have refused to do so despite them offering to pay for a battery replacement. People shouldn’t have to meet some incredibly specific condition in order to have something fixed or replaced on their phone. So no, not simple.

Whatever one might think of Apple, anyone who uses the term “sheep” in an Apple context, views the world in a very, very superficial way. Poor reading comprehension comes with it.

Not talking about critics, talking about people who view things this simplified. Also, the term is overused AF.

Nah, I’ll hold on to mine. I’m happy with my purchase and certainly won’t be switching to Android. I’ve been down that road before. Never again.

Agree. Fortunately, Apple is not doing that! Phew. Great news, so you can relax.

So, Apple is not crippling hardware to push upgrades. Half their engineering team would quit in anger if that were the case.

What Apple is doing is protecting your device, extendng its life.
[doublepost=1514108222][/doublepost]

Apple puts the most expensive internals in their devices, so what gives you the idea they are cheaping out? I am no expert, but everything I’ve read so far tells me they have some of the best batteries in the industry - so, you’ll have to do better than “Apple penny pinches”. Seriously, anyone has any info here other than anecdotal evidence?

I agree Apple isn't crippling hardware to push upgrades, they are doing to to avoid doing a larger recall on batteries in iPhone 6s models with manufacturer defective batteries. The normal wear and tear is exposing the the defects. iPhone models before the iPhone 6 didn't need this throttling.

If Apple uses the best batteries, why was there a small battery recall for iPhone 6s models? It is a fact Apple has admitted some of the batteries are bad due to manufacturer defects. The only uncertainty is if Apple fully knows which serial numbers are affected.

I was outraged when my 6 month old 3s was denied all access to warranty service because moisture dots were "tripped." In a phone that was never near water save for the water vapor in the air.

But I was offered a refurb with a crippled warranty in exchange for my 6 month old device and $100. Screw that. I suffered through having no WiFi until I could dump that piece of ****.

Never did I have a happier "tech related" day than when I received a check from Apple for the little moisture dot ******** they pulled. Winged that completely non-functional POS at a brick wall the same day.

Not the first time I had problems with an Apple product, but it was definitely the last. Apple is a vile company IMO, based completely on my personal experiences. But all of you have the right to whatever opinions you have. I'm not going force my opinions on you nor suggest that you take any form of action.

It's your money, you have your own opinions, do whatever the hell you want!

But I'll also agree with many of you in saying that the options SUCK.

I love my Samsung devices. AS LONG AS THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THEM. My GS5 was bricked b/c I accidently (with a dose of stupidity involved) factory reset it. FACTORY RESET PROTECTION only works when Samsung doesn't F up whatever they f'd up that didn't properly link my Google account to my phone.

Customer service basically told me to eat **** for weeks b/c I bought the phone at Costco, and Costco doesn't print a damn serial number or IMEI on the receipt. Even copies of my Verizon bill showing the IMEI, THAT WERE NOTARIZED BY VERIZON, wouldn't get my phone unlocked. (Would have loved a $100 refurb offer at that point).

Within 48 hours of submitting a BBB case, I had an RMA and prepaid shipping lable from Samsung.

Sorry for the long winded post. But the point is that all of these companies just don't give a **** about their customers, unless they get taken to task in "the court of public opinion," or literally in the court.

Again, all IMO!

Oh, and before anyone asks, I'm here because TapaTalk seemed to think I wanted to see this thread, and I got sucked in. LOL.

Merry Christmas, and may all your electronic gear meet your expectations, regardless of platform or manufacturer.

What Apple is doing to their customers is called sodomy.

What Apple did was they used the iPhones' sealed battery as the kill switch timer. So the more you recharge it, the slower it gets. Within a year depending on how much you use it and the temperatures, a battery can degrade down to 80% of its capacity. In less than a year it can happen. So Apple basically added a feature to "sabotage" your perfectly working iPhone based on the life expectancy of the sealed battery.

What do you call Kevin Durant and Tim Cook sitting next to each other in an airliner? "Snakes In A Plane."

You realize that the "sealed" battery can be serviced by Apple for a relatively small fee?

I don’t take hearsay in forums as fact. Nice try though.

apple is just like all the others.... like there is a better choice

I think you misunderstood. You didn’t use the term “sheep”, but the person you were quoting. My comment was meant to be a follow-up to what you said, because I agreed with your comment. Never mind.

I’m not returning anything. Thanks for attempting to tell me what to do. Oh yeah and the OP should really stop selling wolf tickets.

My guy at the mall kiosk has agreed to change out the battery on my X once a month so I never have the throttle.

the solution isn't send your phones back, unless you're *that* done,

the solution is don't update your phone, hold tight, and don't buy another iPhone for a while.

Haha you aren’t being serious are you?

It's $55 for the battery and $75 for the labor, and he has to keep it for 2 days.

Since I'm on the monthly program, if I prepay for 13 batteries I get 1 free. So it's going to be $130 + $11 tax or $141 a month or $1,692 a year. I don't have a phone for 26 days. But this way I avoid the throttle.

But if its iPhone X, couple things:
1) 3rd party repair messes up water resistance seal if thats an issue for you (same with 7/8),
and warranty in general if they detect its been opened by unauthorized repair
2) the battery doesn't wear so fast you need to swap your battery monthly
3) right now, as far as we've been told by Apple, X doesn't have "throttle feature" so this is the utmost concern, don't update your phone anymore to avoid it.

$55 for battery AND $75 FOR REPAIR too? yikes.

its $79 for battery+repair total (pre-tax) at apple. and even if they denied me, for a battery not degraded in their diags but slowing down my phone, id rather argue with a manager every time over paying $130 for 3rd party

Annnnnnnnnnnnd the OP is suspended, AGAIN. What is is with these threads? I have yet to have an Apple product let me down. I also don't hold onto my phones for more than a year so I am never affected by any "intentional slowing" or "battery defects". Moving on...
