Every time I see the ultra now it makes my nipples invert, just so un-Apple and phugly.

Annoyingly, I would like a night mode and gps indicator on the regular series, I think it’s a bit lame it is not offered (watchos10 maybe?).

“nipples invert” 🤣
I don’t think it’s ugly at all, especially with a good band. Agree wholeheartedly on night mode. Should be on all Apple watches.

Sounds like it is time to go 3rd party. I did for the Nomad Titan band.

Yep, will look into it! Appreciate it.

I like the S8 more for the office... I probably wouldn't daily an ultra until revision 3 or 4

I think Ultra 2 will surprise folks. Maybe an Apple Watch Pro? Seems like an obvious market for execs that want a little more punch. As I’ve stated, I’m not seeing athletes looking at or buying Ultras currently.

I returned my Ultra, not that it's a bad watch but it didn't WOW me. I have a 6 that suits me fine. If I was a first time buyer, I'd get the Ultra over the AW8 but will wait for future versions and hopefully a really significant battery upgrade and better data management without 3rd party apps.

....My Fenix 6X sapphire does 60 hours in GPS mode, 21 days in smart watch mode...

I tried the Ultra for almost 2 months. I liked some of the additional features it has over the S7/S8, but I found it uncomfortable due to the weight and the fact that the weight seems to ride kinda high off the wrist. I kept having to adjust bands precisely to be comfortable and even then I'd feel fatigue. I know many folks don't have these issues, but I am one of the folks that did.

Fortunately, I have a GrSS S7 that I like. I can revisit things when the S9 and Ultra 2 are out. 😃

I found it surprisingly light tbh... I've always used the SS variants of apple watches so I guess I am used to the weight. But when I first picked up the Ultra I was shocked at how light it felt... I guess I was mentally expecting it to be heavier due to its size and chunky body.

But I think if you didn't get used to the size after 2 months you were right to get rid of it, at least you gave it a fair shot.

Welp. After 30 days I returned my Ultra. The watch is amazing and I wanted to keep it. For some reason I just couldn't get accustomed to wearing it so I'm back to my trusty 5-year-old Series 3 for now.

Love my Ultra. The normal Apple Watch just doesn’t look rugged enough for my tastes. It also was never a dress watch for me either whatever edition or strap you had as it still just looked like a smart watch.

My Ultra looks more the part for my active lifestyle and I have a nice automatic dress watch for more formal occasions. Nice two watch combo.

I am late to this thread - I tried the Ultra on today in an Apple Store. Put simply, I think it looks worse than the standard model. I have a S7 green aluminum that I love. I want a “lighter” version and I am considering trading in an old gold S5 for a starlight or gold version. Ultra just didn’t speak to me. It’s all personal though, I have seen Ultras on others arms that look good

3. Lighter but as robust as the stainless steel models with the better crystal glass.
I see this repeated often, and while it was true in the past that the titanium models were lighter than their equivalent stainless steel, the Ultra is basically 10g heavier than the S8 in steel.

I thought the same. It appears bulky. It isn’t, at least when it’s on the wrist. Most of the people I know that have been interested in one or bought one, even looking at them with buyer’s intent in the Apple store aren’t athletes, at least in appearance. There’s a market gap with these. I see it.
I see people in suits with massive Garmins or Apple Watches all the time

This is absolutely true but you tend to expect the ULTRA to be much heavier so it is an illusion.... maybe.

The titanium accessories that fit on the ULTRA are much lighter (e.g. NOMAD metal watch straps). I have equipped my Ultra with a NOMAD titanium metal band (for times when the fabric band does not feel appropriate) and the SS S7 graphite with the NOMAD matching SS graphite strap (there is no matching titanium option). Weight is 140 gram for the SS 7 with matching NOMAD watch strap. ULTRA with the NOMAD titanium band weights 115 grams. Incidentally the ULTRA wieghs 59 grams without strap and the S7 SS wieighs 50 grams. If I could get a titanium graphite band from NOMAD I would do so but it is only available in the native Titanium color.

So your statement is true but I was thinking more of the complete watch and strap in my case. Apologies.

I am experiencing similar. I picked up a Withings Scanwatch today, and although it is heavier than the Ultra (case only), I find the lower profile actually makes it a lot more comfortable to wear. At least so far. I may pick up an original Garmin Instinct now that they are pretty cheap to use when I need an actual rugged watch. I could use the Withings and the Garmin and still spend less than the cost of the Ultra.

Had an Ultra since launch day, but will be selling it. I tried to get used to the size and weight, but decided it wasn't for me. Since I gave away my SBTi S6 to a friend I settled on an S8 in Al. Happy camper.
Went from a S7 SBTi this week to the Ultra and LOVE it! Yes it’s big and chunky but feels more like a real watch and love the features.

The leather links and Sports loops etc. makes it a big smaller wearing imo

I am a bigger guy but have small wrists (lol) but I have had the ultra since Christmas and wear it every day. I don't find it to be too big or heavy at all. I also regularly wear it to sleep as well. I don't see myself ever returning to an aluminum-model Apple Watch again. Plus getting like three days of use on a single charge is amazing.

Well, didn’t return my ultra but after 3 months I’ve swapped it out for an Omega Marstimer. Obviously very different watches but got tired of the constant charging needed for the Apple Watch. Size began to come back to haunt me to.

Sure there will be days when I wear the ultra but not for the time being.

I don’t plan on returning my Ultra, but it very well may be the last Apple product I ever buy. I’m sick of their obnoxious, blatant cash grab, of not including the stupid charging brick. Sure, I’ve got dozens of the old USB-A bricks kicking around. However, when my shiny new $800 watch arrived, I had no way to charge it. I still love the watch, but can’t get the bad taste of Apple out of my mouth.
