Are you returning your Xs/Xs Max for the Xr?

So after owning a Xs Max I have decided that I am going to return it and wait for the Xr.

The reasons why you might ask...

I can think of 5 great reasons.

1. Image persistence/retention
2. Blue shift
3. PWM sensitivity
4. Battery efficiency
5. Saving $

Just wondering who else is following suit?

I’m glad I didn’t buy the lesser model this year. Definitely not following suit.

How I wish we could fast-forward to the turn of midnight, 10/19.
Yes to that!!! Cause I’m stuck with this little Nokia until then. Oddly enough though it’s kind of cool, because when I get the Sr it’s going to be all the more sweet after being forced to use this old school phone for a few weeks. I am trying to think of it like cleansing the pallet. ;)

Dumb question alert, but what does Apple do with the phones that have been used for 14 days then returned?

They have to go through a ‘restore process’, and then Apple will usually replace the displaynin most cases, likely not the battery if the phone is that new and the battery tested good, then they will be sold as a ‘white box replacement’, which essentially is a new phone with a one year warranty.

Wish there was a way Apple could surpise us and bump this release date up a week.

So…which color is everyone thinking? I’m boring and will most likely go with white or black, although I like all of them; I just happen to relatively easily tire of bright colors.

From which to choose we have:
  • PRODUCT(RED)™
  • Yellow
  • White
  • Coral
  • Black
  • Blue

I am now considering to downgrade from my Xs to XR...

I really love my Xs but I do feel that my eyes get tired so quickly and even start to hurt...
But I already invested so much money in a case and screensaver that I don’t really wanna loose...
though decision...

White or blue for me.

Agreed! I buy mine outright. I am not getting stuck in some ridiculous payment plan with my carrier.

I only do payments so I can trade in every year for the newest. I used to buy mine outright intending to sell them when upgrading but usually just gave them away to kids as handmedowns. Trading up is worth an extra 40 a month for me to always have the newest. To each theor own tho

Yet again this morning I woke up to wonky internet connectivity on the Xs Max. I’m telling you this thing has poor reception and that’s even on WiFi with the router in the next room. It’s truly pathetic. No other device in the house has these issues. Including my wife’s iPhone 8 which has perfect connectivity. It’s going back to AT&T Monday.

Hopefully they've ironed out the kinks when the Xr finally rolls around

I’m going through the same thing. Eye problems and the prospect of returning everything that can be returned.

Whatever AT&T was doing in our area appears to be finished according to my husband. He tested with his Android phones and those now again have full bars of LTE. Our Maxes show fluctuations between 1-3 bars. Constant fluctuations.

My WiFi sometimes drops by one notch according to how I tilt my phone. WTH? I have never seen such weirdness. So I’m holding it wrong?

I have an 8 Plus but would really love a 2018 iPhone because I want the stereo audio recording capability and the camera improvements even if it means dropping back to a single lens. But I don’t know if the XR isn’t going to come with its own set of clusterclucks. They were allegedly delayed due to backlighting problems. I don’t want to know what kind of issues the new display is going to have.

Still, if I don’t preorder I wonder if I’ll end up in the same bind my daughter and I were in waiting for months to get an iPhone SE because we skipped preorders, thinking they’d be readily available.

Yep, you're holding it wrong... All I can do is SMH about the reception weirdness on this Max.

I too am a little concerned that the Xr might come with its own set of issues. Apple can't seem to get anything right out of the gate anymore. Pun intended...

My list against the Xs line keeps growing:

1. PWM sensitivity
2. Blue shift
3. Image persistence/retention
4. Battery efficiency
5. Reception issues
6. Saving $

The thing that bothers me about the pwm sensitivity issue is that Apple knew about it and had a year to do something about it. There’s been at least one forum member in communication with them about it. So they do know.

And I own several Android phones with OLED displays. It doesn’t have to be like this. Though honestly even my beautiful S9+ display isn’t quite as easy on my eyes as my 8 Plus display. But it doesn’t give me weird vague symptoms, either. And I can read my Kindle books on it.

I’m not sure what it takes to get Apple to act

To get Apple to do something requires an act of God aka. their biggest shareholders on the board. They could care less what us users want.

Now we are Xs phones that won't even charge. Apparently Apple is so completely ate up with secrecy that it doesn't even bother with beta testing anymore. WE ARE their testers. All the money in the world and yet they cannot seem to release a product that is bug free. Not even close to bug free sadly. It is pathetic.

I would be lying if I didn't say I was concerned about how stable the Xr is going to be. You know it is really sad when Apple's older products keep looking more and more appealing. Before it is said and done I very well might be back to my old 8.

The iPhone OLEDs use the exact same 240 Hz PWM frequency as the Samsung S9 Plus.

I guess that shouldn't come as a huge surprise, given that are all made by Samsung. (LG models will come soon.)

Sorry to tell you this but I have no issues with WiFi on my Max. Maybe cause I’m using AirPort and mine doesn’t seem to suffer from LTE or charging issues. Maybe mine is the outlier looking at all these threads, but I doubt it.
