ridiculous delay from 7200 rpm HD

Honestly I dont want to read thru so many pages of this. Have people been having problems with these drives? I contemplated ordering a 7200 RPM drive but if they're having shipping problems with it then I'll just go into the store and get a 5400 RPM 2.4 MBP.

When i customize one with a 7200 RPM it gives me a 7-10 day ship date. Still a while to wait but are there actual shipping delays beyond what is quoted on the website?

No problems with the 7200rpm drives. They've only been arriving with people in the last week.

I don't see there being any problems with the drives

my first post here!
im a switching to mac, sacred and excited at the same time...
im going to MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design) and most likely will be majoring in Advertising and they require all students to have macbooks through the school, but i talked with them and decided to get the macbook pro myself!

MBP SR 2.2GHz/15.4" Matte/160gb 7200
Ordered: June 29th
Ships by: Jul 11 - Jul 16
Delivers by: Jul 13 - Jul 20

I pray that it will not get delayed!! I already can't wait till the 13th, let alone 20th! I wish I could just go to my apple store, buy it, and upgrade the HD myself w/o voiding warrenty!!

I am getting worried now as well. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around the idea that others that ordered quite awhile after us have already received their computers. I am in the same boat as you. This will be my first venture with Apple and it has gotten off to a rocky start. I returned a really beautiful laptop that had Vista on it because I just hated the new Vista, by then I was in the middle of a major project and decided that I couldn't learn a new OS and still finish the project on time. So I ordered the day the SR MBP were released never dreaming that it would take this long to receive one. I know that I must sound like a petulant, whining child, but I just believe in fair is fair and I can't see the fairness in all this. If yours doesn't ship out by tomorrow, I'll think I am gonna have a good cry.

Congratulations to Fayler and MacDonaldsd. Sounds like you got perfect MBPs and I am both relieved and happy for you.
 
Probably a stupid question, but what is everyone using to check their cpu and computer temperatures. I'm a mac newbie for the most part so I have no idea.

idem... I don't know if it really works properly on my PowerBook though as it does not show fanspeeds (while I hear them running) and the temperatures always seem the same (when it's hot or when it's cold it shows 58 degrees)... This might of course mean that my PB is very capable in transporting the heat away from the processor ;) But I somehow doubt it is so efficient at it that it always shows 58 degrees :)

Well, I opted to replace my 2 week old Seagate 160 GB 7200RPM drive with the Hitachi 200GB. Anyone wanna buy the Seagate? Works perfectly and was purchased brand new from Transintl.com on June 6 for $199. They won't take it back, so I'll take a decent offer or put it up on ebay.

You know your mbp is on your way when you spend all night having nightmares that apple have changed their design and you realise you have a pink plastic computer with blue squidgy keys :)
