02 Jul 2007 20:03 Arnhem Hub Consignment Received At Transit Point

due for delivery tomorrow, my cc payment has gone from pending transaction to normal transaction so apple have taken the money.
so hopefully mine should be delivered tomorrow.

the spec is in my sig.

I have been on the phone today to apple (again), I ordered on the 5th June at 6:24. I said to them that others had ordered later than me with EXACTLY the same spec and are having theirs delivered..

He said that it can't be, because mine is a priority 1, I told him that I kow for a fact that glossy screens with 7200rpm are shipping to people in London - as usual they had no answer but instead said mine should ship tommorow, even though the estimated delivery is today!

I have no credit card activity - which he said happens after shipment? and I stil have the option to cancel. the people on the help desk just can't tell you what is going wrong - they either play the fool? or suggest that what you are telling them is incorrect, apple get your a*se into gear and check out your priorities!!

Priority 1, I don't think so. I really just can't believe this, it is just lousy and a poor way to conduct business. Do you think it would do any good for me to call Apple again, or just a waste of my time? There is no activity with mine either. I wish I knew how many others were in the same boat or do you suppose we are the only two?

4np what specs did you order your MBP with and when?

I think they are forgetting to build mine!

Hey Hans, I ordered it on the 6th of june (CET!) (MBP 15", 7200 rpm, matte), the money was paid on the 18th of june and it was shipped on the 28th of june.

ps. put this in your signature ;)

Koops and I both ordered on June 5th, neither has shipped. I believe koops ordered glossy and I ordered the matte, neither one has shipped. We have both called Apple, but they haven't been very forthcoming with any answers. Try calling them and see if you get anywhere with them and let us know.

I think you should call them (let them know that others that ordered later and already have theirs), let me know how you get on, the more people that let them know the better - then they might realise that they have buggered up - or maybe we are the only 2, but I doubt it?! anyone else orderd on the 6th or 5th June and not recieved there 15" MBP with 7200rpm HD?

Note though that we are all in different timezones; I ordered on june the 6th CET. New York -for example- is 6 hours behind us en San Francisco is 11 hours behind us. So if you order on the 5th in the US it may well be the 6th in Europe ;)

But I agree with you; it's weird that you did not even hear anything yet.

I'm in europe and it was about 4-5hours after they were released on the 5th I ordered. Even if it was the 6th, people who ordered on the 18th, 19th are getting theirs delivered so it makes little difference, just to have an honest answer form apple would be nice:rolleyes:

Well I obviously haven't recieved mine yet, and I ordered on the 5th (2pm, GMT) but I did get shipping confirmation and they charged me for it last week... so I'm pretty sure it's not too far away, they just won't tell me where it is!

I received mine on Monday morning here in London (15" matte 7200) and I ordered mine on the 12th of June. Unfortunately had to send it back same day due to yellowing on the bottom part of the screen. I'll have to wait in line again, oh well. Be prepared and don't get too excited when it finally turns up. :)

Where are you at then? :) Yeah you are right about that.... could it then maybe be a payment issue? Perhaps they are having trouble to get it from your credit card? Probably not though otherwise the sales rep would have probably told you; but on the other hand helpdesk / sales reps are not the smartest people ;)

Or perhaps your machines are getting built on the brand new revolutionary experimental chopstick production line. Takes a whole lot longer but you can always brag it's been made using only chopsticks for tools! :)

speculating here but maybe due to the known issues, apple decided to put the early orders at the back of the queue so that all of the issues will have been addressed and resolved before sending out any orders, hence why the latter orders have been shipped.
i ordered 27th June, and estimated delivery tomorrow. All looks well so far.
maybe they dont want to admit to the known faults else they will have a mass hysteria of people returning Macbooks and MBP's left right and centre.

Has anyone else gotten a yellow screen with the custom 7200 order and returned it? Did you have to send it to a service center, or did they just tell you they would exchange it? Maybe the extra delay for the 7200 is because they are trying to figure out the yellow issue...

While that may seem plausible (and koops got perhaps shifted twice) it does not explain why there was not a delay on the normal production line as well. Only on the 7200rpm BTO line?

Apple's explanation is that machines come from plants all over the US and more than one plant in China. These different facilities do not have the same stock/availability of parts (eg. 7200 RPM drives) nor are they equally fast at processing orders (some are slower than others, do less volume than others, etc.). Therefore orders placed with Apple are not shipped according to who ordered first, but rather, your order gets routed to a plant via some algorithm (unknown), and once your order is queued at a plant, it is fullfilled FIFO there (at that plant).

Apple tries to take all of this into account when they give out estimated shipping dates, but it's not a perfect overall estimate.

The people who take your order at Apple's online store have no way to knowing where your order is, though you could perhaps ask for a manager and press the issue.

Obviously, it's frustrating to hear claims that people who ordered after you did have already received their merchandise, whereas you have not.

I ordered June 15th, 15" 2.2 MHz matte, 7200 RPM, have not received anything and still is not being processed. I did receive the free printer within two days, however.

Oh well...

Just opened mine! Awesome machine, so thin and beautiful! I'll report back later, need to play with this thing and see if this yellowing exists.

edit:

Uh, the double quote and @ are in the wrong place... the american place. The rest seem OK. This is supposed to be a GB keyboard, or is that normal for macs?

Mine has now been "Prepared for shipment" for six days. I'm pretty sure from the various dates that people have been posting here that there is more than one shipment a week to Europe. Perhaps the dodgy screens all came from a particular source that they've been able to identify, and they're holding back the MBPs with those screens until they can be checked. Or maybe there really is no rhyme or reason to the shipping and it's just a lottery.

Sorry to hear that there's still no progress for Osprey, Koop and all the others who ordered a fortnight before me.

Yeah, I noticed this in the store, it is normal for the macbook pros not sure about other models

Where are they then? Have you got a photograph of it? On my PowerBook with NL keyboard (nearly the same as GB) the @ is on the '2' key (together with the € sign) and the double quote is above my right shift key (it shares that key with the single quote as well: ' :))

And now we're at it; the two most unusefull keys are the command and enter keys to the right of the space bar. I don't think i have ever used those two :)

I ordered mine around the 6th or 7th of June and received the computer last Friday. No problems at all with this computer. I was excited that I didn't have to wait the entire 5-7 week delay. I am satisfied with my upgrade to the 7200 hd, it's real fast.

Macdonald congrats on your new MBP! I'm very jelous! Did you order the Matte screen? sorry I forgot your sepc!

Sorry for the long wait for the reply, was out today then got distracted with installing what nots on my MBP :)

Yeah its matte, its extremely bright (compared to my PowerBook and a LCD monitor I have) its amazing. Besides it being amazingly fast the extra screen space is amazing.

Will be well worth it for everyone still waiting

Wow, clean that PB already....its marred by fingerprints.

It seems to just smear when I clean it. I will give it a good clean up soon. Its 3 years old and I use it everyday so its not too bad.
