ridiculous delay from 7200 rpm HD

Tonight, on Unsolved Mysteries at 11. The sudden lack of 15" MacBook Pros with no 7200 rpm hard drives cause several people to start a cult worshiping the god of technology. Where did they go? Find out tonight, on Unsolved Mysteries.
 
apple store--"chat now"

still no update on shipping dates, of course. (ordered 6/11, shipping 7/24)

on a whim i tried that "chat now" button in the apple store. it crashed camino, nearly crashed safari, and when it finally got up and running, it was a totally useless experience! the weird part though is after finishing the conversation, i'm still not sure whether i was talking to a human being or a bot. "Eileen" had zero information about anything, and just out of nowhere tried to sell me the applecare plan. bizarre...

waiting is the hardest part. :)
 
The 17" i ordered just shipped about 12 hours ago. I hope that all you guys waiting on the 15"ers get yours soon. Mine will be here on Monday.
 
Congrats, mate. I hope that we 15" get our soon. I'm starting to twitch big time.

I too tried the "chat now" thing and I pretty much got zero information. Kind of annoying.
 
Ordered my 17" MBP with a high-res glossy screen on the day they were announced and I just received delivery of it today. It's fantastic :)

Well...you suck, lol. This is about the 15" MBP people waiting for the 7200rpm drive.
 
I too am playing the waiting game for my ordered 15" mbp... i am seriously thinking of upgrading to the 17" mbp that will ship in 2-4 days...

If you ordered just one thing, and you don't have that yet, then I would assume that those last two would be greyed out.

If you do that I bet the 15" ones will start shipping the very next day!

That's why I'm sticking to waiting, and it'll be worth the wait in the long run!

But are you still able to click on "Cancel your order" and get to the cancel screen? When my FCE HD was about to ship and I'd click on that, I got a message saying it couldn't be cancelled via the web, that I had to call. So if you can still cancel your order it's doubtful anything's happening.

But hopefully I'm wrong and we'll get surprises!

I'd be a little scared cancelling, what if it actually did it!

i had the same options grayed out on my order, which i think is interesting given that we probably ordered at different times (i placed my order 6/11--still says shipping 7/24).

my cancel page still works. would be kind of cool if they used that new fujitsu drive (as long as it doesn't spontaneously burst into flames or anything), since it seems like a lot of people were debating the relative performance benefits of smaller capacity, higher rpm drives vs. larger slower drives with perpendicular recording. we could end up with the best of both worlds.

I have a feeling this is going to be a long couple weeks.

I know, it was only like 2 days later that they started shipping immediately! I keep hoping for that same surprise, but it's not looking good!:(

I ordered on 6/8.
