I have not looked at this thread or these phones in a while. I think when I do go for one...IF I go for one, it will be the Samsung Fold. I don't really like those dirty IP thieves at Huawei. And the Fold looks nice and sturdy and will do more damage when I bludgeon the muggers who try to steal it.

Apps, it's all about the apps, I hope Samsung has a lot cooking for it.

Don't forget the Fold is much thicker than the mate and has that gap that will allow you to grasp it more firmly as you Liam Neeson those muggers. I believe that's why the phone screen is so small, they knew it would be used ruggedly.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold also haves a crease.

Of course it does, it's a plastic display.

And the following isn't addresses specifically to you @Achillias but rather the general audience of the forum...

I'm still bewildered that people are either surprised by this or that they expect it to be perfectly smooth/flat as today's current glass displays.

This is exactly why I have little interest in these types of devices. Yay! It can fold up! But while you're actually using it...you know, the reason you actually have the phone ;), you're interacting with an undulating, plastic screen that will most definitely not be smooth and flat or without a crease.

Go dig out of those old plastic, resistive touch display devices from a decade ago out of a box or drawer and tell us how it compares to using a modern day smartphone. No thanks.

Lol, this is exactly why we didn't see any actual reviewers being allowed to use the device, instead we had that guy Samsung hired to show the device

Knew this was coming, was only a matter of time.
They both have a crease though. So if you criticise one, you can’t let the other off the hook. :D

Neither have been released & properly reviewed yet, so they could improve between now & then.

That's the point of this video to let people see. The design of the Samsung Galaxy Fold isn't necessary the better one what a lot of Samsung fanboys used as argument for the inside fold screen. They thought it would be crease free which it is definitely not.

Did anyone here say it would be crease free? I don't recall anyone saying that, on this thread anyway.

You could see the crease in the early video, it just wasn't as pronounced, like a bubble.
@51 seconds

I think the argument for the Fold being more polished was that the screen was less susceptible to being...well...polished, by debris and such.

I still really love the concept of the Fold, but at this point, my patience for new tech will be tested already with the new ultra sonic FPS on my S-10+ whenever it finally gets here.

So I’m probably going for the Note 10 for my go big or go home device of the year. I’m getting the S10+ relatively cheap so I’m not counting that as my go big device. :D

I do want to get back to the S Pen this year. I do hope the Fold will work with one. If not this year, then soon.

I don't have an issue with a plastic screen as long as the sensitivity is there. I really doubt Samsung would put out a bad product/screen, but I suppose we will see when the reviews finally come out. The crease is disappointing, but certainly not a deal breaker. What is a deal breaker is the tiny phone screen when it's folded, for the life of me I still cannot fathom why they made such a piss poor decision.

I like the look of the Fold personally....the display and most of the device looks great. I cannot imagine Samsung would not put a great display on the Fold....displays are one of the things they do very well.

But I agree with you on the front screen....
To me the whole reason to have the front screen is to do little things like messaging and such.
But that screen is just a little small for that from what I can see.
Might change my mind after reviews of people that buy the Fold and use it for a while.

Do you see anything referring towards the people on this board only. Re-read again. It's an general observation, based on the comments on different sites, boards and Youtube. It was even an argument for many to belittle the implementation what Huawei has done on the Mate X. Also the Samsung Galaxy Fold isn't more secure. The screen is made from plastic, it has an gap where the two screens folds together. Sand, dust or anything that can damage the screen can easily get in there. It isn't more durable or better than the other made from Huawei and it also haves an crease, which many thought it wouldn't.

I got to try the Mate X, absolutely impressed.

When is Samsung going to let us try the Galaxy Fold?
wait...so you're just here to troll the Fold? You already said how much you like the Mate X a few times over now....
At least with the Fold....I won't have the maker spying on everything I do...I get enough of that from Google and Facebook....

Nope, I want to give the Fold a go. I hope Samsung do a roadshow of sorts like Huawei to let us hold and play with the device.

I heard through the grapevine that these Foldables may only be sold to very high value customers by e.g. Banks and corporates, so it's going to be hard for many of us to give them a good go.

It seems like Samsung was trying to minimize this with the way it displayed it in a glass case and hands off. IMO the Fold will be much less prone to damage, but I don't know if that offsets the camera notch and ridiculous phone screen.

I dont need to reread anything.
I haven't heard anyone say the fold wouldn't have a crease, here or elsewhere.
That's why I asked.

As for what is and isn't, we just don't know yet, time with both devices is needed, durability can only be guessed.

The fold will be in the wild soon, the X will be later in the year.

How about waiting until then before making assertions?

If you didn't read comments on sites, boards or on YouTube, when people are saying something about the crease on the Mate X as some argument that the Fold is better, because they thought the screen of the fold was resistant of that, well that's on you. I can say I did. It's not that hard to open YouTube and see it for yourself. Also with common sense you don't need to guess when it comes to durability on some aspects. It's just logical thinking. When a product has an gap it collects dust easier than a product which doesn't. Also plastic scratches much easier than glass or harder materials.

If you don't want to read opinions of others, how about not commenting?

But...you are missing his point entirely or just ignoring it.
It is like you are here complaining about things that were said on other sites by other people.
Then...if you have issues with what so called "Samsung fanboys" (your words) on other sites....go tell them about it...we don't really care. No one here said it would be crease free.......

No one in this thread said any of these things.....

No you are missing the point. This is an Samsung Galaxy Fold topic, the video is about the Samsung Galaxy Fold, and the discussion is about the Samsung galaxy Fold. So instead of whining about it, you should stop complaining, if you accuse others of it.

Just so you all know, that Galaxy Fold video that leaked... the Fold in that video is a AT&T test device. They use it to make sure that they apps work and their software is fine. They have a specific list of apps they can and can’t install. Everything is logged.

That device was most likely used for months at Samsung HQ to test out software and hardware, they don’t need a perfect display, they need perfect internals. The internals of that device will be what launches retail, not the display. Software will be the same.

How do I know this? I have talked to someone who did these tests with other phones. That dude that had it goes around and tests the cellular at specific towers. He took it out of the security cover for video. He left the ID on the back and has most likely been fired.

Moral of the story, that crease probably won’t be that bad. That device is old and has been used for testing for a long time.
