Ordered a Note10+ for fun as I am re-arranging my toys

Giving my Youngest the Surface Book 2 and to my Eldest wife in law the Surface Pro 4 as she has gone back to Uni

Need to replace the Mrs Macbook 2015 and the new Samsung Book S looks a great replacement for her and will swap out her S8 with my S10+

Which leaves me free for more goodies when MS do their upgrade in October, only curve ball will be if the Fold gets released :) but I will have an old S8 for trade-in

One of the carriers in the UK are doing the 512 GB version of the s10+ for the price of the 128GB and the trade in value of my phone is £600. So only £300. I can live without the S-pen. There aren’t enough incentives on the note 10+ to justify the extra cost over the S10+.

I do prefer how an iPhone handles panning across a scene. Every Android I own makes a jerky mess of it.

But my Samsung phones going all the way back to the S7 and S7 Edge were fabulous for stereo audio. If this zoom audio feature doesn’t make a complete mess of sound and works like it’s supposed to, I will be in smartphone heaven. And I will weep over all the videos I shot of my babies without it.

I have struggled for years with audio on iPhones. It was such a revelation to hear such rich sound on my S7. The best I could get for an iPhone was via an external plug in stereo mic. That one focused sound pretty nicely but I had to carry it separately.

My experience with the S10 was that the cameras came in well behind the Pixel and iPhone.

Pretty much from a point and shoot perspective. I have 2 kids and was constantly frustrated by the results. The wide angle cane in handy maybe once.

The Pixel of course was the best with the iPhone not far behind.

If Samsung would dedicate resources to image processing, that would be huge.

If you take multiple shots can you get a good shot? I’m a multiple shot kind of person even with my iPhone. I take at least 10 shots of the same things and then see which ones are any good :oops:

I don’t mind taking lots of shots to get a good one. My kids won’t stay still anyway so I have to take lots of shots to get good ones.

I know they’ve fixed the portrait mode issue I had with the s10+ at launch (not being able to use the telephoto lens).

Oh of course. I’m talking more about the take one shot and move on. In that regard, the Pixel is unmatched.

I've seen a few posts now talking about the included headphones being noise cancelling, but don't see a reference to that on the Samsung site. Any sources for this?
 
Got my pre-order in a few minutes ago. It says it ships by 8/21...usually we get orders from Samsung about 4-5 days sooner than the expected ship date....fingers crossed!
Total cost was $528 after discounts and some leftover Samsung rewards points. Not too bad!

I think it does. I'm extremely, to the point of getting seizures, sensitive to pwm on the OLED iPhones. I'm able to use the S10+ display. I did have to adjust to it though. I was never able to adjust to the iPhone display. I would have ended up in the hospital had I kept trying. I hope I'll do fine on the Note 10+ . If I don't, I hope my husband enjoys his new Note!

Are you going to use unlocked on AT&T? If so, what are you giving up?

Oh you’re on Verizon now! I had thought you were on AT&T. Samsung was so deceptive. When some of us checked the trade in values of our phones during a portion of the reservation period we saw we could get $600 back on our trade ins for carrier branded S10+ phones. Now it’s down to $450. Which sucks. I thought about getting an unlocked phone but AT&T seriously gimps them. And my last experience with an unlocked Samsung was not a happy one in terms of getting updates.

If I am going to hang onto this phone for a full year I want to be comfortable on it.

I almost got that portable battery charger you got. My husband talked me out of it because we charge our phones off our cars when the power is out. And we don’t go camping or do anything where we would really need it. I was so tempted though.

Instead, I got a lot of cases. I really wish the dongle and the 45 watt charger had been available, too. Some people got coupons for their unspent credits. I did not. Ordering from Samsung is always an interesting experience.
