welp, I pulled the trigger on the White regular Note 10. I've always loved the Note series but don't use them for that long due to the size. I liked that the Note 10 is pretty much the same size as my current daily driver, the Pixel 3a.

So I got the Note 10 for $378.86 with the $600 trade in of a Pixel 3. Plus I'll sell the free Galaxy Buds as well to help with the $$.

I just can't believe the regular Note 10 is the same size as the Pixel 3a. Crazy!

we could get $600 back on our trade ins for carrier branded S10+ phones. Now it’s down to $450.

When i visited Samsung store they told me you get $200 automatically just for trading your phone PLUS the 400 actual value of your phone = $600
[doublepost=1565274062][/doublepost]So i suggest you visit or call the store

is that a physical samsung store? we don't really have those in the USA so our only option is the trade in values listed on Samsung's website. It's $600 max if you buy the unlocked variant or $450 max if you buy the carrier branded version.

I'm interested in the Note 10 solely for its Dex capabilities. I've tried using my S8's Dex at work with the little dock and it works well since our inventory management system is HTML based although working with various e-commerce websites has been less than stellar on Dex.
Were the OS requirements announced for the new Dex? I'm running Sierra at home for legacy software and my computer at work is still on Windows 7.

gotcha. yeah, It'd be nice if we had physical stores in the US. Especially for warranty work and returns. Everything here with Samsung has to be done online and their support, unfortunately, is pretty bad.
Really, I'm sure when I lived in US if I had a problem I went to the store I bought it from

Your sure this is not just a habit encouraged by Apple where many find it easier to go to an Apple store if one is nearby

I thought it's the same as UK where you sale of goods rights is the company who sold you, then credit card company (if used) and finally OEM

I'm not saying its radically different as if you take it back to Sears or Bestbuys or someone they may simply return it to the OEM for you, but it can be less stressful in some circumstances.

If you use stores like John Lewis in UK where you get extra extended warranty for free then going direct to OEM will likely get you no where. I suspect its the same in AUS with Harvey Norman etc

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade but what about this phone is exciting?

It's probably the best phone you can buy, has top of the line specs, and everything you would need other than maybe a headphone jack...but I just don't see anything that's new or exciting. Maybe that's just the state of phones right now. Nothinf really new right now and honestly not much separating flagship from mid tier offerings.

Agree completely and lacking the amazing screen technology you get on a OP7 now i don't see anything at all that is enticing in the Android segment. Also not a fan of that ugly dot right in the middle of the display.

Hard pass and now we wait for the Pixel 4.

Where did you live in the USA that had actual Samsung stores? Yes, Best Buy has mini shops but I wouldn't call them Samsung stores as they have different deals / pre-order system than Samsung itself.

I've received samsung support on defective devices sold on samsung.com before, but the problem is, you have to deal with phone support... wait on hold for an hour to get to talk to someone, get transferred to the "right department", etc. and wait on them to ship something to you. Just a pain compared to walking into an apple store and getting help right away. I had a Xs giving me bluetooth issues, took it to the Apple store in my town, and walked out with a warranty replacement that day... easy peasy.

EDIT: it looks like 3 stores have come to the US :)

Yes, Samsung store just like apple store. We have 3 major stores plus other small ones here in Melbourne.
Lucky!

Hmm, interesting. Just for kicks I went to make a second order for a blue unlocked Note 10+ since I have two reservations in their system and had only used one. This time around the two folio style cases were not available in blue. I exited without completing the order. I was just curious.

I don’t know what color I like best. I guess the rainbow one will let me have all of them. :p

Despite all of the free cases I got I’m also going to order a Ringke clear case so I can “taste the rainbow” when I want to. However I am glad I got a lot of blue cases because I am pretty sure the iridescence will begin to annoy me at some point.

Pure white probably would have been the safest color choice for me, since it’s a color I never seem to get tired of, but I already have my Pixel which I see all day long, every day even though I don’t have a sim in it. I know I won’t be happy if I don’t satisfy my curiosity about the weird iridescent phone. Also I did like my silver S7Edge...when it wasn’t blinding me in the sunlight with its massive silver bezels.

I’m rambling. Coffee wearing off. I slept poorly from all the excitement. My husband says it’s tradition. He never expects me to be coherent the day after a major phone launch.

It’s a little tiny dot up compared to all the notches on my other phones. ??????

I agree with you. One reason I will never buy another Samsung device is the lack of physical assistance when needed. Well that and their UI is meh compared to some others.

I love the flexibility when on an Apple device to go to a store for immediate assistance

Not a fan of the notches either but a lot of phones have already released with notchless designs and beautiful full screens.
They throw an ugly dot right in the middle of your viewing experience??? Big step back in terms of design imo.

Do you have physical assistance for the Pixel or the OPO 7? :D
The dot be become invisible after a few days of using the phone....just like the notch on other phones.
But I do agree with you on Apple and their stores. I also think they have the best customer service in the business.

I agree the dot will blend in like the notches do but in the time of more then 3 or 4 phones coming out full screen, notchless and dotless, a beautiful Samsung screen marred by that dot smack dab in the middle of the screen is...wooof!

I would prefer even the S10/S10+ version

Hm, if I samsung made it so easy to buy with buyback and free stuff, that would make me to try android at last, pitty that central europe aint important for sammy (nor for apple, to be fair;))

I think we have our wires slightly crossed :)

The point I was trying make is if you dislike Samsung direct service because you bought from them then choose a local retailer where you can walk in and get service etc :)

I know deals can be slightly different EG : S10+ at Samsung is $500 plus $150 voucher to spend where Bestbuy is a straight $400 both assuming a $600 trade in, so depends if you think its worth the vouchers over the saving and convenience etc. Not that I am suggesting or recommending Bestbuy :D

For many in the world there are no local Apple stores so experiences often found in US/UK/AUS do not translate unfortunately.

Dealing direct with OEMs is a rarity for most and choosing a local store equally can have advantages

I think with Best Buy they require you to do an activation. I'm not sure if that means I'd have to go outside of my existing plan and open a new line. I need to check on that.

I think it does :)

Yes the US plans and legacy plans seem a nightmare at times, especially to us outsiders :)

But I have always been lucky living most of the time in countries where unlocked phones is the norm and the 2 I bought in the US I just paid $10 and got an unlock code :D

However in Malaysia they are local sim locked for the first 5 mins of use then become international unlocked

I’ve got the notchiest phone in the world in my 3XL and I thought it would really bother me but it didn’t. I’m kind of fond of the Samsung environment so it is the path of least resistance for me to keep on this upgrade path vs going to one of the other Androids...except for Pixel 4. Lol, I’m on that upgrade path, too. I’m not sure the Pixel 4 is what I’m looking for, yet. It will be fun seeing how that phone fares in reviews. It’s the one phone I won’t pre order. I am sad they won’t have the finger print sensor on the back. The Pixel FPS is absolutely the best I have ever used. Beats even the one on iPhones.

Got my pre-order in a few minutes ago. It says it ships by 8/21...usually we get orders from Samsung about 4-5 days sooner than the expected ship date....fingers crossed!
Total cost was $528 after discounts and some leftover Samsung rewards points. Not too bad!

Pulled the trigger also, $600 for the Pixel 3 XL was too hard to pass up. Though will likely get the Pixel 4 as well, no matter how hard I try to convince myself not to.

Even if we both end up getting the Pixel 4 in Oct...we still come out on top. The P3 prices are going to drop as we get closer to P4 release date. I can sell the Note 10+ if I don't like it and it will pay for the P4 if I go that route.
It really is a win win scenario :)
