Considering the XS Max has a slight edge in certain shots vs Note 10, IMO, means the new iPhone is going to blow away Samsung. I guess we will see in about a month. I may be switching back when the new iPhone "Pro" is released. We shall see.

Agreed. I am interested to see what happens with this camera module and its ability.

May play with a Note+ in 3-6 months when they are $500 due to the terrible value proposition of Samsung devices lol.

Guys what's the best way to back up my s9+ contents including sms pics notes...everything and then restore them on my Note 10+ ?

Thanks in advance
If you're getting the retail version, there should be a usb OTG adapter in the box and you'll connect your s9+ to that. It'll copy everything from your old phone.

Ha! I’m in the same boat. I’m actually really impressed by what I’ve seen by the Note 10+, to the point where I actually want it, but I’m also at the point where I’m sick of switching back and forth, so I think what I’m going to do is wait for all the fall keynotes, follow the reviews, read the forums, and the make an informed decision.

Exactly right.

Too many big boys coming out this fall that will squash the Note in terms of features and performance as I feel the Note is already behind some phones out even now.

Samsung are such cheap phones to grab on discount no reason to ever pay full price for one.

Yeah, camera has become one of, if not the most important feature for me. And the S10+ was definitely inconsistent. Pixel was the best of course. What’s strange is that my XR actually is a better point and shoot camera than the XS donut goes to show that software makes such a huge difference.

After watching some reviews, I've decided the Note 10 + is one of the few phones I'll consider around Black Friday time when I get a new phone. So I'm looking forward to see how the day 1 adopters like the phone.

I think for the first time in a while I'm ready to stop bouncing from phone to phone and just stick with one device for a while. The current wave of technology on smart phones has reached a saturation point and until the next big breakthrough comes along, I'm fine staying with one phone. The improvements in flagships now from year to year is becoming really minimal.

For me, unless Oneplus 7 pro bring out a T model, it'll be between Note 10 plus, Pixel 4, and iPhone 11 Pro. Most likely the Pixel but if battery life is poor I might rethink it. Most likely not the Note because I'll want timely updates if I'm keeping it for multiple years but the hardware could sway me. I wasn't considering an iPhone until just recently. If in keeping it for multiple years, iPhone has to be considered because it will hold its value so well over that time. Should be an interesting next couple of months.

Yes! Exactly man. I’m literally starting to think Black Friday as well. See what deals are out there. I’m most likely sticking with iPhone just because of the customer support but the Note 10 does look killer and the S-Pen would be a really good addition because I use the phone for work and the note taking would come in handy as well as signing PDF’s.

I'm hoping I can manage to do the same and not buy a new phone yet. With the last few phones I've had, the S10+ was easily the best overall experience for me. Which is why I've been tempted by the Note.

But the camera is probably the most important to me, which is why I know I'd regret not waiting for at least the Pixel keynote. And by then I should know what the Mate 30 Pro will bring. The extra cost of the iPhone and annoyance of iOS will rule almost certainly rule that out.

I'm skipping the iPhone 11 or whatever number it is going to be. My Xs Max is doing just fine.
But I can't wait to get my hands on the Note 10+ and then see if the Pixel 4 XL will tempt me away from it.
I just want to have 2 phones to switch back and forth too. my iPhone and an Android phone.

No pre order gifts has made it easier for me. No need to rush and buy one just yet. As much as I like getting phones on release day, I'm being more sensible for once. Not that people aren't sensible for buying them ASAP but I'm sure you know what I mean!

I would hope I would be able to use the new iPhone pro. Sadly I don't expect to be able to. I'd just keep my Xr but I want the second lens and a better battery since mine was a bit poor from the beginning. So I'll trade for the 11r and add at least a second lens.

***Edit: whoa  IF this rumor is true I may be able to use the iPhone 11 Pro. https://bgr.com/2019/08/16/iphone-11-release-specs-oled-display-camera/amp/

If that happens I’ll have an opportunity to pit two titans against each other. Thud. I shall faint. Of course it’s just a rumor and second hand from BGR no less. So I have to take it with a grain of salt. ****Edit2: I’ve since found other articles that confirm the rumor but they all have the same single original source.

For me the Note will be like having a desktop pc in my pocket. It is not just that it is a beast, but is designed for professional work flows. I don't have a professional work flow, but it means a little peanut like me has some more options now.

I think the videos I'm getting out of my S10+ are some of the best I've ever gotten. Especially factoring in the excellent audio recording capability.

I found a really cool niche case that is making me chomp at the bit to get the zoom audio. I was recording an interview in a very noisy restaurant (for a family history project) and I was struggling trying to get the sound separation I needed between my subject and myself from where I was seated across the table. I was using my Xr as my s10+ tends to pick up too much sound from all around. This is not the first nor will it be the last time I'm in that situation so the ability to hone in on a particular sound source is so exciting to me.

Right now, so far at least, Apple and Google haven't focused on audio recording all that much. Only LG and Samsung and HTC have, among the companies who make top quality phones available in my country.

Apple still wins top spot for me. Samsung is a close second but Google can take that spot if they start delivering on hardware specs and features and quality to the level Samsung does. And Huawei.

The $499 headphone gift and old phone trade in was a encouraging for many in Australia.

At some point I have to wonder how much better does a phone camera have to be? How critical is a person supposed to be over the quality of their selfies?

I personally use my iPhone XS for work. The photo quality I’m getting now is way more than I really need. How much more is really needed for most people?

Smartphone cameras still have a long ways to go.

Don't cheap out on cameras now. Remember that in 10-15 years you will be looking at these photos on wall sized 12k screens. Anything less then top notch is going to look like crap.

The headphones would have almost certainly swayed me! Including the trade in bonus, the most Samsung offer for a non Samsung Android phone is £150. Which is insulting.

150 wow i can't blame you. The funny thing is i was in a market for a good headphone so happy with the overall Note 10 bonus deal.

Plenty of people said the same 5 years ago. Look how much things have improved. Might not always be a night & day difference over a particular model iteration but they are always improving with quality and features.

And paying £1k for phones is rarely about need, it's about want.

I agree but if you look at what’s available now, is there really that much difference between phone cameras, that we need to be so critical? Any phone can take decent photos these days, and I look forward to better technology and better phones in the future, but all this nit picking over which one is currently better is pretty ridiculous. They are all pretty good. I’m not saying let’s stop wanting better cameras, I am saying let’s use what’s available now. What’s available now from various brands is pretty impressive. Why do we have to keep measuring appendages over the issue?

Low light still needs to improve, and video needs improvement. When we can record 8k 60fps in very low light then we will plateau.

I have the iPhone XS, but I have been impressed with the iPhone cameras since the iPhone 6. Things will continue to improve but why all the comparisons?

Ha. And how many people own an 8k tv or computer monitor that can play it back in 8k?

Different people want different things from phones. So comparisons are needed so we can choose which one to get. If purely going off a camera, some might choose a Huawei for the zoom & night mode. If you prefer video, some will go for iPhone or S10/Note 10.

For me personally, I prefer the way Google makes their pictures look, so favour the Pixel.

I know. Samsung have always been stingy with the preorder gifts in the UK. Yep I can get more for my Xs max at carphone warehouse than using Samsung’s trade in deal.

The Xs max/Xs is the first iPhone that’s had an above average camera for me.

In terms of cameras on smart phones out of the ones I’ve owned the ones that have stood out for me at the time of ownership are the galaxy S5, galaxy S7 edge and the Xs max. The rest have all been average.

This is a defeatist attitude. Progress is made incrementally. If it wasn't for tech enthusiasts like us constantly demanding the best camera possible, we wouldn't be where we are today. If we settle for less, then we won't get to where we are going tomorrow.

Cell phone photos look okay now on phones, but when viewed critically on large monitors vs, even a pocketable camera such as the RX100, they are still lacking in many metrics such as dynamic range.

Also there is still a large disparity in photos out of the top tier flagships, and other phones. That gap is closing, but it still very much exists.

There is never a point when cellphone cameras are "good enough", until they surpass medium format DSLRs
