I'm excited that the Note 9 will do the in-display fingerprint sensor first. I'm glad (and hoping still) Samsung isn't rushing this feature.

Also, this will pave the way for improvements in the S10 if need be.

First image supposedly leaked by reliable source http://bgr.com/2018/05/10/galaxy-note-9-release-date-coming-image-leak/

No big design changes from last year but I guess that wasn't expected. If the image is real then they're not doing a big number about the in-screen fp reader on a pic like this, which I imagine they would if they had such a huge addition coming up. I'm guessing even if they had it ready, they'd save it for the S series since it's much more of a mainstreamer.

Just read that the same source of that leak has confirmed no under screen fingerprint reader either. :(

Bleh, it's so tall and narrow it looks comical. I know I'm in the minority, I just don't see what such a tall phone brings. I still have to shimmy up and down with it so it's not really easier to use one handed. Samsung got their mini view right where you can shrink the screen down when needed, that was enough for me. Although I don't like it, the narrow aspect ratio is ok for the S series. But the Note series has always been about stuffing a "computer" into your pocket, one handed use be damned. It's a shame because with the curved edges it makes it even narrower functionally.

It doesn't look good for an under display FPS on the Note 9 :-(
Just seems to me this tech is going to be very hard to master now and going forward. The amount it will cost supply wise I personally think will be too much.

It's why i think face ID tech is what we will see more than under the display FP scanner.

I am not sure about the cost to be honest. But I think it has other things to be worked out. Like screen protectors and accuracy over time and changes to our FP like dry weather or moisture.

With each passing rumor on the Note 9, it seems the first Samsung with an under display fingerprint reader will most likely be the S10. I always expected the S10/Note 10 to be the target for this feature. But who knows, we could always be delightfully surprised to see it on the Note 9.

Oh yes! Thank goodness, there is no stupid notch to ruin that gorgeous Infinity Display :D

Glad to see its refining the Note8 design which in itself was fantastic, I love how I can use my Note8 one handed even with a case on it.

I am guessing the back of this phone look exactly like the S9+, which I'd be very happy with.

If the battery is bigger I may jump on to it. :)

It has a notch, they just extended it all the way to the sides. ;)

I'm interested in the Note 9, but I've only owned Galaxy smartphones. What is the key difference? (aside from the S Pen)

I hope they dont.. cause then you won't be able to have a screen protector. There is no way in hell that a fingerprint sensor will be able to read through multiple layers of glass.

Typically larger, and typically has more features that the next Galaxy S phone will have (except the Note 8, that phone is just bad).

Yea the Note 8 kinda turned me off because it's the exact same phone as my GF's S8. I couldn't justify dropping $100-$150 more for a phone with a stylus and .1 inch bigger display.

What new features are the Note 9 rumored to have over the S9+?

First, latest leaks appear to confirm that Note 9 won’t have fingerprint sensor under the front display.

As far as being able to read through both the display and a glass screen protector, go watch MKBHD’s video from earlier today where he tests that very thing on the new Vivo model with an in screen FPS. The only thing that caused it to fail was wet or dirty fingers, same as on the iPhone. Even a privacy screen protector didn’t keep the in screen FPS from working.

I saw the same MBKHD video. Quite impressive to be honest. I thought a screen protector would not work but the Vivo phone actually came with one pre installed.

I use both, don't show off to my friends (they're not that simple that they'd be impressed by a mobile).
I can't imagine what extra you expect from a "Note".
Best phone I've owned.
The Galaxy Note 4 was the LAST true Note phone. It had the IR Blaster, replaceable battery, a real home button, same screen resolution as the note 8, same fast charging as the Note 8, better camera,
