TBH, 99.9% of people who buy the phone probably a) wouldn't know what was in their phone and b) wouldn't know what a snapdragon was if you slapped them around the face with one.

In the real world it's really a non-issue. I have the UK varient of the S20+ and get 2-3 day's worth of battery life on average, never see/feel any stutter and don't notice any significant heat.
Totally agree. I don't think the average consumer knows or cares what SoC comes in their phones.
Then to the average consumer they will not notice and speed difference or battery life difference between the 2 models.
The differences are just not that noticeable.
Same thing goes for benchmarks.....they are nice little bragging points. But in the end the average consumer will not care or notice any difference in their everyday use.

The only people who care about this stuff is people like us in forums like this. Then we only make up (guessing here) 01% of the buying public.

I don't think that's the overall point. For example if they both cost the same, one is getting a better processor than the other, and a possible effect on battery life. Why not just put one chip in all the different phones, that's what Apple does.

First, I think they have to use the Snapdragon chips in the US due to some modem compatibilty or licensing requirements with Qualcomm (found this explanation is an article from a few years back).

“The company is using the two chips largely because they have different integrated modems. The Snapdragon…modem supports a wider range of bands and runs on older CDMA networks operated by companies like Verizon. The Exynos is tuned for GSM and LTE networks deployed in European and Asian countssssries.”

And in regards to Apple...they actually are just as guilty of this practice with their modems. For years, they were using a mix of Qualcomm and Intel modems, that later of which had noticeably worse performance.

Yep and we have had the Intel chips in the U.K. since the iPhone 7.

From this video Note20 doesn't look like a budget phone.

Why would you put 12GB ram on entry level phone Lol.

Because it's a cheap way to add value to the phone. RAM costs so little in the grand scheme of things. It's part of the reason people get so angry when Google keep shorting the Pixel line.

Don't forget its a 5G phone and the other specs are not bad at all. I am impressed i have a feeling this phone will kill it.

Dave you assume Samsung has a 100% say in this but there is an element of licencing with Qualcomm that plays a part

If you are that bothered get the US unlocked version

As for constancy in Apple land I noted to you previously millions of owners pay the Apple premium for support and convenience yet never receive it, should all of them get a cheaper phone or laptop etc because this service is not available to them.

This is a far greater ripoff by Apple than splitting hairs over chip sets

Even a recent poll requesting Samsung to be consistent with chip sets got 40k votes out of millions of owners/buyer

Most do not care or know outside of forums like this

You would have to get an imported US version. I believe Michael has an imported Note 10+.

yea I’m just not sure if that has issues because it’s not a U.K version. I will wait and see what Samsung announce in a few weeks time. It probably isn’t an issue, I’m an iPhone user at the moment and so not use to what Samsung do.

No issues whatsoever. Chinese dual SIM Note 10+ with the SD, 1 year seller warranty and loads cheaper than UK model. Paid £650 in November while the UK was £1k, aside from the odd £100 off promotion.

I can’t do that because I live in the U.K
Don't be daft I live in KL and shop internationally

My Razer Studio is from US, my Wife's Flip is from Singapore so is her LTE watch, my ring door bell is UK, my UMPC is from HK, her 12" Macbook is from Thailand and so on

Its even easier for you in UK as Amazon is not so restricted like here

Dave I really wish you would temper your Apple references every time. Your experience with them is only from a UK perspective which is almost the same as US but internationally Apple have many discrepancies and are not consistant throughout the world as you may think.

EG Its rumored the UAE are finally going to get facetime on their handsets which has always been blocked, even if you take it elsewhere, ie permanently disabled by Apple. I use to buy my kids grey US unlocked imports to get around this

Of the 20 or so Apple laptops I have bought I have never had a 14 day return promise, same for Iphones and Tablets other than 3 Ipad mini's I bought in Houston

Ok here are the rumours prices

Note 20 12/256: $999
Note 20 Ultra 12/256: $1299
Note 20 Ultra 16/512: $1349
Ouch! Maybe my husband will still go for one. I don’t know. I don’t have a pressing desire to trade from my S20 except my frustration with the fingerprint sensor, which I have come to loathe. But even that doesn’t constitute a pressing need to move on.

Suppose at least the price for the note ultra is lower than the S20 Ultra. Shame there is no 128gb option though for the chance to lower the price.

Price was going mad for the last 3 years i am glad customers sent a strong message to Samsung.
Its a new turning point i guess.

Ok if that screen is truly flat I might be interested again in the note line. I had to return the Note 10 I bought a couple of weeks ago because of the curved display. I thought I could get used to drawing on it but it’s a no go. The price of this scares me though.

I would of expected the Note 20 line up to have been more expensive than the S20, simply because the Note line is their flagship the top of the line specs.

Just be aware some of the specs are not heavy duty. Go through the specs before you decide. For me its good enough even just as a spare phone. It was very smart idea from Samsung , new direction and smart marketing strategy.

Guessing because of the backslash the pricing got. If it goes down in the note then it’s a good thing

Yea it’s definitely a good thing if it’s cheaper. I paid £1149 last year for my 11 Pro Max, that’s without any type of S-Pen. I just hope this Note 20 can match the iPhone for me, especially on battery life. My Pro Max has great battery life, even now after months of heavy use.

Battery life is what concerns me. That exynos is not great
