You must be new in the smartphone world then because there are a lot of phones which are symmetrical.
My apologies if I was not more specific as I thought given the thread it was obvious it was in context of an S10 current class of phone

If you wish to be pedantic and include every phone ever made at any price then I agree

There would have to be a bigger top bezel if it were to be symmetrical, and the trend of hating bezel will never see that. We must have minimal bezel because reasons.

Seems like I'll pass, curved screens again....
I can live with that on the S10. I would definitely pass it by on a Note 10, though. Well I would after hearing people complain about false touches and reduced writing surface.

Looks pretty and all but I'm just over Samsung. I got used to Pixels and One Plus and now have very little interest in Samsungs. I'm not 100% sure why but yeah, I'll be passing unless we learn about some new earth shattering feature.
I’d have to see it in action. I like Android on my S9+. It’s been fairly smooth and lots of fun and utilitarian.

It does feel good to be back on my Pixel 2, though. And I can’t even articulate why.

But it’s always risky when Samsung upgrades its user experience. On my S8+ it was a complete lag fest.

I retain a cautious optimism.

No you are pedantic especially when you are wrong on your own statement about “symmetric” phones.

The thing that annoys me of the Samsung Galaxy S10 are the asymmetric bezels. It would’ve looked much better if they where the same all around or at least the bottom and top bezels.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symmetry

This is an asymmetrical Samsung compared to a symmetric Samsung, depending on your prerequisites and which axis you use.

I think we're all pretty pedantic here :)

It probably will be, at least for long enough for Samsung to get some extra cash. That being said, a one month or two month exclusive will only be bad if your carrier of choice will have 5G in your area and isn’t Verizon.

Spoilers: Most people won’t be able to use 5G for years to come. We don’t even have 100% LTE penetration at this late in the game.

Verizon is the only carrier that I’ve heard of implementing 5G even remotely near me or my husband’s office.

Around the country, there have been some people protesting the rollout over cancer concerns. I do not have a clue about that, but some municipalities have even gotten in on the act of fighting the installations for aesthetics and health reasons and even just being at odds that larger government oversight is stepping on their local administrative powers. It’s going to be a matter of grabbing some popcorn and watching the drama unfold, depending on where you live.

I certainly hope there’s no real cause for concern over cancer. I live out in the country, land of Roundup and pesticide clouds, and wonder if that’s why the genetic bowel cancer that normally doesn’t manifest in my family until 70’s hit me at end of my 40’s.

I’m eager to enjoy the new technology but not at cost to my health. Jerry over at AC said it’s dangerous if they try to go with few emitters tuned up to blast longer distances but is safe with many emitters over short distances.

I’m not too worried if my phones don’t have 5G this year or next year. I’m not even sure I will be upgrading at all this year.

I want a new S10 because they might come out in aqua and be so beautiful. But my S9+ is such a fabulous Samsung it seems a crime to upgrade it. My Xr is prone to overheating. My Pixel 2 is a little too small. The S9+ is just about perfect. I wish the battery lasted a little longer but it does last long enough. At this point the camera is by my Xr’s and Pixel’s but not by enough to incite an upgrade. Lol, get back to me in February when my jaw has dropped and I’m drooling. Samsung never fails to get that reaction from me. They do know how to make a beautiful phone.

sounds like it's going to be a beast! probably pushing $2k here in the states (or at least $1500)

Galaxy S10 X (S ten ten ;) )

https://www.droid-life.com/2019/01/...ight-add-an-x-to-its-name-go-nuts-with-specs/
WOW...what a game changer it could be...

For specs, this report expects an in-display fingerprint reader, six cameras (quad camera on the back, dual upfront), up to 1TB storage, 10GB RAM, 6.7-inch AMOLED display, and a 5000mAh battery. There may be something included called “Life Pattern” too, that will use AI to try and automate functions of your smartphone.

Oh no, my husband just texted me this link https://www-t3-com.cdn.ampproject.o...-on-sale-march-8-and-heres-the-starting-price

$700-$800 starting price? That’s what it says in the article before they go on to give UK prices.

From the article for our UK friends:

“To give you an idea of UK prices, a straight currency conversion puts the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite at between £545 and £625 and the 5G Galaxy S10 at £1,245, although do bear in mind that UK prices rarely align quite so precisely with their US counterparts.”

Please tell me I read that wrong. I didn’t get my morning coffee until just a few minutes ago due to our snow day late departure for school. I have to be reading that cross eyed and crazy, right?

In summary the new S10 models will be between $700 and $1600 depending on what you choose. And people complain about Apple. :D

OH, and that doesn't include the foldable model which will probably be $2k+

Yikes. So much yikes. I would have loved to “go big or go home” on this purchase. But with taxes, ouch! Trading in my S9+ would hardly make a dent in the effort to bring the price down to earth.

That’s what I loved about my Xr and my husband’s Pixel 3XL purchases. We were able to use trade in and deals to bring the prices down to what we’ve traditionally paid for phones before Apple shot prices into the stratosphere. His 3XL was around $600. My Xr was around that amount or less. I don’t remember exact amounts but that was the ballpark we shoot for when we get new phones.

agree that phone prices are out of control.
But we can all agree when iphones are released with the same specs...they will be just as expensive or more....
Can you imagine how much a folding iPhone will be?

We need to be a little careful as their pricing was just speculating on previous increases and of course all UK prices include 20% VAT so it could be $1335 opposed to $1600 on top model in US, but $1600 grabs more clicks :)

I saw a rumor the S10 Lite might be the only one that offers a phone in yellow. If I go for an S10, and with the new 855 chip already tested and showing significant gains over the 845, the Lite might be the one to get. I'd have a yellow Samsung and a yellow XR. If they make the Lite flat that would be added incentive to choose it . Lol it's fun to plan imaginary purchases based on rumors :p In the end I may end up with a OnePlus.

Gotta say...I like this phone.....The hole looks sooo much better than a notch to me.....look at all that room for notifications! I really hope Samsung steps up the camera though. I think they are falling behind in the space.
I really have enjoyed my S9+ camera in pro mode. But yes I do think they need to do something to reduce blurry indoor photos of people moving normally.

This leaked photo sure does show promise. I can’t wait for the debut event. The likely high prices will force me to just press my nose to the window but hey, there is much fun in that, too! :D

I wonder if Samsung is going to continue their trend of updating their unlocked phones last. I’m not bitterly waiting for Pie on my Note 9, why do you ask?

Oh jeez are they still lagging behind updating the unlocked phones? That happened to on my S7 and it was infuriating. I gave up and that phone is still on um...Nougat I think. Whatever it had when it was released.

(My midlife memory is horrible these days. My mom just started showing unmistakable signs of Alzheimer’s or dementia to go along with her being hard of hearing, and the two of us trying to have a conversation, well we can start out talking about golf and end up talking about goats in the same conversation because that’s just the way it rolls.)

Anyway... I’m really appalled to hear this. I thought Samsung swore on their founder’s honor or something that they would be better about keeping the unlocked phones updated. Sigh.

AT&T phones are pretty close to the bottom of the update pile, too. But it’s better than it was.
