It has the same ppi as the iPhone 4. The resolution is higher than the iPhone 4. However the resolution of the XR is too low for me.
Maybe that’s why the battery life appears to be so good on it.

I. Think S10e can be an XR killer in terms of the price and features in comparison. That said if people like iPhones better it won’t matter but the price here seems very reasonable.

Yeah LOL what's going on there... It looks like the music player including the pause button are correctly centered, which means the FPS graphic actually isn't??

Most people are right handed, so maybe they pushed it a bit to the right?

Either way, that does look pretty funny/bad.

XR has the same resolution as iPhone4, seriously what is apple doing?!? Bit out of touch so I will send Tim Cook s10+ for his Brthday lol

C'mon let's not be obtuse here. The screen on the XR is way better than the iPhone 4. It has the same PPI, not resolution. It has WAY more pixels than the iPhone 4 (960x640 on the 4 vs 1792x828 on the XR). That's over 2x the pixels by the way (614K on the 4 vs 1.5M on the XR).

I want an S10e for the smaller size (I currently have an XS Max and would love to be reminded of what a small device with a UI based on one-handed usability would be like). However, I’m naturally drawn to the largest screen and the S10+ was the most impressive to me the first time I saw the devices in Best Buy.

In reality, I’m probably not going to buy either. I had a go with Samsung last year with the S9+ and I still prefer iOS. But in a dream situation, I’d like to have the XS Max, S10e, and the S10+.

Not even HD and in 2019? Thats too low.

Does anyone know if you can hide the top status bar while in apps?
On the S8+ there was a setting that allowed it to be hidden and then you could swipe down from the top of the screen to show it when you wanted to view it.
Thanks!

I keep missing out on twitter notifications until I open the app. I've set the power mode to high performance & switched off adaptive power saving. Can't see what else I can change & never had this on previous Android phones. Any ideas?

have you tried settings -> apps -> twitter -> battery -> turn on "allow background activity" and turn off "optimize battery usage"?

I had the same issue with all apps not coming through straight away which is why I downloaded android doze app...and it has fixed the issue for me.

I am using my S10 caseless at the moment, and am really enjoying it, but don't think that is a good idea long term.

I have no case on my XR, but something about that feels much sturdier.

Anyone got an official silicone / leather case? How is it?

What is the app exactly? There's quite a lot when I type that in.
Give it a try

Two things:

1) I wonder why the S10 has problems with doze and the pixel doesn’t. All of my notifications come in within a half second or so of my XS Max.

2) what on earth were they thinking placing the fingerprint sensor off center?

1) I actually haven't missed any notifications on my S10+. Seems to be the same as my P3XL with the added bonus of apps staying in memory longer ;) But I wonder if it's an exynos vs snapdragon thing or just a few one off cases?

You have the snapdragon I’m going to guess? I’ll go play with the S10 in store today. The demo model I saw of the S10+ and e didn’t allow you to mess with the FPS. In fact, it wasn’t even in settings at all in retail mode. Thought that was strange.

An app to disable doze is what drives me crazy about android. We get this functionality to save on battery, then it hurts something else, so we need an app to disable it!
I see the pros and cons to it as if you get a huge amount of notifications it stops you getting bugged every two secs

You still get through calls and texts on time just certain apps you don't get straight away

Just wish they allowed you to turn it on and off

yep, snapdragon.

for the fp sensor, it works ok for me. not great but not bad either. But I do always have a smart watch on, so I use Google's Smart Lock so I rarely have to use the fp sensor. I did register my thumbs multiple times. I did read that if you register the thumb starting at the knuckle and work down towards the tip, it does a better job. So i did that with both thumbs 2 times and it seems to work better than before. maybe 80% success rate? not as good as traditional fp sensors or even FaceId (that was like 99.9% success rate for me) but it's not a deal breaker in my case. But I also don't use it that much so maybe that's why

I also haven't noticed any delays?
Was out with my sister earlier having coffee and she has an iPhone and we were texting my other sister in our group chat.
both of our messages were pinging through exactly the same time.

I also have my XR here and all Insta notifications are also coming through virtually exactly the same time too on both.

Would drive me insane if they weren't!

S10 and s10+ owners just a little favour ....
What's the maximum resolution you can watch this video? on my s9+ i can watch it on 2160s and can move around on the screen.....you have to watch it on youtube app not on the forum.

Yep. I agree with this. Let’s be factual at least. The XR was dead on arrival for me because of that low resolution screen but it didn’t have the same resolution as the iPhone 4.
