There’s a thread on XDA and on Reddit showing how to install the Pixel camera APK. There’s a particular config file that must be used, but when done correctly, you can use the wide angle lens as well as the regular lens. I’ve tested all different modes (portrait, portrait selfies, night sight, etc) and they all work for me on my s10 855. I’m thrilled with this as the portrait mode on the S10 isn’t bad, but doesn’t compare to the Pixel line’s. Selfie portraits (for those into that) also look WAY cleaner and sharper on the Pixel camera app than the native S10 app, which seems to always add a skin smoothing even when you turn it all the way down.

Oh, and someone asked about the OEM silicone case. I’ve got one and i like it. Pretty minimal, but does have raised edges on top and bottom to keep the screen from touching a surface if laid face down.

Quite literally the ONLY thing that made me miss the Pixel 3XL was the camera. And now that I’ve got it on the S10 I think I may have found Android utopia!

Restricted to 1080? What do you mean? That video is a VR 360 ultra Hd video
[doublepost=1552493282][/doublepost]

Any reason why?
This video I can see in up to 2160s but usually I’m capped at 1080p for YouTube videos on my Xs max.

Can you post some of the pics you’ve taken with night mode and the portrait pics (not selfie) that you’ve taken with the pixel camera?

Android isn’t for me, there’s too many things that annoy the crap out of me. The phone is amazing, I give Samsung mad props for releasing such beautiful hardware but I can’t give up all the benefits I have with Apple just for some increased customization options.

I also thought about getting a Galaxy watch to try but after checking one out at Best Buy again, I can safely the  watch is miles better. The software is not good, the watch faces are terrible (yes I’m aware of the thousands of options) having a thousand options is not a good argument if only 10 out of those thousand choices is actually good and I didn’t like the included strap (again compared to ’s band selection) it’s definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

Also don’t want to give up my workflow, continuity, airdrop and handoff features. IMO no other OEM even comes close.

But I’m happy that others are enjoying their phones and Galaxy watches.

I must agree, some features, hand-off being one of them, does work brilliantly with Apple/iOS...

Do they have many samsung stores round the country? I know we have one here
The closest one to me is almost 2 hours away (Oxford street). It’s not that good it’s just a Carphone Warehouse store they turned into a Samsung store.

The old flagship store in Stratford Westfield was so good. It was better than any Apple store I’ve ever been too. Imagine two floors full of Samsung products. They had a genius style bar. You could queue up and get your device looked at on the day. They would try and fix it then and if not send it away. My husband’s charging port on his S3 wasn’t working and it only took them 2 days to fix it.

They did express screen repairs if you’ve smashed your screen. You could pay and have it fixed in 1 hour.

Not decided on switching but there are a lot more advantages other than customisation, like the wide angle camera, reverse wireless charging, Dex support, support for VR, split screen apps.

You can use any watch band with the galaxy watches, those from normal watches.

However I do agree about loosing out on the integration between devices. That’s what’s holding me back.

I have the s9 plus and am thinking of keeping that and getting rid of the s10. Nice upgrade except for the fingerprint scanner. Bugs the hell out of me. Very annoyoying where you have to hit it perfectly for it to respond. The only thing making me think twice about keeping the s10 is the 550 trade in I will get for the s9 plus.

Does the active have a speaker/microphone. I think I saw in one review that it didn’t? Does that mean you can’t take calls on it?

I think the fps will only get better with updates and usage. It already works very well for me. Also tap to wake is your friend when using an in display fps.

I did the same thing and loaded the config mentioned at the link below (it seemed to apply just fine), but I don't see how to do the wide angle mode in Gcam. Where is that setting?

https://www.xda-developers.com/take...samsung-galaxy-s10-with-a-google-camera-port/

EDIT: I'm excited to test out night sight with the S10+ and Gcam as that was a great feature coming from my P3XL

EDIT2: I figured out how to go wide angle in Gcam. have to cycle through front facing mode to get to it.

Oh I’m aware but those are draws for me but it’s irrelevant because of the software and plus many of those things will be coming to the iPhone.

I know any watch band will work but still I googled watch band replacements and I looked at quite a few and all of them too me were hot garbage compared to my  watch bands.

This band is one of my favorite watch bands ever! There’s nothing IMO that comes close to this that you can use on the Galaxy watches.

No speaker but it has a mic. You can initiate or accept calls but they switch over to the phone. What happens is a call comes in and a scrolling marquee at the top of the display tells you to answer the call on your phone. In fact unless you have your phone silenced the phone will still ring. You can decline the call from the watch, though. But you can't answer it from the watch. You can dial a call on the watch and it's easy to do. But then you have to pick up your phone to actually talk. So...what's the point?

The Mic is for dictating texts. Typing texts would be a nightmare from what I can see of the keyboard as it's a standard phone keyboard. The mic works well though. It's a Bixby feature but works fine despite me being connected to a Pixel.

It's more of a fitness band in smart watch form than a true replacement for an Apple Watch.

It so far does a lot of what Fitbit did for me. I appreciate the notifications. The Bluetooth range is impressive to me. I lose connection if my phone is upstairs and I go to the basement and walk outside. I'm not sure how many feet that is but it's a big house...so.

This device can probably free me from my Apple Watch/iPhone dependency. But I will need more than one day to figure this out. It is sporty looking. It is not elegant, but it's got a clean modern look. I think Samsung will likely release an update to their more elegant watches eventually.

The galaxy watch uses a standard watch band, there are literally thousands of watch bands that are better then the ones available for the Apple watch.

Oh that’s not good. I don’t use most of the features on my Apple Watch but being able to answer calls if my phone is out of reach is one of them. If this just the active? Can you make and answer calls on the other galaxy watches (speak through the watch).

Also is there Bixby/Google assistant on the watch and can you get a spoken response to queries and commands?
[doublepost=1552497860][/doublepost]
I’ll snap a few this evening and post them if interest is still there.
Thank you.

You can answer calls on. The galaxy watch and yes bixby works on the galaxy watch

No Google assistant though

I loved my apple watch but don't miss it at all

Spotify app works great and I still get similar sport scores apps too

Are you aware of the scope of watch bands that you can buy? The Apple bands are nice but nothing special.

I looked at a large number of bands still doesn’t negate the fact that I could find really one band that I liked compared to what I already own.

Plus it’s a moot point for me as I don’t like the software on the Galaxy Watch.
