An app to disable doze is what drives me crazy about android. We get this functionality to save on battery, then it hurts something else, so we need an app to disable it!
I guess there’s always trade offs. On iOS you don’t have this problem but then you don’t get all the features and options you get on android. It’s always a trade off.

Yep. I agree with this. Let’s be factual at least. The XR was dead on arrival for me because of that low resolution screen but it didn’t have the same resolution as the iPhone 4.
It’s okay. I’ve adjusted to the point I don’t notice it unless I want to notice it for testing/comparison purposes.

But now the S10e is here and will wipe the floor with the Xr unless you absolutely positively have to have iOS in your life. And some people do. I may be one of them. I’m not sure yet. Though truth be told, if the XS Max weren’t trying to put me in the hospital with its OLED, I’d still have mine. That display was beautiful despite what it did to my nervous system. :p

I do like my Xr as a phone, oddly enough. After years of finding iPhones to be terrible as phones, I finally got a good one.

I’m might be one or them too. Still trying to work it out. I’m a prisoner of the Apple ecosystem:eek:

I almost the the doze issue someone is having here is isolated and not problematic on the S10 line. I haven't had any issues on my other Android devices that use Doze. It would be nice to have an option to turn it off though.

You have the snapdragon I’m going to guess? I’ll go play with the S10 in store today. The demo model I saw of the S10+ and e didn’t allow you to mess with the FPS. In fact, it wasn’t even in settings at all in retail mode. Thought that was strange.
Maybe they don’t want people to lock the phone and then not be able to get back into it. I went to have another look on Monday and it was the same thing at the 3 store. It wasn’t in the options.

Yeah, I’m going to guess the same. I just wish they put some kind of demo on it like Apple has with FaceID in the store. Never been a fan of going in blind.

I see the pros and cons to it as if you get a huge amount of notifications it stops you getting bugged every two secs

You still get through calls and texts on time just certain apps you don't get straight away

Just wish they allowed you to turn it on and off
The only ones I’m bothered about apart from texts and calls are the news ones. Lately I’ve been interested in all the breaking news notifications

Don’t really care about Instagram and Twitter. I’ll see them when I see them.

Imagine watching ultra hd videos? You can't.
You can but they will just be downscaled.

S10 and s10+ owners just a little favour ....
What's the maximum resolution you can watch this video? on my s9+ i can watch it on 2160s and can move around on the screen.....you have to watch it on youtube app not on the forum.

That's such a cool video. For fun I ran it on my Pixel 3XL and iPhone XR simultaneously at the highest available settings for each phone. And you all won't believe it but the images looked as crisp, if not a tad sharper on the Xr.

I will have to take a look at it on my S9+ and my husband's s10+ later .

And with the insanely high PPI on today’s flagship displays you’re unlikely to see a huge difference anyway.
I don’t think anyone is going to convince me about the XR. I’m set in my ways. It’s partly due to the fact that I refused to come back to the iPhone until they had a 1080p display, along with a few other things. They met that with the 6 plus and I seem to have gotten stuck here ever since then. So I kind of have 1080p set as benchmark. It has to be a good display top of course.

One of the things I miss about android is that google now or the google assistant as it’s now called used to give you notifications about upcoming football matches and give you live updates on the score.

Don’t get it twisted, I don’t consider the Xr a flagship by any means, but for most it’s a damn fine phone. I actually regret upgrading from my X to my XS Max. I’ve grown tired of carrying around the bigger phone. If I picked up the Samsung I’d definitely go S10 / S10e.

Must be something with this video because I can view it in 2160s on my max. Normally I’m restricted to 1080p.

No offence but any phone below 1920x1080 i won't even consider it.
