Maybe I''m a minority but I prfer a forehead to a notch or hole punch.

I find the current Samsung phones such a breath of fresh air to look at thanks to their gorgeous and unadultered screens.
They are beautiful but I think the new ones are going to look really nice, too. The dots aren’t going to look that much worse than a status icon. I ignore those easily enough.

What’s to get used to? A minimalistic, less intrusive dot.

You said exactly what, the small hole in the corner or the screen. Like multiple people have said, it might not take long but the initial reaction will probably be "oh hey, a hole in the screen" that will fade with use.

They’ll probably let you blacken out the top to form a ‘bezel’, only it’ll be a smart bezel - one that contains status bar icons (are you listening, Google?), which means you get more screen below in possibly a smaller form factor than the current S9 series.

That’s for Portrait orientation.

But when you’re watching videos/gaming/taking photos in Landscape, you’ll have a full screen with a small pimple as the only thing not displaying anything. It should fade away as you’re distracted by the rest of the screen.

& in a few years, when phone manufacturers develop a treatment for that pimple ;), there’ll be nothing to fret over.

Stepping stones.

Oh yeah. I'm not saying I'm rioting in the streets over it. It just looks weird right now and I'm saying that.

Still don't like the edge on them and I just found out TMobile is selling the One plus for only $580. Maybe that is my next phone, whenever they may be.

Two front facing cameras is the latest rumor.
Could it also be a more secure Face ID system?

Or is the entire S10 lineup meant to have the same Face ID authentication?*

*as per rumours

Found this...

“Drilling a single hole through the display wouldn’t be enough for Face ID. However, Samsung is making at least four distinct Galaxy S10 versions, and at least one of them will have a dual-lens front camera, according to recent reports. A second camera will require an additional hole in the screen, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Samsung will use the dual camera setup for 3D facial recognition. After all, Google put two front cameras on the Pixel 3 to enable wider selfies, not to enable Face ID.”

Another point is that YouTube videos are unlikely to be affected as their aspect ratio is more letterboxed compared with the ever widening smartphone screens.

That’s a good point. The dot should be hidden in the blackened area for many native aspect ratios.

& if any videos are shot in the S10 aspect ratio, the fully utilised screen will make the dot disappear anyway.

It’s going to be a good middle ground I think.

If you shot in 4k on the S10 there are likely to be black bars at either side.

Oh you were referring to black bars on the sides? Ok, I was more thinking top/bottom black bars, where the off-centre Dot would be hidden away from many videos...it makes sense Samsung didn’t place it in the centre for this reason anyway.

Is any new hardware required to support the 5G E (fake 5G) from AT&T? Or does it work with all existing 4G LTE devices? Wondering if the S10 will have any improved data speed over 4G LTE that older 4G LTE phones won't have.

I think your article is a bit dated. Last I read, there's 3 distinct versions.
