It could be a little more to the top instead of having this gap.

That is being a little nick picky imho.....
I just checked my Pixel 3 XL and iPhone XS Max
They both have the same space. If memory serves me right i can’t think of a phone that doesn’t have that space to be honest

I just don't like to see such a big notification bar as seen on recent notched phones, I much prefer a thinner line of the notification bar with maximized screen space. I even hide the navigation buttons to get the most out of the screen.

It's beautiful and I can't wait to see the colors they will offer. But I honestly am not liking the curved glass I'm seeing. In actual use I find that very off putting. In a well lit room the reflections annoy me and in a darkened room the light from the edges throws off a little bit of a glare that makes me feel like I'm reading text etched into a fluorescent light bulb.

I don't dare write off this beautiful phone but I really am disappointed that might be the way it looks in person.

I've really been enjoying being back on OLED (as nice as the Samsung one on my Pixel 3XL) and enjoying the flatness of it. I'd love to see Samsung go back to flat again.

I guess I'll keep an eye on the Lite. As long as one of the cameras has the ultra wide lens I could be happy with "just two" lenses on the back.

Well, as always, it won't do to get too worked up over a leak. I need to see them in person.

I am so with you.....I wish Samsung would go back to flat displays......But at this point and time they are too far down the curved display path to go back.
I enjoy the flat display on my Xs max and Pixel 3 XL.....but having said all that.....I'm not sure I could NOT get the S10 Plus lol

Having just gone through an entire 3 pack of high rated (obviously fake) screen protectors for my 3XL I am wondering if this display still isn't flat enough. None of them adhered properly to the edges.

Now I have my usual reliable Supershieldz brand and it adhered fine but my touches aren't being registered . It's been interesting to try and type this post out.

Lol at any of you saying pass, not getting it etc...You are all addicts!
I won't be getting it because at this point I prefer waiting 2 years before upgrading my Galaxy devices. I'll hold my comments on the other posters. But you can have fun with the bee hive of replies you're about to get. :p

You don't know what's under that area. Obviously they can't put it there like everybody else cant. Must be a reason regardless of what you like or think about it. Just because you see space there from the outside, doesn't mean it can be done.

No the ones that are saying they will get it are addicts and have other multiple phones already lol. Rarely do I get a new phone every year. It's usually 2 years unless I break it sooner.

Addicts? Who me? :eek::rolleyes:o_O;)

I prefer the term "hobbyist" thank you very much.:D
My husband is happy to share this smartphone addiction...er...hobby with me. It probably kept both of us too busy to have a proper midlife crisis complete with bimbos and toyboys and sports cars. :p

I think I've been pretty well behaved. I've stuck with HTC/Pixel, Samsung and iPhone. My time with iPhone may end with the Xr, though if Apple does not change how it handles OLED until the migration to the next kind of screen tech. My nervous system is completely incompatible with the XS series display. Xr is fine for me now but I don't know if Apple is going to continue on with LCD.

Why even get an iPhone? You seem to be more intrigued by the Android's. is iOS maybe an addiction you just can't quit? Lol

I have loved iPhones! I think highly of the Xr though mine may have a wonky battery. I loved my XS Max and it broke my heart to send it back. My complaints about it included the display setting off a seizure migraine, and the modem performing poorly. iOS has also been sloppy this past year.

But what I like about iOS is that the app quality is usually high and doesn't have as many ads popping out at me on apps as their Android counterparts usually have. I just overall notice much more marketing coming at me through Android. It's nice to pick up my iPhone and not have that coming at me as much. I notice it more especially on Amazon app and news apps . The marketing is much more heavy with notifications and information on the interface of the Android version of the Amazon app. It does push more engagement with their marketing and social media. On the iOS version I was not even really aware they have a pseudo social media thing going on there.

Why I am migrating over to the Pixel is I get a clean look and feel like that of iOS, so I'm not losing that, but I get access to features via widgets that put information I want and need a bit closer to me at a glance or a swipe. iOS has that front page that sort of has widgets but it's one long scroll to get to particular ones.

Everything is basically where Apple tells you it should be, not where YOU want it to be. And I just love AOD on Samsungs and Pixels. I don't even have to turn the phone on and key information is still there. I get time, weather and even some info about my commute there on the Pixel. On my Samsung I have a custom image I made myself on the AOD.

I can buy books within my Kindle app. As an avid reader that's important to me. I can't do that within the iPhone version of Kindle. I have to go through my browser as the path of least resistance. I have a shortcut for it but it's still not the same level of ease.

Now since this is a Samsung thread, well all of the benefits of Android apply plus Samsung builds in extra customization and features and has beautiful hardware with good support from accessory makers. They make good wearables that come the closest in my opinion to matching the appeal of Apple Watches. If they keep the lag out and the security updates coming like they have for the S9 I will be thrilled.

I'm really interested to see if they can improve batteries significantly this year because that's where my S9+ and Pixel are a bit weak. I admire that about Samsung these days. There's probably a little bit of a price to be paid for AOD and for them not doing the patented screen optimization that Apple does...which may be what also causes me to get sick looking at their less power hungry OLED displays. I appreciate that Samsung seems to be pushing for greater practicality in their interface and better performance from their batteries for this year. I'm eager to see what they come up with.

Android Pie is interesting, but what I'm reading about Q is even cooler. Alas, I'll wait. My eye is on the 512 GB version (rumor), but I'll wait one iteration for prices of components to fall before investing. 512 GB plus a slot for a 512 GB fast card is a dream come true.

Though imagine a 1 TB phone with a 1 TB fast card. Yeehaw!

The idea of 1 TB is appealing to me as well because I love taking the highest quality of photos and videos possible and having them stored locally and in the cloud and in hard drive backups on our computers.

But I am finding that I actually have been using space on both iOS and Android that indicates my optimal storage range, assuming price is a factor, is only 128 GB. I was a bit shocked by this discovery, because in the past I did fill up a 256 GB iPhone. But I haven't done that in a long time. I think I did that back before we got Google Photos and before we paid up for more icloud storage as well. I've become adept at keeping my storage on my phones leaner. I did great even on the 64 GB phones I found myself stuck with like my iPhone SE and a few of my previous Samsungs.

If I end up getting an S10 Lite, though, I probably will splurge on the maximum storage available.

I'm probably going to trade my S9+ in on an S10 or 10 Lite. I had wanted to get back into the Note but may likely wait until next year to do that and try to go cheaper and smaller this year.

With my Pixel 2 leaving me and my iPhone SE currently on loan to family, I like to have one smaller phone again since the 3XL has a generous length and width and my Xr is so heavy. So very very heavy. :( I think I'm going to put a pop socket on the Xr to give my poor pinky a rest. I'm not a fan of pop sockets but dang, the X series feels heavy. Did I say they were heavy. :p;)

This image is fake. It was busted in slashleaks by users.
Look the space at the left. If you watch last leaks there is no such space
That makes sense, because it doesn't match the other leaks. This "fake" one looks too good! :D

I forget how old your kids are, but it can be useful to catch that spur of the moment oopsie or just a great moment if they're young like ours. I've found that Google One and Amazon offer the best storage options at the best prices. I do DropBox, too, but mainly for videos that you can send a link to via text. There's a few long term storage services out there. One of which is BackBlaze. They have an AiO solution for computer backups and a B2 cloud storage for long term storage. Ideally, with pictures you want to keep, you want to have them backed up in multiple places. And with todays's flagships, you can have them printed and delivered. Though I'd rather opt for one of my actual camera for that.

Also, just an FYI, but Google Photos has a setting you need to tick (unless they changed it) to upload the full size copy and not a reduced quality one. It should keep the full size quality photo on your phone which you can upload to Drive aka Google One.

Funny you bring up Pop Sockets. I've got rather large hands but my cased phone can get heavy if I have my hand extended out for several minutes or trying to hold it steady without something to lean on. I came across them in June '17 or July '17 through a photo I'd seen on a car site and ended up finding out what they were months later. I'm not sure if they're something I'd like, especially since the adhesive might ruin a nice case. But I did spot an all aluminum capped Pop Sockets earlier this week on a deals site.

I'd probably try and make my own cap using lacquered burled wood.

If these 1TB S10+ rumours are true, then a 1TB Galaxy Note10 may be in my future come late 2019.
There were rumors of it offering even more space and more RAM. Should cost a fortune here in the US, especially in ZA. Enjoy! :)
[doublepost=1548885201][/doublepost]And, of course, there's always a plethora of photo editing apps and apps that take over the camera and offer far more useful and advanced functions.

In addition to being a mom one of my nieces and two of my nephews have blessed us with adorable infants and toddlers in the past couple of years, so yeah I'm still chasing little ones around with the cameras. Mine just hit early teen years. Thank you for all those tips. I do have a Dropbox account but I really haven't made good use of it. I need to change that. I've got some things backed up on Amazon and some to Samsung.

We also have backups locally on our own machines. We had friends who lost everything in a house fire and another friend who lost a lot in flooding. We never ever used to get tornadoes all my 50 plus years living where I do and now every year we have them, mostly small ones that barely make it onto the warnings, but still. We lost part of a roof in a kind of intense wind storm I never heard of in my life until it was right on top of us and almost exploded our windows outward. We are big believers in backups! :)

How could people ask if a notch is better than a hole ? This S10+ looks very nice

Give it time. Once "their team," whoever that is, adopts the punch hole design, it'll be the best thing ever and the first time the punch hole was "done right." ;)
