Be just your luck to miss it lol
Ha, got my sister-in-law coming over. She’s off tomorrow. It’s the good sister-in-law and not the evil one who said in all seriousness that I can’t own two phones and have to give her one of mine.

That one would poop a brick if she were the one to have to sign for my third phone. Actually I suppose she would just take it. She’s a bit odd. She’s a lovely aunt, though. And her kids and grandkids are of course very dear to me.

Anyway that’s my contribution to the discussion until @mjschabow pops in and puts us out of our state of suspense!

Lol @GrumpyMom

Welp. I gotta say, Samsung made one hell of a device. Probably the most impressive one I’ve ever used! They have come such a long way since the S6 and S7. The battery life on this is unbelievable. The camera is fun to use. All the tinkering you can do is just unbelievable.

However... two things occurred today on the 10th day...

1. It hit me during work that while everything about the phone is so cool, when it comes down to the basics, what I need out of my phone daily, the S10+ doesn’t do anything that my iPhone XR can’t do. This is for my specific needs. Yes, I know that the S10 can do a lot more in regards to features. Also, having tested both the watch and the buds, I can say confidently that apples versions of both are hands-down much better.

2. I was going through Samsung site, and I was initiating a return just because I was curious of how the process worked. Also, my cat completely destroyed the charger cable that came with the phone. So I wanted to see what the return language was. Well, I accidentally went to far and actually initiated a return. Immediately after I got an email from Samsung premium care saying that they canceled my premium care. At this point, I wasn’t even sure At that point if I really wanted to switch back to the iPhone. So I called Samsung not even worried and explained my mistake, and then they told me that there’s no way whatsoever that they can reinstate my Samsung premium care. At that point I was done with Samsung. The pre-order experience was awful, and then seeing what everyone else is going through. Also seeing the horror stories with trade-ins. And now this. It’s just not a company that I want to trust with my products.

It’s too bad because I absolutely love the phone, but now that I’m typing this on my iPhone XR, it just feels like the right device for me.

By the way, if anyone wants a pair of black galaxy buds, I only used mine twice. I’ll sell them for $90 PayPal gift.

I'm curious as to what you found better on the Airpods when compared to the Galaxy Buds?

I’m not a fan of the lack of ambient noise on the Buds. I know you can turn it on but it’s not my cup of tea. Plus the phone call quality was not on the same level as AirPods.

There is a lot of good reasons to go with an iPhone over any phone. Great pros and cons.
But why is it Samsung's fault you made a mistake?
I might be interested in your Galaxy Buds. I'll PM you in the morning :)

I sure am lol, because I’m keeping the S10+ after all.

I figured out that I can enroll my device with SquareTrade if I really want to.

The only thing I’m not sure about is if I can actually still trade in my iPhone XR or not. Samsung told me I could but I can totally see them denying it based on the fact that I initiated a return.

PS. Rant. It’s 2019 and Samsung seriously can’t reverse my accidentally going to far on a return screen to the point where I can’t have Samsung Premium Care on my device anymore???

I had the gestures turned on on my S10, but then I decided I want the immediacy of the navigation buttons. However, I don't like the navigation bar being white on some apps. Is there any way to make it transparent like it is on the home screen?

Lol, your fingers did the walking and made the decision for you! Yeah Samsung’s customer service is the kind of old fashioned beaucracy that is more like something out of the late 1970’s than the leaner more adaptive and flexible customer service Apple got most of its customers used to in more recent years. Though apparently Apple customer service can be bad to non existent in some countries.

But I do hate that kind of customer service where the csr is at the mercy of the computers and rule sheet and can’t think for themselves and find a work around.

My Xr is a good work horse. I like it. It’s just really heavy for what it is and what it does. For what it weighs, it feels like it just doesn’t do enough like a Note 9 or 10. And I really wouldn’t be thinking that way if I weren’t battling wrist strain.

Yeah that’s my biggest gripe. The fact that I honestly didn’t intend to go all the way through a return and they can’t even be fluid enough to change it back is just beyond me. But now that I’ve calm down I’ve decided to hang onto the device. I obviously have to look for other insurance now. My carrier isn’t an option because you have to activate insurance when you activate the phone. So I don’t know, I’ve heard about Square trade. What sucks is that I have never cracked or broken a phone before but it is nice to have that piece of mind.

Also, I think I’m going to return my galaxy watch and get the active. I went running with 46mm watch last night and it was way too heavy and bulky. I’d rather have a sports watch.

I love my Galaxy Watch. But I think it’s missing some features you’ve got on your watch. It’s more like a fitness band in watch shape than the kind of smart watch people are used to with an Apple Watch or the other Samsung watches or even the top of the line Fitbit.

The Watch Active. It’s super comfortable and good at sleep tracking and activity tracking but doesn’t do any kind of payment features. You can deny or initiate a call but really any phone functions have to be handled on the phone. I can get texts and do canned replies if I have a Samsung phone. I do get weather and other decent complications. But it’s not quite up to what an Apple Watch is or does, or one of the more fully featured Samsung watches that have some more phone functions.

I have Samsung Watches that are more capable but I found I rarely used those features and didn’t like the added bulk they required. Only Apple, in my experience, has been able to truly engineer so much functionality into the smallest most comfortable watch body. It really pains me to say that because I’m not well pleased with Apple right now.

Nice! That’s actually all I want for my watch. LOL just track my fitness and sleep and then maybe check messages when in meetings...maybe check the weather. I don’t need all the payment stuff!

monthly updates for GS10 and up

"Samsung is outlining the update schedule for its newest Galaxy devices. The company has published an updated version for its Android Security Updates Scope, making some significant changes.

The updated Android Security Updates Scope from Samsung states that the company’s newest Galaxy S10 devices — the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e — will now receive monthly security updates. And that’s not a surprise at all since these are, after all, supposed to be company’s latest and greatest phones.

But because these new phones are now receiving monthly security updates, Samsung is demoting some older devices to quarterly security updates. And that means if you own a Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, or Tab S3 9.7, you will no longer receive monthly security updates. Samsung is, still, offering monthly security updates for the S7 Active and S8 line, which are more than two years old, as noted by Android Police.

And all of that is pretty straight forward, but since this is Android we are talking about, the availability of updates for your phone may still vary. After all, all of this comes down to the carrier you are on, and where you live, so it’s all a big confusion. Although these updates are delivered consistently in the western side of the world, the carriers in other parts of the world frankly aren’t too bothered about these updates, and even the latest of devices often miss out on important security updates as a result."
