I think the opposite this guy is way out of touch not only with comments re west vs east but also updates have been consistent since later days of S7 and onward. The TAB S3 will also get PIE later in the year

If anything some US carriers have been the worse for releases and UK has been almost a good as most international variants that are also dual sim with added complications

Quarterly updates on S7's sounds fine to me

S10's only been out a month with 2 updates to buds and 2 updates to OS and security patch's what more do you want

Apart from GM who wants a phone LOL

I'm impressed by Apple. 4,100 mAh (S10+) vs. 3,174 mAh (XS Max). It shows you how efficient Apple software is. It makes you wonder how good battery life would be if they put a 4,100 mAh battery in the Max.

The same applies to Google cameras. The photo software processing is magical, but the hardware is lacking in comparison to others. Top notch cameras + software, will make it hard for anyone to come close to having better photos than Google.

that's great but they don't really do it stateside. yes, they come every other month or so (sometimes every 3rd month, no real consistency) but I still haven't received the latest one that others have already. I just want them to get consistent to where every GS10, regardless of region or carrier, gets the updates on a monthly basis. Too much to ask I guess. Carry on ;)

Considering the fact that the Galaxy S10+ was running at its full WQHD+ (1440 x 3040) resolution vs. The iPhones lower (1242 x 2688) resolution, I am not surprised at the results and am impressed with the S10+.

Does that affect battery life that much? On my S9+, I don't see much of a battery difference between WQHD+ and FHD+. I believe I keep it at WQHD+ all the time, though. But, my Pixel 3 XL is my daily and the S9+ has been in my drawer for months...this was before One UI came out...I'm guessing that helped with battery life?

OneUI definitely helped Battery Life, the Note9 saw great improvements from what I saw in some recent Battery Tests with it on Pie vs. Oreo.

Yes, the Resolution would definitely make a difference with a lot of what was being tested in that video.

Android phones have always been better for overall usage time thanks to Apple using tiny batteries comparatively speaking. For someone who uses their phone 2 hours a day, they will come home with more battery left due to apples far better standby drain. The perfect situation for me is an iPhone and an Android at the same time.

Battery life so much better since factory reset.

Even on 4G since 5am I. Got home at 6.30pm with still 58% left

Can't moan at that. On 42% at 20.30 so will easily last til 23.00 when I go bed.

Which one is the better measure, SoT or off chager?
Personally I think off charger

It's easy to get high screen time if you watch videos for hours but for me if you come home on a high % while using it far less I think that's a better measurement as let's face it you want to know with limited usage it can last all day.

With my new job I don't have time to be on it apart from a few texts and my one hour lunch break and maybe breakfast in morning.

Even my max I never got home with 60% left even on limited use.

I think even if I leave always on display on all the time I'm confident it won't drop too much

I have an S10e (first tried the S10 but felt it was too big and I really didn't like the fingerprint sensor) and used to have an S9. I can honestly say that I just cannot stand the Samsung phones and will never purchase another after I am done with the S10e.

1 - Configuring the thing and figuring out how to disengage totally non essential Samsung garbage on the phone can be a nightmare. It can literally take me hours to google something that I would like to do, only to find half a dozen explanations due to various android upgrades over the years. Good example of all of this is the stupid Bixby app.
2 - Speaking of Bixby, why on earth Samsung is so hell bent on providing their own appl that google has already put onto all the android phones is beyond me. They take up extra resources, use more battery power, and just all in all duplicate things that are already there serving no purpose. Whats more, it is impossible to get rid of many of them.
3 - Seems that I struggle on almost a daily basis to turn things off (like notifications asking me how I enjoyed burger king a half hour ago) only to see them start up again a few days after I have finally learned how to disable them.
4 - I never have been able to get email notifications to work correctly, neither in Gmail nor Samsung mail so I ended up having to download yet a third email app from the play store so that I do get email notifications correctly.
5 - If I am not alert, and I happen to miss a notification that Samsung has downloaded yet another useless something or other when I wasn't looking, I may then get an add pop up over something I am working on, such as paying my bills through my bank's app.....very annoying!
6 - Though the always on screen has SOME value since there is no longer a red notification light on the S10 series and there is an option to engage little notification icons on this display, the idea is really useless if I just leave in on and place the phone into the wireless charger. Why? Because even though the phone will ever so slightly move the stuff on the always on display around the screen to avoid burn in, there is a STATIONARY notification on the bottom of this display telling me that the phone is charging! Duh!! So much for preventing burn in.
7 - Menus menus menus. Seriously? Get what I am saying? The menu system is more convoluted, poorly organized and time consuming to navigate than anything I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Is there anything that I like about the S10e? Ummm, I guess the fingerprint sensor in the power button is kinda nice.

That makes sense.

I'm on 15% with normal useage and off charger at 7am.
My xs max would be on about maybe 20-25% with the same usage.

What are your screen and AOD settings?

I have QHD on all the time apart from if I switched into medium power mode

Most of the day AOD settings was on tap to show.

Might see the difference with it on all the time

Thanks! I am going to update my S9+ when I get home. I still haven't tried out One UI yet. I'm curious to see One UI is better than Touchwiz.

The S10+ is here. Flamingo Pink. Gorgeous.

But I didn't get to unbox it. :( Samsung does not seal their boxes so my phone and all the contents were tumbling around loose in the shipping box. Fortunately there's not a scratch on it and it seems to be working fine so far but I am just getting it set up. My husband is helping me with that. Well at least he's making sure I don't do anything goofy.

No earbuds. :( My husband's account shows that they are on backorder.

I've got a teal colored Clear View Smart Cover case and it looks surprisingly good with the flamingo pink phone.

Of course I'm reminded of how bloat works. It infuriates me that I can't remove/uninstall Bleacher Report and Facebook. I'll never use the former and I have a seething hatred of Facebook and deeply resent that I can only disable it. I don't want apps taking up any storage I paid for unless they're needed to run the phone. This crap should not be hardwired into my phone, in a manner of speaking. But I always fume about this when I set up a Samsung phone and I move on and forget about it quickly enough. iPhones have some apps like that, too, though mercifully not Facebook.

I have had a killer headache even before I got the phone so I can't evaluate the display for how it triggers migraines because the damned weather has already done that.

Anyway I'm thrilled it's here at long last! I guess it couldn't wait to be my phone because it unboxed itself. :p I was going to call an S10e a Pink Punk, but I have to say that any phone that can unbox itself deserves to be called the Pink Punk even if it's kind of big. In some respects it seems smaller than my S9+ so it's not seeming as big to me as I thought it would.

I can't really respond to all your points because I'm just setting my phone up. I haven't noticed really noticed all that you're complaining about on my S9+. But I haven't really used it much since putting Oreo and One UI on it.

I like Bixby. I don't use it as an alternative to Google Assistant though. I use it to program small discrete functions for my phone to preset times. My husband does that even more extensively than I do and loves it. He's got his truck programmed to start up so it's warm when he gets out there and it's also programmed to remind him to take his coffee with him when he leaves. Bixby can sometimes get in the way but mostly I ignore it.

I have some duplicate apps because I never made up my mind which I liked best. Like I now have Aquamail and Samsung mail. I use either. I also use Samsung gallery and Google Photos.

Sorry you don't like your phone much.

Yes and how heavy it would be :D

Give Samsung some credit for how efficient the S10's are for cramming it all in and still manage a headphone jack in a smaller volume

I think the display on mine might be better or different than the one on my husband's. It's still got the goofy display protector on it but it's not bothering my eyes at all and I can focus on text just fine. It is possible Samsung sneaked in some kind of update because I had a hard time focusing on letters on all the displays I saw at the store, too.

I don't see any flicker and I didn't see much black crush on the Amazon prime video 1080p version of Star Trek the first reboot movie Granted it's not the same movie that had bad crush on my husband's phone but it's got some challenging scenes that it displays well.

So that is one hurdle down. :)

I am so glad I got this folio style case because woowee the edges are really sensitive. I can avoid them pretty well with this case.

Have you got the touch sensitivity turned up to help with FPS and the screen protector as this may make the edges also more sensitive :)

I am persevering with leaving the screen protector on and the March patch also has a FPS update so it's getting better by the weeks :)

I am also a case user and the AOD works nicely now with cases ie you can leave the case open and AOD works :). Previously smart accessories like the case grayed out the AOD

Welp..I gotta give Samsung some credit. I called and escalated the issue of my premium care being cancelled. I kept pushing and pushing and I'm finally getting a call back from someone 3 levels up. The supervisor I spoke with did decide to offer me one free repair on this device just for my troubles. So as much as I've complained about Samsung, I am pleased that they at least did that.
