What would be an absolute perfect world scenario for me is if I could have the same number on two devices, everything fully synced across both devices and simply just pick up which device I fancied using that day without having to worry about cross-syncing my message etc.
Yeah that would be great to be able to do that

I did own the Max for a brief time before I decided to sell it and pick up an Apple Watch with the difference i pocketed, and I will say that for me, the Max is still the best phone you can buy. And that includes all Android devices. It’s just a gorgeous phone with a great camera, fantastic screen, amazing case and accessory options and that stellar Apple support when needed.

Agree completely. My only actual complaint with the Max is the weight. I also believe that iOS in general could allow for some ui scaling. After using the S10 (soon to be the S10+) the home screen icons on the iPhone look enormous.

It feels very dated, least on android you can make icons how you like it

My problem with the android UI is that icons don’t have to respect anything at all. Take One UI for instance: All I’d the icons are rounded squares, right? Not Telegram. It has to be unique and is round no matter what.

Now granted, that is one example, and all of my other apps respect the rounded square icons. But maybe if there was some sort of design language that says “your icons must have three shapes and here they are, otherwise it won’t be accepted to the play store...”

This has always been a complaint of mine but I'm pretty sure OneUI makes them all rounded squares. At least all my apps are. The only time they leave that design language is if I choose a different icon set in the Samsung Store.

And yes, back to iOS, that was the main thing that suck out to me when I had 4 hours of weakness with the iPhone XR. I don't like putting all my apps in folders on iOS because it limits to 9 apps on the first page of the folder. So I just end up having all my apps on the home screen. So bored with that. I love actually being able to place my apps where I want on my homescreen and *gasp being able to us a picture of my kids and be able to see their faces on my homescreen.

Same here! Other than my 4 hours of weakness the other day I am ready to move on. The only thing I'm keeping is my Apple TV because I have over 200 purchased iTunes movies from the last 10 years.

You can now link those movies to the "Movies Anywhere" app and watch on other devices. For me, I prefer the Nvidia Shield TV to my Apple TV 4k, mainly because YouTube TV runs better on it. But it's also a Google cast target among other things. So you could dabble (or at least try) other TV hardware and still watch those movies.

You would think OneUI would do that, but no .

Thanks! It does add most of my movies with the exception of around 40. I do have Twin Peaks and Lost series purchased that don't transfer over which sucks. But I rarely watch them on my phone anyway so it's not a deal breaker.

yeah, I hate that inconsistency too. I just use Nova Prime with the Pixip icon pack. Easy and clean and all icons are round and well made.

gotcha. that stinks and definitely not the best solution then. At least it could work in a pinch on a get away trip with a roku or fire stick.

Yeah, but then again, the app Showbox also takes care of that problem too. LOL

Can you rearrange the icons in the app drawer, or are you stuck with an alphabetized list like you are with the pixel launcher?

As Biffy Clyro would say, they would never break your heart, only re-arrange (yes you can customize it how you want). ;)

Not sure about alphabetized or not, but you can have folders and you can do drawer groups... so customize tabs for different categories of apps per your liking. Here's a screenshot of the app drawer settings page if you are interested.

Take a trip over to the developers resources there are massive guidelines for icon and interface design

Same happens on Iphones some apps do not always follow the rules and get through but it seems your example the developer specifically blocked the 1 UI background Icon fill to remain circular

Weird, when I'm actually using the phone the battery hardly drains. Just sitting around it seems to drain on its own, I guess via AOD.

Anyway I'm still customizing it. Getting all the apps and widgets and shortcuts where I want them. I got lazy on my S9+ and Pixel and just kept diving into my app drawer but this time I'm being diligent and micromanaging. It is fun.

Both my Xr and my s10+ will therefore be fully customized. I did take the time and go through and cluster all my related iOS apps on separate pages and in folders. You can sort of customize an iPhone, within limits. It is what it is.

My sunny yellow Xr and my cheerful flamingo pink S10+ make such a cute pair. :D I am very happy with this combo so far.

Next test though will be to see if I get the same weird problems writing reviews in the Amazon apps on my Samsung that I do on my Pixel. If I don't get the same problem then, I might have to reconsider the Pixel upgrade path...assuming the Pink Punk remains a smooth operator in the months before the Pixel 4 debut.

Probably all the back-ups running when the device has been idle for a while :)

Disclosure: This is for my S7 Edge, running Android 8.

There's an easy solution for that. You don't need Nova Launcher or any other third party Launcher. Just go into display settings, and choose icons with frames. Now all icons are squarcles.

Then icons like Spotify and Shazam, that are not squarcles, end up being squarcles for consistency.

Nova launcher is fun for a while
Nova launcher is fun for a while, but everything gets old eventually.
Yes but Nova has a bunch of options from changing the icon shapes and icon packs altogether. A bunch of themes and backgrounds incorporated with different icons. Granted some don't have every icon included to match the rest til it updates and I'm sure that bothers some people but just with Nova there are a lot of options.
Then there are a bunch of others if you want to explore but for me it's too time consuming to look at and try all of them.

One UI is better than it was but I still don't prefer it for everyday use. I always switch back to Nova.

Ahhh knew this was on previous Galaxy's but could not find it on S10

Oh, I should have mentioned, I have an S7 Edge running Android 8. The S10 would be running Android 9, so it may have changed. That being said, I'm also running Nova Launcher because of all the different icon packs. Squarcles and Circles are my preference. Mind you, I've seen tons of One UI icon sets.

All Squarecles for me here at the moment.

I got two great looking dragon wallpapers from the Samsung theme store that go great with the flamingo pink. I love the Samsung theme store.

I wish they had a kind of "intelligent" icon resize option where the shape would be filled out with the predominant color of the original icon. Those white backgrounds don't really do it for me honestly.
