Very minor but cool thing. Looks like theme developers are now able to theme the Samsung Internet app. I'm using the Fab Black theme by Anup Rode and it's now black.

Great black theme by the way.

I'm talking about mobile phone speed while not tethered to your wi-fi. You're not going to do anything that you can't do with 20-40mbps which is already lightning fast on a phone. Until phones actually have functions that necessitate 5 g speed, I don't see this having much of an impact on day to day usage. At this point, 5g is over-hyped. Call me in a few years.
again....thats your opinion...it won't make a difference in how YOU use your phone....you can't speak to how I use my phone. You don't speak for everyone. Read all the posts about how it will make a difference to a lot of people.
Then 5G isn't just for mobile....it is also for home interneto_O

Gigabit internet for the win. There isn’t a single carrier that can manage to get more than two bars in my building. Unless 5G has some ability to penetrate older buildings, I’ll pass.

Someone asked earlier about pricing. From what I have read so far:

Verizon: $10.00 premium / month
T-Mobile: No price increase.

Have not seen anything on AT&T or Sprint.

DUHHHHH, but we're talking about cell phones here. Tell me what 500 mbps will do for you while you're walking down the street that 50 mbps cannot? Not much. This is not an opinion, this is fact.

Come back at a later date and tell me how your life has improved with a 5g cell phone. Maybe in 5 years I'll be impressed.

I use my phone on the train for my 2 hour commute each way. Some people don’t have good wifi at home or might want to cut their broadband bill and just use their phone. Maybe people are on vacation or a business trip and need access to fast cellular data.

The 500 MB’s will be useless without an unlimited data plan. If someone has a use case for that speed walking down the street, the enabler is the unlimited plan.

I have 100GB on my current plan but I’ve never used it all.

no....YOU were talking about cell phones......I said I couldn't wait for 5G I didn't specify...you went on to speak for me and said it wouldn't make a difference. In this thread me and others have given you examples of how it will make a difference for us. Then no one is pushing you to get 5G....but the rest of us are excited for it....

I doubt it will make much of a difference in your life.

My Flamingo pink silicone case arrived from Samsung. It is lovely but is only good for scratch protection. Samsung has really skimped on their case designs and materials thickness this year. I can't recommend either of mine. Fortunately I paid only about $3-$4 after discounts and rewards points were applied. I have 2 clear cases for which I paid $4 and $0 via Slickdeals and Amazon.

This case is gorgeous and feels like its barely there. It is not protective in the least. I'd need to put the phone in a sleeve to stow it safely in my purse. Even then there isn't enough protection for the sides. Also, the little insert says they recommend taking the case off for wireless power share.

My fps went from working beautifully to not working at all the last few days. I put that down to the change in weather back to freezing cold and my skin drying out. The fps needs moisture to work, at least in my experience. I'm thinking it should work well in the spring and summer.

everything! Every app that goes to the internet will be lightning fast.
[doublepost=1554510908][/doublepost]
That is the future...they will offer it for home use as well. You will ge a 5G device that will provide internet for the whole home.
Honestly the only places you'll see a difference over 4g will be video streaming and multiplayer gaming. The basic app that goes out to a server isn't being bottlenecked by lte speeds.

Does anyone know if Samsung plays any games with the signal strength indicator in the way Apple is reputed to mess with the battery level indicator?

I am asking because to my happy surprise I am getting a full 5 out of 5 bars on AT&T on my S10+ but only 3 out of 4 on my iPhone Xr.

When this sim is in my Pixel 3XL, I usually get 4 out of 5 bars of signal. This is while sitting on the ground floor level of my house. I usually make calls upstairs from my bedroom where all the phones usually pull in full signal.

I'm just wondering if the reception is that much better in my S10+ than my other two phones. However, I have no complaints about the call quality I get on my Xr.

I'm decently settled into it now. I have just a couple of apps for my truck and car insurance company that I need to log into and set up. I need to get some info from my husband for that.

I haven't really tested out the camera much, yet. Got injured taking care of my elderly but still excitable large dog and I'm just wiped out.

I just got a tempered glass cover film for my camera glass. It just arrived. I applied it a tiny bit crooked but it's sticking so far. I've never bought one of these before but felt I should at least try one this time, because none of my cases really protects the lenses. And now there are three of them on a wide slot of glass.

Right now my S10+ is my favorite phone. That's not surprising, given that I loved my S9+. I love how I've got it customized. Next up I'll be programming Bixby to do my bidding.:D

What I don't like is that the fps periodically needs me to re register my fingerprints to keep working optimally. It is not a deal breaker for me. It honestly doesn't even slow me down because I'm used to having to enter my pin into my Xr when Face ID fails. But I could see that driving away a lot of people.

I miss the awesome fps on my Pixel 3XL. But so far that's all I miss. I thought the curved edges on the S10+ would drive me nuts after the flat perfection of the 3XL display. But it isn't the annoyance I feared it would be when I first saw my husband's s10+.

Battery life has been ok and much better than on any of my other phones. But not as outstanding as my husband sees on his. But I haven't tried to optimize it in any way. That will be on my to do list.

I wish they had a kind of "intelligent" icon resize option where the shape would be filled out with the predominant color of the original icon. Those white backgrounds don't really do it for me honestly.

I'll go one better, it would perfect if they offered an option where we could actually choose the color of the icon frame. Nova Launcher also doesn't let you choose a custom color. Although, Nova lets you chose a default shape.

The closest thing I found is an icon theme pack on the Samsung store but of course you need to use the default launcher.

All of my icons are now perfect circles with mostly green background color.

It is a whole theme pack for the entire phone called Alpaca by Gomu. I thought I could apply just the icons out of the pack because I used to be able to do that with past theme packs, meaning I used to mix and match components from different theme packs. But it looks like I can't anymore. Weird.

Unfortunately if you want it you will have to accept Alpacas on your phone. :D

Okay now my icons are all cats. This was a stand alone icon pack. I think I'm going to need some mental help soon.

I disagree....when apps open slower while they connect to the app servers it is about internet speed. Are you really saying I won't see a difference in watching Netflix on my phone connecting at 40MB and 500MBs? Or uploading 30 pics to Facebook?
Then home internet will be a game changer for me...going from 40-50 speed to 500.

OK bixby might be awful but bixby routines are awesome

I've set my phone to dim brightness and resolution wise to go to HD when it gets under 25%

When the time is 23.00 that's bedtime so brightness goes to 0%

When time hits 07.00 the brightness reaches 50%

Just the little things as part of my daily usage which works great

If the screen is off when you’re in bed, what does adjusting the brightness do?
