If the screen is off when you’re in bed, what does adjusting the brightness do?
I have it down to 0% so when I do wake up and check notifications in the night it doesn't blind me and the same when the alarm goes off at 5am when I go work. I always just turn it off to zero brightness normally least now I don't need to adjust anything and when I get to work as well

:eek:Wow. 1 day 2 hours use without charging so far. 7 hours and 35 minutes of screen on time 9 hours 26 minutes estimated use left at 26% battery. :D

Beast! I think my Pixel 3XL isn't getting the sim card back. I keep thanking my husband for nagging me to keep my preorder. He doesn't have to say "I told you so" because I keep telling him "You told me so." :p

That's really the differentiator of this phone. This is definitely the first Android phone where I feel 100% confident in the battery. Meaning that in the 2.5 weeks I've had it, I haven't had any crazy issues with apps going rogue and draining my battery. And it's consistent too!

Honestly the only places you'll see a difference over 4g will be video streaming and multiplayer gaming. The basic app that goes out to a server isn't being bottlenecked by lte speeds.

Many people use a VPN for browsing, and streaming region restricted videos. Having a faster connection will lessen the impact of the inevitable reduced speeds from a VPN.

I remember I imported the galaxy s7 edge because the exynos was on another level. Weird how things change in only a few years.

Ok I am on the road taking a Sunday drive through my old neighborhood where my husband and I used to live early in our marriage. I am taking some pictures. No video. I was taking video over an hour ago at a different location.

The focus did start to lag and the phone overheated so I had to restart it. Then I had to turn it off. It cooled down and I started to take photos again and it started heating up again.

Is this from doing all that fancy pants processing? My pixel 3XL also gets hot when I take a lot of photos. S9+ doesn't.

Camera performance is excellent and the focus went back to fast when I restarted. I love the super wide angle and the zoom, too. No complaints other than wondering if all this heat is normal. I mean it was getting really hot to hold.

Ah figured it out. Google photos backing up via cellular. Got the data warning. I turned that off.

I had a classic case of switcher's dilemma last night. I decided to power up my XS Max last night and instantly fell in love with it and my Apple Watch again. Everything is just so...smooth and fluid and responsive. The hardware is gorgeous.

So, I've swapped my SIM over and I'm going to have an Apple week. Just because. I'm interested to see what I'll miss from S10/Pixel 3 XL/Android in general this week. :)

Worth a try that way you know what you really value and miss the most

Picked up my max last night and smoothness is a huge part of the experience but damn opened the home screen and everything just felt so boring just seeing apps and nothing else. I really hope apple changes that with ios 13

I hope this, too. I think that the iPad (Pro, especially) will get a lot of iOS 13 attention. I'm just not sure about the iPhone. I think Apple did the right thing with 12 making it super stable and smooth - the rekindling of my affection for the experience when I powered up my Max is testament to that.

I think the smoothness and scrolling is something unmatched by anybody on an iPhone or iPad. I may just keep my max to still give me that iPhone experience when I need it or want to really know how much I love my samsung phone. I’m tempted to keep the max for the IOS 13 experience if it is any good of course.

The iPad is something I don’t think I could ever get rid of but at the same time don’t think I will upgrade any apple product again until they get their hardware on par with the comp and the pricing similar to the comp as even though samsung phones are expensive they still offer more storage for £150 less.

I bought the 512GB S10’s plus and think maybe I shouldn’t have got this model as I still have 450GB left on it lol....although I do love the cermic black compared to the Normal glass.

I maybe should have got the 128GB model which would have been enough storage and just got an SD card for any videos I would take as apps wise I have all the apps I need now and still have only used 60GB of storage and the apps I have downloaded have only took up 7GB and photos wise I just use google photos now.

So really I could end up saving £350 getting a samsung over a 256GB max. As although 256GB is enough if I needed to add more storage I couldn’t while with an SD card I could just store it all on the SD card.

Saying this if keeps giving us the ceramic then it’s a model I would love to keep getting and from all the videos i’ve Seen protection wise it is far better than any other glass out there.

I think you did well getting the ceramic. If I could have afforded it and been able to support the added weight with my bad wrist I would have gotten the ceramic model and 512GB myself. I always love having the luxury of additional storage and the ceramic finish is just amazing. Who wouldn't want that added durability?

I find scrolling and operations to be smooth. But then I don't have the Xs Max. I remember it looking nice and loving the Max while I had it, and being absolutely crushed when I realized it was making me very sick. Had I been able to keep it, who knows how I'd be feeling about everything.

The Xr is a great phone but it's not the model that is meant to showcase the cutting edge of what Apple can design and engineer. From the single lens to the reduced resolution, it's a series of compromises to fit into a very odd niche.

However, I do love the colors! Getting to move to a cheery bold yellow took some of the sting out of having to return my Max.

Got to admit picking up my max I forgot how heavy it is in comparison to the S10 plus. Far harder to hold even though it’s basically the same size. IOS keyboard is great though even though the keys are far smaller than what I use on my S10 plus.

I can hold the S10 plus for hours no issues but the max just feels more difficult to hold. I’m tempted to keep the max but I’m not sure I can see a use case for it long term

Lol yeah even my smaller Xr feels like a brick. I did not have wrist strain when I had the Max so the weight didn't bother me at the time.

What I like about my S10+ so far is how extensively customized I have it. I absolutely love my calendar widget and the fact I have it exactly one slide over from my home page and have other smaller useful widgets with it, all arranged exactly as I want them. I can also customize my 3XL and I have. But the OneUI takes customization to another level.

I also enjoy being back on Samsung mail and I like having both Samsung Gallery and Google photos. I know that drives some people crazy but I like having both available to me.

I am also liking the stock keyboard for this forum. Usually I prefer Gboard, but Gboard and my iPhone keyboard have struggled to get along with this forum's text entry interface. On my iPhone text selection has been messed up. And on GBoard on my Pixel text correction has been weird and ridiculous. Everything "just works" on my S10+ ;)

I've maybe gone overboard with how much I've added to my home screen. It's what I've missed though. I feel I'm using every feature that makes the phone great.

Widgets is what I've missed seeing sport scores at glance or news articles instead of going in apps to see what's new, weather etc.

I'm loving apps Edge too so easy access when I need it along with picture in picture too.

Even my lock screen is how I want it.

It's hard for me to see myself ever using an. IPhone as my daily driver again.

I know you considered your S9 as near perfect, im interested to hear if the s10 is meeting expectations for you?

Are you missing the tight integration of the Apple ecosystem? I found in time things actually become easier to do then in the Apple ecosystem, its just requires a small amount of knowledge to learn new ways to achieve things.

I thought that's what I would miss the most but I really haven't. I use Google photos so everything syncs as it would on ios and my galaxy watch I use pretty much the same as I did on my apple watch.

Galaxy buds work syncing wise like I used my air pods so really nothing is missed ecosystem wise as my home speakers are Google hubs as well

I still use my ipad Pro but I have a galaxy tab S4 as well which has basically same layout as my S10 plus so I basically have a Samsung ecosystem without being forced to do things a certain way

Yeah I use Google photos aswell so photo syncing is taken care of, i use Spotify for my music which integrates with my Yamaha amp very well. Google drive is used for all my file transfer needs, i have it synced on my Macbook air so it's completely seamless. My bookmarks are synced between Samsung browser and Chrome aswell. Then I have multiple Chromecasts for casting Netflix, YouTube and music. Everything integrates extremely well together and im not locked down for hardware or service choices.

How you sync your samsung browser guessing it’s saved via samsung cloud? I’ve synced my contacts so guessing it will sync via samsung cloud as well.

Interesting personnel shakeup at Samsung US Marketing division. They've let go the man who did a deft job of steering them past the Note 7 disaster and recovering their reputation, along with much of the staff. So I have to wonder what their internal investigation revealed that was so bad they would do that.

@torana355 so far it is matching my S9+ in most respects. The addition of the wide angle lens is a plus. The difficulty I've had recently with the fps is a minus. But the temperatures are back up today and my fingers are no longer dry so already it's back to working for me again. Honestly I would much rather have the power button lowered a bit and have the fps embedded in the side button instead, as it is on the s10e.

Fortunately, when I'm wearing my Galaxy Watch Active it can be a trusted device and allow me to leave my phone unlocked.

I did notice the camera autofocus was a bit slow yesterday but I do have a lens protector on it. The lens protector got dirty and caused some actually very pretty lens flare on a couple of my photos. So if it could do that it possibly was messing with my autofocus. I certainly didn't have any problems with the autofocus prior to installing the lens protectors. I'll have to do some more testing to see what's going on.

Everything else so far seems great! Speed, smoothness, video playback, call quality, modem performance, battery life, audio over wired headphones, audio over my bluetooth headphones, audio over the phone speakers, ergonomics is really knocking my socks off! :D

Oh, I do have to test video recording. My daughter was trying to take a video yesterday and claims the camera just shut off. The video did save up to the point she says it abruptly cut off It's possible she fumble fingered something to stop it but I need to check the camera functions through all settings fully.

I'm still thinking about switching from the regular Watch to the Watch Active. This thing is just so huge. Curious for those that have the Active, how is battery life?

Unpopular opinion but what you guys laud as "customizability" I find garish and cluttered.
I mean its great that you have granular control over settings and notifications but Idk, using the homescreen customizability as a selling perk doesn't work for me (my opinion). The homescreen layouts that are posted here on this thread as well as reddit are definitely not my cup of tea. It looks as bad as when iOS used skeuomorphic design cues.

iOS I guess can be "boring" but its professional looking, uncluttered, and straight to the point, something a cellphone should be. On the contrary, I feel iOS became a bit bloated once they introduced the nonsense features such as animoji and message apps but on the Samsung/Android side I mean how many times a day can a person go into a theme store and look at fonts, icon packs, etc.?
