Weird, when I'm actually using the phone the battery hardly drains. Just sitting around it seems to drain on its own, I guess via AOD.

Anyway I'm still customizing it. Getting all the apps and widgets and shortcuts where I want them. I got lazy on my S9+ and Pixel and just kept diving into my app drawer but this time I'm being diligent and micromanaging. It is fun.

Both my Xr and my s10+ will therefore be fully customized. I did take the time and go through and cluster all my related iOS apps on separate pages and in folders. You can sort of customize an iPhone, within limits. It is what it is.

My sunny yellow Xr and my cheerful flamingo pink S10+ make such a cute pair. :D I am very happy with this combo so far.

Next test though will be to see if I get the same weird problems writing reviews in the Amazon apps on my Samsung that I do on my Pixel. If I don't get the same problem then, I might have to reconsider the Pixel upgrade path...assuming the Pink Punk remains a smooth operator in the months before the Pixel 4 debut.
AOD drains 6% of my battery each day if its on all day

Now I use it for tap to show

That's one of those things where you balance power saving and functionality. I use and rely on AOD so much that I'm fine with 6% battery drain.

Well yeah I mean you could set it power mode to 30% left and reduce battery with that on

I've got to the point now where as long as it lasts all day I'm good
I can't kill the battery in one day no matter how hard I try. Its a fantastic phone really. The screen is amazing, the battery life is solid, the call quality and data speeds are great and its blazing fast with a great camera.

I did at the set have night mode on all the time and a black background to save battery and aod off but now I don't need to worry so now I use the phone to its full capacity as it should be really

Do we even need it?

What will that speed do that you can't do now with 1/10th of?
everything! Every app that goes to the internet will be lightning fast.

Wow not even my home broadband is close to that.
That is the future...they will offer it for home use as well. You will ge a 5G device that will provide internet for the whole home.

LOL. They're already lightning fast. 5G will be very useful for a lot of things, but LTE is already more than enough speed for normal phone usage; I doubt it will make much of a difference in your life. ;)

I wonder if 5G will be more battery efficient. Because let's face it, phones still drain much faster on 4G!

Initially it's going to be very inefficient. That's why the first 5G phones like the Galaxy S10 5G will have larger batteries. No cellular data will ever be able to rival a strong wifi connection.

maybe it won't make a difference for your use cases o_O. But it will be dramatic for me.....i get about 20 to 40 MB DL on cellular and 50 on my home internet. So getting 500MB DL for home and mobile will be a HUGE performance difference.
Being able to stream Netflix and Hulu on my phone is going to be spectacular with 5G.
So for my uses is will make a difference compared to what i have now

I get around 250 Mbps for my home wifi which is decent. My mobile data speeds vary wildly. Sometimes its decent between 30-50 mbps but over times its 3 or 4 and my carrier has the cheek to call that 4G:rolleyes:

I get 200/100 @ home and even then I wish it were faster sometimes, 900/400 is only another 40 odd bucks a month though :)
Doing bulk uploads to Google photos for example, faster is better.

I'm all for faster, cant imagine why people wouldn't want it.

The S10 5G device looks very impressive. The screen size, battery and ToF camera make it sound sensational and even if 5G isn't here for a while, then on 4G it should be a beast.

Rumour has it that it will be Snap Dragon globally, too.

I'm talking about mobile phone speed while not tethered to your wi-fi. You're not going to do anything that you can't do with 20-40mbps which is already lightning fast on a phone. Until phones actually have functions that necessitate 5 g speed, I don't see this having much of an impact on day to day usage. At this point, 5g is over-hyped. Call me in a few years.
