Yeah the update made the fps work a lot better, even through my cheap, thick, but optically clear film protector. Thank goodness.

As for when updates arrive, getting a March update in mid-April is actually pretty good for a Samsung phone. Mine is on AT&T, a carrier which is usually as slow as molasses on updates. Slow, as in usually last of the carriers to push out updates.

Not in my book o_O. Samsung is always notoriously behind in Android updates! But I think they are on par with others like LG and Huawei if I'm not mistaken.

Gets to the point with android (Pixel aside) where I just don't bother checking where my security date / software is at. :p
I just accept it for what it is haha.

What is the patch level on your new P30?

No idea!
I will have to check but I'm in work currently and my phone is locked away outside.

I haven't had an update since I've owned the phone though (a week) and there wasn't one waiting out the box so I imagine it'll be March / April.

Very true. The big update that I'm excited for is the night camera update. That will be big, otherwise, it's probably best to just not think about it, lol.

Getting the March update now on my direct from Samsung S10+

Just installed this on my S10e. Curious whether this update resolves:

1) Night mode always on within Android Auto unless I set a Bixby routine
2) LDAC 990kbps bug where I need to disable location to get it to work properly

Fingers crossed.

Edit- so now Android messages app is behaving weird (again). Now I always see the "paste / clipboard" pop up every time I am about to type a message. Tried resetting data and cache, no luck. I would uninstall and re-install the app, but Google Play store is now doing its thing where all my apps that need updating are stuck on "download pending" and nothing happens. Decided to uninstall and am using stock Samsung messaging app.

Why is it always something haha.

What happened to the s9 plus trade in? Now only 300 bucks compared to 550. Not worth it now.
It was astonishing that it lasted as long as it did.

My wireless earbuds arrived today. They sound great and work well. I was only doing laundry, not working out, so I didn’t have any dropouts that the rest of you all endured.

I like them but they look like cotton balls stuffed in my ears. I wish they were the black ones. Oh well they were free.

I'm not surprised. I've lost track of the number of video and print reviews in which the reviewers raved about pics from the Huawei and dissed pics from a Samsung or iPhone or, more rarely a Pixel, and I sat there wondering why they weren't seeing the same issues with the Huawei photos I was seeing.

I will be honest and say right now I've got several axes to grind with Apple and I'm not happy when they do something that beats out an Android phone I like, because I am being a bitter sow.:p But their pictures are much better than they're getting credit for in a lot of reviews. Their pictures are better in a lot of my own tests in my own home, if the light is good. That's their weakness right now, they lose detail in indoor photos. But they handle so many tricky lighting situations outdoors with grace. They are kicking ass when it comes to tricky exposures.

I don't know how the bandwagons got formed or what enticed the reviewers to sign on, but right now Huawei and OnePlus are the golden children and everyone is jumping on their bandwagons. To a much lesser degree Google basks in that glow, too.

There are a lot of times I've seen pics from the 3xL vastly overrated in a review and I think it's just because people got the idea it's heresy to knock a Pixel photo. Well let me tell you, I absolutely adore my Pixels to the point of naming them cute names, but I get my fair share of photos out of them that my Xr and S9+ photos have easily beaten into the ground.

The hype machine has been out in full swing for the Huawei phones since last year. I get it; they're making the effort we all wish the old favorites would. They're going all out and that's exciting. But the reviewers aren't being as honest as they should and are leading people on that the cameras outshine the competition, when they really pull even. Except of course in extreme zoom photography, which nobody else has, yet.

I think that says more about people's unaddressed frustrations with Apple and Samsung than it does about Huawei's prowess. However, they do lead the pack in pushing the limits and for that, I salute them.

All the flagships take great pics, it's mostly down to personal preference. Having owned both, I think the S10+ takes a better picture than the P30 Pro.

I just got the Galazy Watch Active yesterday and boy I hope I can get used to the size. And the battery has been horrendous so I hope it normalizes. Honestly folks, is this way too small on me?
