Here in Australia, as long as you sign in 2 years contract you can purchase any phone you like. We are expecting s10+ to be on $130-$140 bracket plan.

Reality is, most people do 2yr contracts. It's all about making these flagships affordable for the masses. I honestly never understood why anyone would get a mid-range phone, unless they prefer to buy outright. For instance, I'd rather get a wicked deal on a S9+ or even an S8+ right now, instead of buying a just released mid-range phone. Last year's flagship will always be better than the current year's mid-range.

Good points but many phone users doesn't even know what flagship is, my 3 brothers and sisters for example never buy top range flagship phones coz they probably dont know whats the diff between a flagship and mid range.

You are right though, i'd rather buy last year's flagship than current mid range phone

Ugh, all the talk about contracts reminds me every time a new Samsung phone comes out that I want I have to decide on unlocked vs carrier model. With iPhone and Google we go unlocked. With Samsung we go with carrier because my one experience with unlocked was bad. I couldn't get all the service features I wanted and then Samsung never issued updates for it. I don't think I even got security updates. I know things have changed so I'll have to look into it again. But I dread being beholden to the carriers for anything. AT&T customer service has been so hit or miss and there is an arrogance about them and Verizon. My dad is retired from Verizon and they treat him like crap as a customer and a pensioner

The only reason I do carrier is for the freebies Samsung offers and the billing credits my carrier offers at launch. Makes the whole thing totally worth it. I honestly smh when people on this forum look down on freebies or bogo deals as if it means their not getting a premium device. Absolute brain dead mentality to brag about paying more for a device. Especially when that device isn't exactly premium hardware. Lol. Galaxy flagships will always be some of the most premium devices in the market.

Nice specs. Looks good. I wonder how well that side mounted sensor works. The bezels remind me of those on my Xr which I’m using at this moment.

Thanks and keep those leaks coming! This is exciting. We are getting closer to the big reveal. I have no idea what I’m going to do. My brain has turned to jelly! It’s fun.

When I was a little kid back in the 1970’s my friends and I used to use plastic cases that nails and screws were sometimes sold in and pretended those were hand held computers. We had the concept of hand held computers at all from Star Trek and Electro Woman and Dyna Girl (they had something sort of like a gigantic Apple Watch with lasers, I think they were called Electro Comps).

Now here we are and wow, look at them all. Even the ones that are cheap and bare bones are more than 8 year old me ever would have believed I would own someday. Actually 8 year old me also ran around in slow motion pretending to be bionic. Now THAT is an advancement I’m happy to pass on. But I’ll happily take these smart phones!

I used a Sony phone last year that had a side mounted FP sensor and it actually worked quite well for me. I'd imagine Samsung will use a good sensor for this one (or at least, let's hope they do)

I'd just hand over honors to my S9+ but if the reviews are great on the S10 I will put in for one last upgrade for the cameras. But yeah, if it's over $1000,

Phones have entered the spec wars that computer manufacturers like Hewlett Packard, Gateway, HP and Dell had in the 00.

Diminishing returns have taken phones to a level which an extra 10-30% in real world performance is going to cost alot of money. Phones are becoming so expensive that the recent years models are becoming pie in the sky to consumer.

Chinese manufacturers are being to have a blast watching their marketshare skyrocket as consumers flee Samsung and apple for phones that only cost a third.

Just wait until Google or a camera software company licence their images processing software to cheap phone manufacturers. That's when it will become very hard to justify spending $1,000 just for a better camera.

Even Apple are cannabslising the Xs and Xs Max using thr Xr.

Then you'll be glad to know youy can change them to whatever you choose. Isn't it great not to be walled in with no choice? Than to be stuck with the same cheap and tired looking icons for 10yrs and counting? Brutal.
Oh, yeah, I used to do that when I had a Galaxy S8+, but I stopped because there wasn’t one icon pack that covered most of the apps I had downloaded and because I had better things to do with my life. I really like the iOS icons.

I'm going with carrier this time because the carrier of my Note 9 (Sprint is my carrier) is rolling out Pie and the Unlocked is not.

Naw, there's always a pack you'll like. In fact there are even iOS looking icon packs.
As for having better things to do with your life, I highly doubt that. I say that because, here you are posting on trivial things, taking more time than it would take to change icon packs. But hey, whatever makes you happy.

Well there you go, same goes for changing icon packs. Thanks for the assist.
I think you missed the part where I said none of the icon packs would cover all of my icons, which was frustrating and I would then have to hunt for icon packs that possibly would (none did), and so I gave up because I had/have better things to do.

Thank you, next.

And here's Samsung's Powershare feature (reverse wireless charging) in action, charging the new Galaxy Buds. And unlike Huawei's 2W charging, Samsung's reverse charging is said to be at 9W. If true, then that's almost twice as fast as Apple's stock charger for the iPhone. How embarrassing. Only thing more disgusting than a company to charge premium price for such dollar store hardware, is a consumer thinking its OK and rationalizing the greed of such a company to do so.

BTW, current rumor is, you get a free pair if you
pre-order.

Wow those buds look slick. Drool.

I wonder if I can wear those. I have such a weird physiology. Along with not being able to work with iPhone OLED, I am in that tiny infinitesimal percentage of people who react badly to airpods. I couldn't wait to get my airpods. And now I can't wear them. I and another guy on this forum end up with a high pitch shrieking noise and pain in our ears that takes weeks to fade. There are others out there with this problem but not very many.

I have mild tinnitus I normally barely notice, but it amps up to suicide inducing levels on Airpods. My Beats Bluetooth earbuds don't do that. None of my other gear does that. So freaking weird. I have to wear the Airpods for about 15 minutes to really get affected which is why I never noticed when I tried my husband's for a minute or two before asking for a pair of my own last year.

I have a pair of IconX earbuds I got when I got my S7 for Christmas. I didn't like them much. They would pop out of my ears and go flying and they didn't sound too good. I would love a pair of good wireless earbuds but so far only my Beats make the cut. I usually wear wired buds.

Now the AKG headphones I got with the S8 promotion are sweet. I love those. They sound great with any of my Android phones. They're ok with my iPhones.

Reverse charging seemed to me to be a weird gimmick, but seeing the phone charge those buds is pretty cool. I can see the point now.

Hi DT, there are some icon packs that encircle all the icons. They might not have had them when you had your S8+, but I have some now on my S9+. Scrolling through the theme sets makes me feel like a kid in a candy store but I can understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. :p

I look for icon packs that work more like frames for the icons rather than change them outright. They give a nice uniform look to my icons, without disguising them to the point I don't recognize them. And they will get applied to all of the icons, not just a select few.

But right now I just have the nekkid icons. I liked the plain no frills look on my Pixel so I changed my icons on my S9+ over to plain and I like that for now.

As for customizing an iPhone, I haven't done this on my Xr, but have done this on my 8 Plus and going back to the 6 Plus: I used a wallpaper app to make wallpapers that have themed frames on them. Apple icons will settle into these frames when the wallpaper is applied. I think this is what @Sevanw was talking about.

Samsung just bought Corephotonics a couple of weeks ago. We should see the trickle down in a year or two. I'm more curious about Google's Fuchsia in future mobile phones.
