My husband and I had to switch back to iPhones bc he has a new medical device that has an associated app only available for iOS and Apple Watch at this time. We went with XR’s so we can switch back when the soon promised Android app becomes available. We both really miss our Note 8’s. Still no lag after using for 18 months although battery life has deteriorated for both of us. I thought moving back to iMessage would be a big perk but honestly WhatsApp works just as well for us at this point and iOS friends and family who care had already switched to WhatsApp for messaging with us. We are still using WhatsApp for lots of group interactions! I really miss the customization of Android and the back button as well as AOD. I hate the static icons and lack of customization on iOS. Apple Watch functionality has been the only real benefit in switching back for us and we liked the form factor of our Gear S3’s better. I don’t see any difference in app quality between iOS and Android for my purposes. Wish so hard we could pre-order S10+’s and get the free earbuds. I love the prism white! I know there was a time when Apple software was better but that time has passed and they are being left behind hardware and price-wise, at least IMO.

FYI, the S10's are on display at Best Buy if you want to take a look before ordering.

Thanks, I'll play with the S10 and S10E. Although having that extra 2gb RAM, under the display FP sensor, triple camera would be nice, I find it unnecessary for my usage. I rather have that $150 extra in my pocket.

I wish there was a way to separate major OS updates and security patches so that way people didn't have to give up features they like on older generations.

@GrumpyMom and @jamezr ; by now you both should have an extra house to store all of your smartphones collected over the years....right? :D:p

Or start a Museum together! lol
I have kept the HTC 10 and unlocked Galaxy S7 with me. HTC 10 has a high quality DAC so is kept as a music player, though really it's been a very long time since I have used it for that. The S7 is kept for use in an older pair of VR goggles.

My iPhone SE and 8 Plus and 6sPlus are on loan to family members.

So really I "just" have the Pixel 2, iPhone Xr and Pixel 3XL, S9+, plus the two older phones I mentioned in immediate reach. The S9+ will be leaving me in trade soon.

That is still a lot of phones, but not as many as one might expect! The iPhone 6sPlus is with my sister-in-law as a backup to the iPhone Xr we bought her for Christmas. She said it's on its last legs. She is rough on phones with her bad temper and is a heavy social media user, so I am surprised it lasted this long. I always have to keep an extra iPhone around for her.

I don't mind the S10+ "rental" until we see what Apple rolls out in 7months or so.

What I don't think I can do is pay full price for a Sammy device when they routinely lose their value faster then any of the other major flagships almost instantly.

I do like the free buds as an offer. I think I saw somewhere buy one, get one but have never done that and assume you can't sell the 2nd one?

But I will admit, man that is a beautiful phone.

The 256gb version of the 10e has 8gb of ram.

I think I am opting to pre-order the S10E in Prism White. I didn't get to see the Blue in person, but the White looks amazing. Between selling the XS Max, cutting out Apple Care, and selling my Apple Watch, I anticipate about $300 more in my pocket.

I may buy a Fitbit or an older Galaxy watch on sale.

I really loved how compact the S10E felt in my hand. The screen is very nice for a 5.8" display even though no QHD. The camera looks nice and I like the UI a bit. Only thing is that it made it more difficult to use split-screen apps on a Best Buy display model.

Plus, a Qualcomm modem means better signal than the Intel junk Apple threw into its 2018 products?

How do like the placement of the side FP sensor?

How do like the placement of the side FP sensor?

It is decent, but my concern is about its wear and tear over time. The concern I have with the ultrasonic one on the S10 is the display itself. The lack of a working and affordable tempered glass screen protector is what normally scared me off with the Galaxy lines. I didn't even try the Note 9.

Looks like Samsung may have screwed up on DRAM specs. Instead of 6GB (seen on preproduction) you may end up with 8GB instead on the S10 and S10+ base models.

https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/...y-s10-and-s10-phones-have-at-least-8gb-of-ram

That was weird with the display model at Best Buy. Was it that much of a cost to put in more RAM to not mislead those who look beyond spec sheets?
