To me Samsung phones have always felt cheap compared to iPhone going back to S3, not saying that’s bad but you get what you pay for. Probably one reason why they tank so quick after release, at least this time their is free buds to help soften the loss.

It also helps that there's credible competition on the Android side. If you want an iOS Phone, it's just Apple.

I wouldn't compare the S10 and iPhone XS. The price difference is 100$ and it was heavily reported around the time the X came out that Samsung was charging Apple extra. A large portion of your items aren't even hardware things. I could bring up that Apple has to do more software work than Samsung and supports the devices longer if you want to go down that road.
Where I live in the UK. The price difference is in £200.

Android phones still get security updates for the third year and even after that stops google continues to update the core apps and services through the play store so it’s not as simple as saying apple offer more updates.

There are other features I don’t mention like a true file system, ability to use with external devices like mice and keyboards, higher resolution display. Faster wireless charging. A fast charger in the box. A headphone jack.

Yes, Google does the work so that Samsung can apply patches to their system. And third party app vendors do work that Samsung can't do because Samsung's own apps get update their apps regularly.

Apple supports their devices longer from a software and hardware perspective when compared to Samsung. I really don't see how that's debatable.

Yep, true, especially after years of small cheap panels.

Awesome. We finally have an in with Apple suppliers can tell us, probably from being in the room with the contracts, how much Apple saved on their screens.

Yeah, I went to take a look yesterday and agree with pretty much everything you said (I've only read the last few pages :)). £200 (USD 260) is unjustifiable.

XS Max £1100 v S10 Plus £900
XS £1000 v S10 £800

For me, personally, my storage needs usually come in at around 100GB or so - for the last 5years. Therefore 128GB is the sweetspot without jumping up to 256GB. To get a sufficiently sized 256GB iPhone you're looking at another £150 (USD200).
200 + 150 = £350 (USD 465) for equivalent phones is a no brainer.

Plus I think we're past the point where frequent updates matter much save security updates, which are timely. Back in the day not getting an update, even a .1 release, could be the difference between having some major feature like copy & paste, email attachments or whatever. But now these are pretty mature, polished OSs where software functionality advances glacially year on year. And Google's granularity push has moved most things worth updating for to the Playstore anyway. It's a barely an issue imo.

Those days are long gone, Samsung phones these days look the most premium out of all the phones on the market these days

It could have but it has a better camera and a more advanced AI. The S10 plus has a better screen to body ratio the Xs max, triple camera system, can be used with gear VR, has reverse wireless charging, in display FPS, it can be used as a desktop computer, SD card expansion, has split screen apps and pip, AOD, multiple methods of unlocking and still costs less than the max. The note 9 has better feature than the Xs max and still costs less. Those are premium phones and still cost less than the Xs max. There’s no justification for Apple’s prices. iOS and an ecosystem can’t justify costing £200 for half the storage.

The list is endless on what Samsung phones have and can do

I feel a mug for paying so much on my max for very little features

It will also be nice to have my Macbook, iPad and phone charge using the same port. It's mind blowing that Apple can allow a situation to exist where three different connectors connect audio across its MacBook, iPad or iPhone lines.

Apple's wireless solutions would be (mostly) fine if Apple/Beats sold a single pair that charge via usb-c. With an S10 one can charge his or her buds with the same wire as the MacBooks, plug in any other USB-c pair without visiting dongle town, or use the same jack that is still on the MacBooks. Or even charge buds, and hopefully soon AirPods, on the phone overnight without the need to carry extra wires.

There’s still value in my Xs max and I can get another high quality device.
[doublepost=1551178974][/doublepost]I read on android central forums that the display units have screen protectors on. I’ve just been to have another look and there is a very thin protector on and it doesn’t have a hole in it :p

As a happy iPhone owner, I can honestly say the Galaxy S & Note lines feel as premium as a phone can get. It’s not that Samsung phones ‘tank’, it’s that Apple don’t reduce the price of their phones

Those who have used the S9 or Note 9, is the Samsung keyboard still awful causing you to immediately switch to Gboard? Or has it improved since the Note 8?

I’ve just been to pick up my cousins S7 and I’m going to charge it and set it up. It’s gong to be my phone until the S10 arrives next week!
Thats what I did. Started using a S9 till next week and I must say, I'm impressed. Last galaxy I used was the Note 8 which was clunky. I'm a believer of One UI, which is hard to believe.
One thing I dislike is the fact that there is no messaging app that does not compress photos. I don't want to send out Google Photos links as the only way to get the full res version.

here in the Netherlands I have seen some people who pre ordered and received a message about delayed shipping times of 1 week.

I submitted my pre-order for a black S10+ and got a ship date of 3/15.

For me it isn’t an issue as I have my S9+ and it gives me time to decide on the case that I want.

You seem like criticizing the way Android works based on your biased opinions against the iPhone. The S line feeling cheaper than the Note series? The are made from the exact same materials as their generation. I'm not sure if I take your review serious or not but iPhone isn't made of any magical metal. Metal is metal, ceramic is ceramic. Nothing that had been coming from Samsung since the Note 3 has had "cheap" written on it.
That's what stood out for you? It's the "split window" bit that caused me to raise an eyebrow.

Anyone who knows a thing or two about Sammy phones knows Samsung introduced split windows in 2012 with the Galaxy S3. It's hardly a new feature for Samsung. Bone stock Android, sure. You can also refer to their post history and query 'Samsung' against it. It's hilarious.

Went for a 2nd time to check out the S10 here in a electronic store.

Even with being a demo model, this S10 is mostly blazing fast. One minor thing was getting into the multitasking, that felt kind of sloppy.
But overall, still very amazed what Samsung did with the S10 series, just as snappy and smooth as my current iPhone XS.

Is it March 8th yet? :)

I have no idea what your refering to :) I have no issues and find it perfectly serviceable

How 3rd party functionality is with native features like night mode may require further information before taking other options

I've been using split screen since S3 back when it was considered a gimmick and still is by Apple fans until it's on the iPhone... Kinda like Smart Stay, now on the iPhone as "Attention Aware".
Since split screen is a native Android feature now, its safe to say he's biased against how Android OS works.
