Oh you mean how many believed Apple wouldn't make a screen larger than 4 inches because they were so about the one handed use? Or they would never use AMOLED because it's so inaccurate in color reproduction. Alrighty then.
This is a (not unexpected) straw-man because logic went out the window and the only way to recover is to present some generalized statement about what Steve Jobs felt and said to what the reality of the market is when TC took the helm.

Additionally the general sentiment around oled was when apple felt it was ready, they would incorporate those panels into their phones. So your general statement about AMOLED is not even correct. Alrighty then.

Only thing not unexpected is your canned response. You diehards are so predictable. lol. Nobody's buying what you're selling.

Yep. Extremely predicable response, straw-man and all.

Nobody is buying your narrative either, buddy.:)

Very revealing of you for copying my post. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Want to place a bet? Don't know how we will settle or collect. If apple thought an asymmetrically placed hole in the display area was better than the notch they would have done it in the first place. Apple doesn't need the likes of Samsung to tell them it was okay or not to design a phone as such.
Just like all the Apple die-hards said 4" Was the perfect screen size and that Apple would never follow suit and make larger screen phones. Riiiight. Your posts are downright condescending torwards other manufacturers especially when Apple has copied so many of thier ideas it makes you sound foolish. It's like only Apple can make the right design choices, it's impossible for any other company to do so. Seriously read your posts back to yourself...

Commenting on a post that was generalized hyperbole?

Steve Jobs was the one who made the comments on phone and obviously one of the things he was wrong on and Tim Cook corrected that with the iphone 6. Maybe some disciples of SJ parroted that sentiment, but clearly with Apples massive profits the year the iphone 6 was released Apple customers wanted a bigger phone.

But your post and the OP quoted are typical of the formula that Apple fans said that and then they turned around and said something else. When in reality it may have been one or two specific people who said one thing and then flipped flop, if even that.

However, your post is a red-herring as Samsung and other manufacturers have copied much. So let's not discuss who sounds foolish as I never said apple is the only one making the right design choices.

The OP was clearly wrong and trolling when he said apple copied the essential "notch", which was an ugly circle.

That, my friend, is what this is all about.

After a while, you learn Apple diehards are something very different from other diehards. Just like Apple, they take things to a whole new level. Apple takes corporate greed to a whole new level, and their diehards take blind loyalty to a whole new level. Just look at the diehards' reaction to the iPad Pro shipping bent out of the box. Absolutely insane to accept/rationalize such a statement from Apple. lol. One thing true about Android loyalist, they won't hesitate to turn on an OEM if they go too for with their corporate greed. Can you imagine Samsung fans' reaction if Samsung didn't include a basic fast charger with their $1000+ flagship device. lol. Heads would explode. Even the tech media would very vocally call out Samsung for such a dick move.

Are you going to continue to talk about the Apple diehard? Or explain how Apple had time to copy the notch from the essential phone as you said(https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/samsung-galaxy-s10.2133817/page-6#post-26942420), given the essential was released on Aug 17 and Apple somehow managed in three weeks to retool the entire manufacturing line and internal components in the few weeks prior to the Sept 12 announcement.

Rather than discussing the issue which is the hyperbolic insulation of apple copying the essential “notch”, you elect to discuss the posters, which for the most part doesn’t end well.

So in essence you were off-topic so I hope you listen to your own advice.

Who cares about arguing who copies who, Apple can keep the fugly notch, I'll take an assymetrical hole over a centralized cutout, anyday.
I'd prefer nothing on the screen at all and smaller cameras embedded into the tiny bezel but the selfie cam seems to be pretty important these days.
I'm all about maximum screen without hideous compromise.
The under screen fingerprint scanner (which will be copied, adopted, whatever, by Apple, you wait and see) is an added bonus.

Let's not pretend the that either Samsung or Apple is above shameless copying.

I agree with the not caring about who copied who. One manufacturer can't do it all. Nothing wrong with a manufacturer adding features that another manufacturer did first. One Huawei feature I wouldn't mind seeing on the S10/Note10 is the ability to charge one device with another device. It's one of those, "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it," features.

I think there's talk of Samsung copying that from Huawei, lol.
Personally, I don't need it but like you say, better to have it than not.

I can't emphasize enough how I personally feel any cutout/notch is undesirable in my opinion.
I'm too unphotogenic to warrant a selfie cam, I don't actually don't like photos of myself.
The whole selfie thing is why we have aberrations on screens now, but I also realize I'm in the minority and have to suck it up.
All the talk of Samsung's curved panels being annoying and no-one bats an eye at holes and notches, c'mon!

Oh and...

Merry Xmas people, I hope all is well for you all, I wish you all a Happy New Year too :D

Love Auntie Klyster. xx

Hope you and everyone else enjoyed their holiday.

The whole Face ID/selfie cam thing is not my bag either. Face ID: Trying to avoid this. You have one of my fingerprints already. That is enough. This tech is why I am enthused about the in screen fingerprint readers, and much more willing to giving Android a second go next year (2019).

I do not take selfies, and barely use phone cameras except for documents and some food.

Obviously, not the target generation. Some things I will adapt to, others, I’ll wait on.

I can deal with holes and teardrop notches, but the Apple notch no way. I cannot unsee around that. This -along with increasingly annoying iOS tweaks and changes (including not able to reset the clock to pre-notch settings)- are why I am eagerly looking to give iOS the boot after almost a decade.

There are other reasons too, but the enjoyment and ease of use is not there for me.

I couldn’t care less who copies who, except that I wish Android phone makers would have resisted copying Apple’s price hikes.

At this point, It's certain the S10/Note10 will have the on screen fp reader. And it won't be the cheaper, slower, and less accurate optical reader like the current batch of Chinese OEM phones. It will be the quicker and more accurate ultrasonic reader.

Quicker than OnePlus 6T? That looks pretty quick

These screen protectors look more like what I would expect a screen protector to look like for the S10/S10+. I'm not exactly sure why the other screen protectors that have leaked so far, have black surroundings for the front cameras. The protector should just be fully transparent over the camera like the ones in this video. Nonetheless, these are gonna be amazing looking displays.
