But would you rather have in-screen Touch ID or Face ID?

The means of unlocking the phone + screen to body ratio - as a whole - will be what people need to weigh up.

I know you weren't asking me but....

In screen touch ID please, especially if the touch area size can be increased.
I'd use it more than any form of face-unlock.
As it is, out of my pocket and my phone is unlocked by touch before I can look at it.
It's quicker for me to punch in a code than lift my phone up to look at it when I'm laying down.

I’d rather have the hole than a notch.
Ditto :)

Other than for notification icons I prefer the hole top left or right in portrait mode as when in landscape mode you can have the hole at the bottom where its almost obscured by your thumbs when watching Netflix's etc being close to the corners

The notch in the centre is always set in the middle eyeline in landscape mode

There is a misconception about the screen to body ratio on the X. The note/ S9 have better screen to body ratios than the X at the moment even with the 2 bezels.

I’d prefer to have both.

I’m not disputing that. & not referring to the S9.

In-Screen Touch ID with a better screen to body ratio on this rumoured Galaxy S10 design v Face ID with a worse screen to body ratio on next years iPhone.

Will either of those combinations be enough of a carrot for people to switch from one operating system to the other?

Neither. I think the majority of people like to stick to one OS.

The more leaks I see the more excited I am about the S10

Man, those camera holes or "butt holes" are going to get in the way of important things on the screen. Unlike the notch when software can work around, it won't with this. :(

Whatever y’all do, do NOT click on the article from Forbes that has the headline: Samsung suddenly Reveals Potential Galaxy S10 Cancellation.

I never really paid close attention before but I thought the name Forbes was supposed to be reputable. I vaguely remember reading interesting articles on Forbes. Now though? May as well get your tech news now from The National Enquirer. Hell, even The Daily Mail occasionally has decent articles.

That article has NOTHING to do with anything solid or even leaky about the S10. They’ve just speculated “will they or won’t they” drop the headphones jack. We could sit here and debate that with about as much solid information as that stupid piece of clickbait.

Seriously what has happened to journalism? I suppose we bear part of the responsibility as readers for wanting everything for free. Actually I am fine with paying but it’s a huge pain in the butt to manage all of my individual subscriptions. If Apple or Google or someone else wants to consolidate the billing and payments for one news portal that feeds into the individual publications, that would be great. Maybe there already is that sort of service. I would look into it if it would raise the quality of journalism.

Now, getting back to the S10, well I really like the looks of the dots and oval. But yeah I’m a little apprehensive about how kludgy the solution might be for displaying info around them. Please oh please let there be no lag involved. I do think they will design something custom because they do for the stupid curved edge. Samsung lives for this sort of extreme customization. I both admire and want to kick them for it.

I hope this dotty design will be the trend for Android going forward. I am not fond of notches. But that’s just me. Everyone is free to wish for whatever their heart desires. Doesn’t mean anyone is going to make the effort to give any of us what we want.

anymore it seems Forbes is just click bait to be honest....especially writer Gordon Kelly

That looks so much better than the notch to me. There is a S10 Plus with my name on it when pre-orders open!
Hopefully they release according to the rumors......announcement on 2/20 and release 3/08
I’m not sure when I would be ordering or which one I’d pick. It’s easy with Apple. Now I know my only option with them is whichever model has an LCD display. I’m very happy that so far I can enjoy my Samsung S9+ display without suffering. It gives me hope I’ll be able to advance to one of the picks from the next generation.

I guess since I have no choice but to stay in the less expensive iPhone option, I can probably justify going all out on the S10 and go big or go home.

But then do I want one at all? I kind of would like to get back to using an S Pen. Might be best to see what the Note 10 is like. It’s all very exciting.

Same here. Pre-ordering the S10 Plus straight from Samsung. The 128gb with a 512gb card will be good enough for me.

:p:D Aw hey if Dieter Rams isn’t sore at Apple and Jony Ive, gotta cut Samsung some slack.

By the way, who is the chief designer of Samsung phones? Do they even have one? Or are their phones designed by committee? Shout out to them for keeping the camera bump from being too much of a bump on their flagships so far.
