I'm curious if anyone has gotten a hands on with one in the States. I've called a couple places but nobody has display units yet.

I got hands on time with the S20, S20+, and the Z Flip. The S20 Ultra wasn’t powered on because it needed and update but the curve is much less pronounced and hardly noticeable in my experience with them.

You in the States or somewhere else?

Typical Samsung. Throw hardware at the issue. They kept the same horrible image processing software. Just throwing better hardware at it won’t do anything.

Google and Apple are pulling away from Samsung even more in terms of photography. I would say even Huawei is doing better than Samsung now.

In the States, Hauwei doesnt matter. They're dead here after the recent reports. Thats a huge market to lose.

Why not judge a phone when it’s actually been released properly? Yes, Google have the lead in image processing and Apple are also doing a great job.

I‘m probably known on here for disliking the skin smoothing on Samsungs and I prefer a Pixel picture (especially the portrait mode & front camera). But Samsung still offer a very, very good camera. Regular pics outside they take great shots, the ultrawide is fantastic, video is always good. Now they’re taking it up a notch with zoom & video and no doubt will get better with updates on the all new sensor.

As for Huawei, they‘re pretty irrelevant in the West right now....

Exactly, some of those results were worst than my S10+, which wouldn't make any sense.

How do you know they kept the same imaging processing?

He definitely doesn’t and to say they haven’t is just making assumptions. On the flip side, I haven’t seen anything to suggest that they actually did tweak their image processing either. And if they didn’t and photos with moving objects continue to turn out blurry and every face is awkwardly smoother over, then I think they blew a big opportunity to catch up to Apple and Google.

Watch this Korean video comparing the S20U to iPhone 11 pro.

Start it at 9:00 to look at the selfie camera. It is so bad with the skin smoothing it has to be a joke lol

It's not that bad to be honest. I've seen much worst on previous Samsung and Android models.

The selfie video stabilization is excellent compared to the 11 Pro. IMO, that would be more important to me.

Yeah I’ve seen a few videos now that pretty much confirm my fears.

2kAud for a S series 128gb is just ridiculous.

Almost new Note 10+ is selling now days for around $1000 so eventually the price will drop for s20 ultra in 4-6 months.

If s20 ultra is a beast am sure Note 20 will be a mega beast :)

Good video, and the reason why the camera is well, just a camera...

10 Things Samsung didn't tell you at Unpacked

Since last year I've hard looked at the S series and the Note 10+, but have stuck with my Apple products. The Apple Watch keeps me from swaying, but I do love the feel of the the newer Samsung devices. Just can't pull myself away from Apple, and know I would regret the switch after a couple weeks.

That’s what happens to me. I won’t and looked back At the last five years and I realize that I have a captain android device for over two months at a time. And I wasn’t even all hooked in to the ecosystem five years ago. Time to learn my lesson. LOL

Pre order to actual release is ridiculous. Nearly a month to wait between first pre order date to delivery

For me, I'm just never satisfied with either side. So I'm actually wondering if learning my lesson after years of "grass is always greener" back and forth - is to finally accept that I'm best off owning one of each.

I have a 11 Pro right now. Chose it for the middle size - not too big to lug around in pant pockets during the summer months, and not too small for media. But after a few months I have to say it actually is not big enough for gaming and movies, and just baaaaarely big enough for browsing and reading.

So I'm thinking I'll split my uses like this: I'll get a small iPhone, doesn't need to be latest model as I need it mostly as a base for my AW, for my contacts which are only on iMessage, for anything that I need to rely 100% on such as boarding passes, bank apps, public transport ticket, etc. And of course for quick access to iCloud as I've synced my MBP fully to it, which I find to work awesomely. So, maybe an iPhone 8 or the new SE. Bonus: those are REALLY small compared to even to the 11 Pro, so great for summer pockets. Also cheap so I don't need to fear losing/damaging it so much.

And then I'll get the Note 20 or whatever big screen alternative turns out to be the best come September. For media use, scribbling on the go, camera, gaming, and most of all for those couch potato sessions where one just does a little bit of this and a little of that, for which I always find that something manages to get in the way and kill the fun when I'm on an iPhone. Like not having split screen so I can lazily keep track of a match stream while chatting to someone or surfing.

Noting that I do already have a 12.9 iPad Pro to top it off, for all really big on the go screen use, iCloud file work etc. (Writing this last part, oh gosh what a 1st world ramble this is turning out to be :D...)

Anyway tl;dr, lesson learned for me is that I still haven't found either iOS or Android, or any one handset on either side, to do it ALL for me.

Last 1st world spoiled human being comment: the ONE thing I can't fit into this picture is the joy of using Safari Reader Mode on an (preferably big) OLED iPhone. Which is maybe my favourite killer feature on iOS. I absolutely LOVE how you can transform a way too busy and unreadable web page to a PERFECT text on well-tuned background color with one click. So far no Android reader mode comes even close to the satisfaction of this function on iOS. And I won't be able to enjoy that on a small iPhone. Hm. I think I'll just go for the above solution and keep praying that someone will come up with a good enough reading mode on Android.
