I think they’re going to be updating to improve this phone until the next Note comes out. Just going off how things always have gone in the past. Then the updates will be for security and OS updates and One UI.

It's as though the "S" series are test runs for the Note series.

Wow could this be real?
Copy on your S20 and then paste it directly on your PC? Without Dex?

I think because of their places in the release cycle it works out that way. But that’s not really the intention, of course. That would be a marketing disaster. They clearly position their products pretty well.

This year it’s a bit tricky because the S20+ is almost Note sized. The Ultra is The Hulk. They don’t really have a petite flagship phone this year. The S20 is as small as they can get a 5G phone.

So there’s a little bit of an overlap into the Note series, which traditionally has meant “go big or go home”, until they experimented with the smaller Note 10 last year. I think now they are going to keep the focus on business and power users with that S Pen and de-emphasize the size.

I think the fact that they are still relying on the S10 series to be their budget flagship phones for this year speaks to the importance they still give to the S Series phones. Which I great because these phones cost an arm and a leg and maybe a few nostril hairs! 😂

Yeah, I think they are painting themselves into a corner... releasing 3 phones at the beginning of the year.. last year it was s10e, s10 and s10 plus. I think they should just release 2 phones like they did at the end of year with the Galaxy Note.

Lines get blurred when they release that many phones. I wonder how they gonna position their lineup with the Note series.. will they introduce 3 models?

I tried out Dex.. but Idk. I'm not excited as I thought I was... I wonder is it as popular as it appears so. I don't see it being discussed as I thought it could be.

I loaded it up.. played around with it. I wish there was no need to install Dex on the PC/Mac, it would be better if I could just buy a monitor... and just plug up the phone... Dex will load up.

God, I really hope samsung tweaked its postprocessing, i want to go android after many years with iphone but if they did not make sw great, will probably end with iphone 11 pro:(

Oh, I wasn't familiar with the dex box.. until I looked up Dex Pad. Wish there was need for any additional accessories. But cool nevertheless.

More choice the better. Don't see how they're 'painting themselves into a corner'.

Okay my husband came across an article mentioning an ad for DirectTV got embedded in the reviewer’s phone app on the dialer of a Z Flip. I discuss it here because I’m considering the S20 and am afraid of running into such a horror on it. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/18/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-review.html

I’ve never run across that before. The dialing pad is pretty important. I carry two phones because I have dealt with medical emergencies. It goes with having elderly parents and having some accidents and issues myself. I don’t want to be dealing with an ad when I’m trying to call someone during an emergency. What is Samsung thinking?

Has anyone ever seen this on an S series phone? Here’s the ad which is credited to Todd Haselton CNBC.

I'd be very surprised if this was anything more than a bug in the pre release software.

I can pull it up right now on my Note 10+ in places, though I never have been there before.

I get the more choices the better, but I prefer when it’s streamlined. Because I don’t understand the iPad sizes.. 7.9, 9.7, 10.2, 10.5, 11, 12.9, it’s out of control. And what I mean by painting themselves into a corner.. is as @GrumpyMom pointed out with the Ultra model that has moved into the Note territory size.

Cause eventually it’s going to be a point.. only thing that’s gonna separare the ”S“ and Note series is the S-Pen, both sizes are gonna be identical. And if thats the case.. why not just cut off releasing both series separately. And intoduce them jointly.. as in one model with a S-Pen and one without.
