I’ve had my ultra for a few days now. I’ve had no issue with it and I like the refresh rate and flatter screen but i have been wondering if it’s worth keeping. I don’t begrudge the £1400 price tag but I can’t help but feel the difference between the note 10+ and ultra doesn’t really justify additional cost to me
Yeah the price is a huge pain point for many people. It’s a shame that almost all of us can’t really enjoy the benefits of 5G that causes about $100 extra to be built into the overall higher cost over last generation.

Even if we were to get 5G out here next week, I don’t think my husband and I want to see the substantial increase in monthly costs over our current plan, when 4G suits us just fine.

But even though I’m going from a Note 10+ with a larger display display and an S Pen I find I am much more content with my S20 than I expected to be. I do prefer the S20 display even though it is smaller. It is sharper looking. And the increased touch responsiveness makes everything so noticeably smooth even without my running the 120hz refresh rate.

I have access to Tmobiles 5G and it's only slightly faster than LTE. The mm wave 5G is so sparce and the signals so weak that it's hard to take advantage of it. 5G is definitely a year or two away from being important.

As for the price, it's a weird one. Currently smartphones are at a saturation point where updates each year are minimal. I applaud Samsung from trying to add everything they could from a hardware standpoint to justify the new version and price jump. Are these phones better than last year's? Yep. Are they a huge leap forward? I don't think so. That said, I still think these are the best Android phones available right now.

All the price stuff will probably pale into insignificance when iPhone prices are revealed in September!

as @Awesomesince86 has said, at least Samsung have thrown some serious hardware at the s20, I fear the same may not be from apples offerings against the prices they’ll charge

With the inclusion of 5g, Apple will see that as plenty of reason to jack up the price. Plus they are releasing a budget iPhone this year so they can point their customers not willing to spend a premium on that.

Ugh, stupid addiction. So I just couldn't resist and ordered an S20 unlocked. Will be here in a week!
I told myself I wasn't getting an S20 but ordered one any way! I did so a week ago and it arrived while I was still offshore at work.

I arrived home on Friday and finally got round to setting it up yesterday and have had a full day with it.

For me the 120hz refresh rate is reason alone for me to keep this phone, its that good, so smooth and responsive. I honestly didn't expect it to be this good. The difference between 60 and 90hz on my Pixel 4 is negligible but on my S20 the 120hz is significantly better than 60hz. For me the high refresh rate trumps the higher qhd resolution.

Even with the smaller screen and 120hz only being available at 1080p the 4000mah battery isnt as strong as the plus or ultra, I got just shy of 6 hours SOT for my first day. Good enough for me but maybe not for others.

The camera is good but not Pixel good, so far it seems its just a typical "Samsung" camera. I'll need a little more time to see how it fares but what I've noticed so far is a little shutter lag.

This S20 is definitely a keeper for me, I just have to decide what phone to move on now, 4 is too many .

Lol happens to me every galaxy, iPhone, and pixel launch. I say its not a huge upgrade and I'm going to hold off and then I find myself at pre-order time hitting that submit button. This time I was really stoked about the Ultra so was glade to pre-order and use my Note10+ as trade in. However once I got the Ultra I was a bit disappointed with the camera issues which *might* get fixed and the size of the phone can be an inconvenience.

Saw pic samples and comparisons and that the s20+ wasn't having the issues the ultra was so picked up an s20+ yesterday from Best Buy. I like the S20 so much that I'm actually considering keeping BOTH the S20s for different reasons. I agree the pixel camera might be a little better but the versatility of the Samsung camera and all the other advantages the s20 has over the pixel it looks like I'll be selling my 4xl. Still have my 11 Pro Max on my work line and felt that it and the pixel camera were very comparable so I don't think I'll miss it too much.

One of the photogs I follow on YouTube posted his review on the ultra... (I'm just passing on the review, mind you)

The price isn’t expected to be much higher...

So as some of you may remember, I won a free iPhone and returned the Ultra. Talk about a return nightmare. Turns out that when I initiated return, I was supposed go initiate the return on all of items including preorder bonus accessories. Their system is completely confused because I put all of the items in one box. It’s been in their warehouse since Wednesday and they have no clue when I’ll see a refund because of this. I finally asked them to just ship it back to me but they can’t do that. Aaargh.

Damn that’s some embarrassing customer service right there. Hope you sort it out...

Hey y’all, I know this is super specific but I’m really interested in these details haha. Samsung themselves list the S20+ as 525 PPI. In order for that to ring true the display diagonal has to be 6.68”. On the Android info app I download it’s showing it as 6.44” and 529 PPI. Any thoughts? I know most would say who cares haha.

lol, not doing a return within 14 days. That's what was discussed if you bothered to read before chiming in.

His reply wasn't independent or unrelated to yours. You emphasized something Samsung could improve (which I agree, I had a bad experience with them once before), and he then pointed out that while Apple may do great on customer service, there are areas Apple could improve as well.

If I don’t have a full refund by tomorrow I’m going to lose my crap on them and demand a gift card. Even though I’m an iPhone user I’m sure there’s something on their site I could use. Lol
While I sympathise with the frustration as it is offered, but as an outsider like many, try living in a country where these 14/30 days return periods do not exist :)

Talk about taking your cake and eating it. You get to play for 14 days or more and return, get freebies, then moan the refunds not fast and want a gift card

I assure you more would be a lot more decisive on purchases if there were not these practices :)

The thing that grates is these returns and services like Apple stores push the costs of devices up globally where only a few countries get the benefits :(

Hope its sorted soon :)

Not true...if you read the post I replied to it was about returning all of the pre-order freebies in ONE box instead of initiating separate returns and using separate boxes.
Then bringing up Apple as an example is totally relevant to get some context.
IMHO Apple customer service is top notch. But also I have read horror stories from people here on MR about their experiences with Apple customer service.
