And camera tests are starting to become pointless too. I saw that Max Tech blind test and had to chuckle. It’s like they knew which photos were the Pixel and said it was the worst. Also, these tests never take pictures of moving pets or kids.

Why the non-ultra S20 models are probably what you should get (or you should even keep your S10/Note10 phones instead of getting the new S20 series).
Even the Note 10 can perform better than the S20 Ultra.

I'd love a software fix to allow the Note 10+ to take longer night shots!

But that ain't gunna happen lol.

The ultra won in this blind test for me. It was by quite some margin. Surprisingly the S20+ was third for me. Would have thought the cameras on the ultra and S20+ would be similar.

Lighten up, it's just a video.

So true, The A13 is considered the most powerful soc due to..... synthetic benchmarks.
I think for most things that people do everyday, surf the net, use apps, take pics, online backing, music and videos the A13 and latest snap dragon are plenty fast. The chips from Apple, Qualcomm, Samsung (exynos) have been powerful enough for several years now. For all it’s power the A13 refuses to run to apps side by side and closes apps in the background aggressively.

I use both Galaxy Buds 2 and Airpods 2 with my Ultra. I like the Airpods the best for just keeping in my ear and phone calls, but I like the Buds better for just listening to music as the quality sounds much better. I can't just go about my business with the Buds if I'm not listening to music, the ambient sound feature is good, but not good enough. The same with most rubber tip earbuds. I haven't tried the Airpods Pro yet though.
I only had my galaxy buds for 10 days. I thought they were ok, only problem was they were too quiet. I’m not an audiophile. I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between my 2nd gen AirPods or the galaxy buds in terms of sound quality. I can’t even tell the difference between the AirPods pro and AirPods first gen or second AirPods 🤣

I haven’t had time to see the video yet. But just based on having an Ultra around the house, I’m glad at least one of us has that extreme zoom. Not for 100x but for 30x in good lighting. In dim lighting if the subject is moving they’re all pretty hopeless and I stick to my iPhone for that.

I try to use my S20 as often as possible though for the gorgeous display. I’m not really happy to hear Apple is supposedly sourcing the new iPhone displays for most of its new models from a Chinese source and not Samsung. My 11 pro display is beautiful. My S20 display is a step above. I understand the importance of varying their sources. It’s just that I’ve really come to count on Samsung displays to deliver the best viewing experience.

Those of you using the S20 with kids or pets, here's the setup that has been working best for me...

I installed the cyanogenmod gcam port and mapped it to the double press of the power button. I also have the stock camera on my launcher home. For regular photos or any zoom I just use the stock camera app. For my kids or pets where I need to get a quick picture with no blur, I double tap to launch the gcam. It has a faster shutter and is less likely to blur.

Try it out and let me know how it works.

Son of a gun. Starting to experience delayed notifications on my S20+. Gmail comes through instantly on my iPhone and it's been at least 5 minutes so far and still no notification on the S20+. I have Gmail set to never be put to sleep and to run in background. So annoying. RCS still isn't working either (not that anyone I know will even be able to use it with me) but weird since I'd removed everything off of my Pixel prior to trading it in.

And the honeymoon period is officially over, lol. I'm still really enjoying it just not loving it. My typical Android experience.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m getting MMS simultaneously to my iMessages in chats where people are sending to both of my phones. Which is just family chat. I honestly don’t try to go green bubble on friends. It’s not taboo or anything like that. We’ve had Android users on the group chat. But currently we are all iPhone users in this particular parenting group so it’s just easier.

I am also still getting my emails and email notifications in a timely manner. I wonder what is causing your delays. I don’t doubt you have them because my husband experienced the same awhile back. I don’t know how it’s going for him now. When he gets out of work in the basement office I’ll ask.

We are all locked down tight. Kids are on iPads and Google services and Zoom for school. What crazy times we live in. I’m lucky nobody is driving me crazy. My parents are being looked after by their neighbors. But they were already pretty well prepared. Of course. I nagged my dad to prep while testing the call quality on my S20. 😜

Other extended family members are okay except for getting scalped on toilet paper. We live semi rural so that was something we had always stocked up on anyway.

I wish my contacts would send messages to both of my phones haha. For now, I need to keep swapping my SIM in order to keep messages coming.

It's odd because I never really noticed any delayed notifications before on other Androids. I'm on Verizon, could be a network issue, but, I've been on wifi nonstop for the past week due to working at home.

Apparently the camera issue is now resolved with the Exynos variant of S20 Ultra in the latest firmware (G988BXXU1ATCH).

Do the buds + sound better than the akg earphones that come in the box?

The Buds + sound much better. These akg earphones that came in the box sound pretty horrible. They sound worst than the ones from previous Samsung phones. I don't know if it's because of USB-C vs jack, or another reason.

Mrwhostheboss did a video comparing the snapdragon and exynos versions of the s20. I'm on my phone or else I would post it. But the results were not good for the Exynos. We all knew it was inferior but it's way inferior. Huge problems with overheating and throttling.

I haven't seen the video yet, what sort of tests did he do?

I have the exynos version and have experienced no issues whatsoever.

Well, I've always preferred PlayStation over Xbox and will be picking up a PS5. However, if the PS5 is only backwards compatible with the PS4 and not earlier PlayStations, I'm very tempted in picking up an Xbox as well, since it's backwards compatibility goes all the way back to the original model.

Wrong thread? Lol.

Even the Note 10 can perform better than the S20 Ultra.

I had the Note 10 by an even wider margin, then the S20+, followed by the S20 Ultra. In the testing, I think the S20 Ultra is propped up too much by its advanced zoom. We all know its zoom shots are superior to most if not all, but it really carried its score in this test. I'd say that, even though the cameras perform pretty close, there exists deal breakers in some of the S20+ and (even more so) the S20 Ultra.

Agreed. The only shots the Ultra won for me were either telephoto or when they used the 108MP natively without the pixel binning and then cropped in. The Note 10+ was the overwhelming winner, IMO. It wasn’t even close by my personally tally. The Ultra was shockingly bad.
